Factors What are the factors of 10?

Can you find a pair of numbers that multiply together to give 10?

5 x 2 = 10

So 5 and 2 are factors of 10.

Is there another pair of numbers that multiply together to give 10?

1 x 10 = 10

So 1 and 10 are also factors of 10.

Factors of 10 = 1,10,2,5

give the target number.

What are the factors of 8

4 x 2 = 8 1 x 8 = 8

Factors of 8 = 1,8,2,4

What are the factors of 20

4 x 5 = 20 2 x 10 = 20

Factors of 20 = 1,20,2,10,4,5

1 x 20 = 20

Factors Factors of 36 = 1,36,2,18,3,12,6,9,4

The odd pair was 6 x 6 = 36

This pair has identical numbers. This means that

36is special and is called a

Another way of showing this is to record the factors horizontally.
