EDMONTON HUMANE SOCIETY(780) 471-177413620 - 163 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5V 0B2[We’re located on the corner of 137 Avenue & 163 Street]www.edmontonhumanesociety.com

Founded in 1907, the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS) is committed to helping homeless and abused companion animals, enlightening people and enriching lives. The Society’s Animal Protection Department enforces Alberta’s Animal Protection Act by responding to concerns within the City of Edmonton about animal neglect. The EHS also actively educates the public and provides tool to help them be responsible pet owners while at the same time, cares for approximately 13,000 homeless animals who come through its shelter doors each year. The Society greatly

charitable organization is not a local chapter to any organization and does not receive any regular government funding.

Animal ID: 73258Name: CadburyAge: 6 monthsSex: Spayed FemaleSpecies: DogBreed: Australian ShepherdColor: Brown/Tan

Cadbury Included in the adoption fee:- Spay/Neuter surgery (done before being placed up for adoption)- Microchipping- First set of vaccines- Complimentary post-adoption vet exam- And so much more!

Cadbury is a sweet 6-month-old Australian Shepherd who has been stealing hearts here at the shelter for a few weeks now.

What's especially funny and cute about her is that she is unaware of her size and expects to be received on your lap as though she were still a puppy. And of course when she does it and you protest a little, Cadbury - armed with the softest little eyes - casts a look your way that says, "well how else am I going to show you what an awesome, loving dog I am?"

So you let her climb aboard and snuggle up. And you know what? It's all good.

Dear Working Wise:I work for a window manufacturer, but I’m looking for a better paying job. Where are the opportunities right now?Signed, Ready for a change

Dear Working Wise:

Working WiseWorking WiseWorking Wise

Do you have a work-related question?Send your questions to Working Wise, at [email protected] Strachey is a manager with Alberta Human Services. This column is provided for general informa-tion.

Dear Ready:

The Alberta Government did just release its Occu-pational Demand and Supply Outlook 2013-2023 that forecasts the anticipated demand for workers over the next 10 years.

You can check out that report along with other labour market statistics athttp://work.alberta.ca/lmi

And, you can nd out how much you might make in each job by referring to the WAGEinfo data base on the Alberta Learning Information Service (ALIS) web site at http://alis.alberta.ca/WAGE-info.

But job ads are one of the best indicators of where the job opportunities are right now.

According to Wanted Analytics, there were 60,000 advertised jobs in Alberta in January--down 1,500 jobs, or 2.5 per cent, from the same time last year. Occupations that saw the biggest growth in job postings, included:

+ 81% Public Works Equipment Operators+ 57% Residential Home Builders+ 33% Plasterers, Drywall Installers, Finishers+ 29% Restaurant and Food Service Managers+ 22% Contractors, Carpentry Trades+ 20% Storekeepers and Parts Clerks+ 18% Carpenters+ 18% Financial Managers+ 17% Stationary Engineers / Equipment Operators

You can learn more about any occupations that interest you, including working conditions, required training, and average wages, by checking out the OCCinfo database on the ALIS web site at http://alis.alberta.ca/OCCInfo.

Of course, these are just trends. The best thing to do is check your local job boards for opportuni-ties that interest you. You can also attend local Alberta Works job fairs. A list of job fairs is avail-able at: http://humanservices.alberta.ca/jobfairs.

You can also call the Career Information Hotline toll-free 1-800-661-3753 and talk to a live Career Counsellor about your next career move.

Good luck!
