The suspect cannot be named as he has not officially plead- ed in court yet. Police went to the school and arrest- ed him in front of the learners about a week ago. This happened after a learner’s parents found pornographic images and naked pictures of the depu- ty principal on the victim’s cellphone. In the background of the sent pic- tures there were some clips of voice messages apparently sent by the sus- pect. Immediately, learners boycotted the classroom, demanding that the suspect stay away from the school premises. “The parents probed the phone and came across the pictures and text mes- sages,” said Sebokeng SAPS Spokes- person Warrant Officer Mzimkulu Mthimkulu adding that the learner con- fessed to her parents that the deputy principal has, since last year, been mak- ing sexual advances towards her. It is alleged that the suspect told the victim how dearly he loved her, wanted to make her wealthy and ‘fix’ her final examination question-papers. Sedibeng Ster spoke to some learners who requested they not be named. They said some learners, especially girls have been promoted to the next grades by the same suspect. The suspect appeared briefly in the Sebokeng Magistrates Court. The case has been postponed for fur- ther investigation and for a formal bail application today. Deputy Principal arrested for sexual grooming Mduduzi Mathebula SEBOKENG.- Military Officer Jabulani Skos- ana together with his family were left in the cold with their belongings when they were thrown out of their house in Zone 10 Extension 3 by an alleged Estate Agent and the Sheriff of the Court last week. The incident occurred in full view of neighbours, friends and family. The sheriff and the estate agent flocked into Skosana’s house with a mob that apparently terrorised the family and forced them out. This incident angered some community members and there was a dispute between the estate agent’s mob and community. The estate agent claims to have bought the house at an auction. Skosana tells Sedibeng Ster that he bought the house in 1989 and finished repairs on it in 1998 with its value being R40 000 then. “ Ever since 1998 I’ve been waiting for the title deed of this house. I don’t understand how my house could be sold on auction. I don’t owe anything on it as I own it, this is my house!I am going to take legal action against whoever is responsible for this,” says an angry Skosana trying by all means to be calm. The family slept in the open where the sheriff and the estate agent had thrown their belongings. Upon Sedibeng Ster’s arrival Skosana’s 75-year-old mother was also in the cold. “I’m going nowhere until the matter is resolved, and I hope justice will prevail and may God punish those who are against us,” said the pensioner. The Emfuleni Local Municipali- ty MMC for Housing Manana Kubheka came to console the family. She offered the family an alternative place to stay but the family refu- sed the offer. When asked to comment on the eviction processes that have become rife in Se- dibeng Kubheka says the community needs to be educated about property and protecting their assets, refusing to dwell much on the Skosana’s family eviction as she had not acquired full in- formation. “We need to educate our communi- ty about their rights. There are people who sell other peoples’ houses for R 10 or R 100 but we will try and get to the bottom of this matter,” concluded Kubheka. The family has since mo- ved back into the house. SEDIBENG.- Gauteng MEC for Roads andTransport Ismail Vadi this week condemnedthe wilful damage to and theft of cables. These were at both sets of traffic lights (ro-

bots) along the Dr Abu Baker Asvat Drivelinking Soweto and Lenasia and other partsof the country.Vadi was responding to a query from The

Rising Sun as to why the robots at the Lenasiaintersections had not been working for sever-al weeks. He says he had personally conduc-ted a site investigation and was shocked to

find that the cables had been cut and all therobots were either stolen or completely van-dalised. This raises the issue of service delive-ry protests that left Sebokeng without robotsfor the past two months.“This theft of and damage to our roads in-

frastructure must be condemned in the stron-gest terms,” said an angry VadiHe further stated that this was the work of

a criminal syndicate and called on the com-munity and police to help the department ar-rest these criminals.TheMECwas also unapologetic in his con-

demnation of scrap-metal dealers who buystolen copper cables andmetals. He urged po-

lice to investigate and put a stop to this newtrade-crime.“These businesses live off the sweat and

blood of our people. It’s disgraceful!” he said.He urged the Lenasia SAPS to complete

the investigation as soon as possible so thatthe perpetrators can be convicted.“We must send a clear signal to criminals

that this community will not tolerate the des-truction of public assets and facilities,” heconcluded. At the time of going to press Sedi-beng Ster had sent an inquery for the estima-ted cost of the damage to robots during theprotests in the area to the Emfuleni LocalMunicipality.

It is that time of the year when the Christian community, acrossdenominations, remember the death and rise of the Lord Jesus Christ. Easteris a poignant and important annual event. Many people will travel duringthis season to visit family and friends or to join church pilgrimages. Therefore, the government, through the Departments of Health andTransport, ensures that there areminimumroadaccidents.

On behalf of the Sedibeng District Municipality, I wish you all peaceful andsafe travelling as you travel to your various destinations to meet your lovedones.

As a reflectionof the 20-year celebrationof democracy, let us in a spirit of thelateNtateMadiba, continue touching the lives of those aroundus.Let us make this Easter weekend one in which we minimise accidents on theroads. It dependsoneach andevery roaduser to exercise responsibility aswemove forward.

This is a significant Easter because it is in the samemonth where, on 27th of April 1994, everyone whowas eligible to vote voted regardless of their skincolour. 20 years on, we are preparing for the 5thgeneral elections on the7thofMay2014.

Like the eligible voters of 1994, who exercisedtheir right to cast their vote, eligible voters of2014 must cast their vote to move South Africaforward peacefully in the up-coming generalelections.

I wish all the people of Sedibeng, andSouth Africans at large, a truly blessedEaster. Let us return safe and continuetobuild our country, the economyandits people. Godbless.

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Jessie Duarte, Depu-ty General Secretary of the African NationalCongress (ANC), promised North West Uni-versity students (Vaal campus) to fully en-gage with Higher Education Minister DrBlade Ndzimande, to speed up the process ofthe National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS). The scheme is meant for studentswhose parents cannot afford to send them touniversities. Addressing students on Saturdayduring the election campaign, Duarte saidtransformation has been coming very slowlyin the institution, NWU. To transform the uni-versities needed influxes of students of differ-ent races. It has been a mammoth task for oth-er institutions tobring on transforma-tion. A grassroots ac-tivist, Duarte saidshe operates on thebasis of facts and therest will follow. Shetold students to en-courage their peers tocome in numbers andvote for the party thatliberated the country- the ANC.

Meanwhile theDemocratic Alliance(DA) complains thatthe ANC has - duringits campaign - stolensome DA membersby promising themjobs. Kingsol Cha-balala said, “ It’s ashame the ANC areso desperate. Theyhave a fear that theymight lose Gautengto the DA.” He saidthe ANC uses state

resources to mislead DA members into join-ing them. Some DA members accused theANC of inviting them to their rally at Mohala-ditoe Secondary School recently and on arriv-al gave them T-shirts and told them to posewith Duarte. “We were not made aware wewere joining the ANC. We were just informedto come and register for EPWP work,’ saidCarolina Sekano.

In Sonderwater Dali Mpofu of the Eco-nomic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Premiercandidate for Gauteng, appealed to Sonder-water residents to vote for his party. Mpofusaid 20 years is enough for change as theyhave seen no improvement from the ANC. Hesaid EFF is a party concerned with the lives

of the people: “The ANC are hooligans, aware that power is shifting out of their hands. If there are still people living without toilets,

water, there’s no good story to tell. The timefor the ANC to move out and and make wayfor the EFF has arrived,” he said.

Saying you’re sorry is the most commonway to express regret for a mistake you’vemade and communicate compassion to-ward whomever may have been hurt in theprocess. However I have become rathernauseated by a certain political party lea-der that has made ‘sorry’ an official tag-offline for his political party. I mean, he lite-

rally seems to apologise for everything, barthe air he breathes. I know that apologies areneeded when and where they are due. (Putthe emphasis on where and when they areneeded). It shows others that youwant to rightyour wrong, that you feel horrible about whatyou’ve done and you hate that you’ve hurtpeople you care about. When you apologisefrom a place of sincerity and openness, wounds are mended and broken hearts are he-aled. However, there are certain things thatyou don’t need to apologise for. For instanceyou don’t need to apologise for trying some-thing new, the thing about new experiences

is that they allow you to grow and peel backthe layers to reveal the most genuine versionof yourself, so I say, own the new experienceswith all you’ve got! You don’t need to apolo-gise for saying NO, You don’t need to apolo-gise for being YOU. What do you apologisefor when you put yourself first? I mean whatdo you really apologise for when you passio-nately go after what you want? Are you al-ways apologising? Is ‘I’m sorry’ somethingthat just spills out of your mouth automatical-ly? If so, then you may be confessing morethan an apologising. I would never apologisefor wanting to be happy. I think this guy (the

politician) needs to get his head straightand tell us once and for all what he reallywants to say before he starts to apologiseagain and again. Soon everyone will be ex-pecting him to apologise for getting invol-ved in politics in the first place, don’t youthink? On a lighter note please enjoy yourlong weekend (Good Friday and your Fa-mily Day), do please come back safe if youare going away and, if you are driving, res-pect the rules of the road because if youdon’t you will definitely ‘APOLOGISE’behind bars.Lerato…

MEYERTON. - New by-laws have been pas-sed to restrict the use of fireworkswithinMid-vaal’s borders. In the past, the rule stipulatedthat permission for using fireworks was onlynecessary for certain places such as publicareas, schools or indoors. The designated listdid not include residential areas. That by-lawhas now been changed to include “in any resi-dential area”.Anyone intending to use fireworks, must

know that if permission is granted to use fire-works, members of the public must be noti-fied 30 days prior to an the event of the time, date and venuewhen fireworks will be displa-yed. A letter of consent from the owner orperson responsible for the property on whichthe fireworks display, is proposed to be pre-sented. The owner or responsible personmustalso take out peoples liability to accept fullresponsibility for any losses and damages topeople, animals or property linked to the fire-works display. The request for more stringent monitoring

of fireworks use within Midvaal came afteran unfortunate incident involving fireworks

which led to the injury of a dog.A few local communities then gathered to

write a petition regarding the use of fire-works. The Fire Department began a processto engage with the broader Midvaal commu-nity to get their response on the issue of fire-works usage. The proposed changes werethen presented and approved at a Councilmeeting in January this year.MMC for Protection James Botsoere said

it is important as a Council that they listento the concerns of the residents.“In cases where the issues raised are valid,

wewill work together to find a resolution, andwe hope that this case shows that Midvaal iswilling to assist and support our residentsacross a wide range of areas. I must also thankour Fire Department for the active role theyplayed in following all the processes to chan-ge the by-laws.”For more information regarding the fire sa-

Sharpeville Community Policing Forummember Ndosi Mofokeng along with the MatsieSteyn staff are very happy to share themomentwith the five children towhomMofokengdonated shoes and socks. This comes after he saw children walking to school withold shoes and socks. Because he is himself a product of the school he decided togather money and help those he could. The main reason he chose to give back to theschool was to say ‘Thank You’ to the teachers who made him the person he is today. Most of these children have parentswhowork, but lowwages and unstable employmentleaves their families struggling to make ends meet.School principalMajani Nhlapo says, “Mofokeng came at the right time. Aswe approachEaster, he showed that he really appreciates what the school did for him.We are very grateful that even though he is a volunteer he took his time and madefive children very happy. Thank you verymuch. We really appreciate his efforts.” Photo:Pinky Mofokeng.

I was shocked when he showed me REAL FACES ofmy enemies LIVE IN A BIG MIRROR.

Truly convinced, I paid R100 for consultation & heperformed a special prayer, clansed me for badluck & gave me powerful love crystals plus a ring(for financial problems) to use at my workplace &business premises.

Now I am married to a very successful man who isproviding me with every good thing I ever dreamt of.There’s no amount of words to thank Habibu, but only telling everyone about him.

If we can stop using our regional squads asholiday destinations ShootingFromTheHipwould be thrilled because we can achievewhatever we desire in the field of play. No-wadays coaching our regional squads is likeriding the gravy-train.

I just said it!Guys! Coaching our regional squads is

not only about those fancy hotels you stay

in during the Safa Tournaments, but we de-mand results in the field of play. It is surprisinghow some coaches will fight to coach our regi-onal squads because they will spend five daysin a ‘FIVE STAR’ hotel. If Shooting From The Hip may ask: When

last did our teambring silverware to our regionexcept when our u/15 won the Safa Legacy Ju-nior Soccer Tournament that took place at El-dorado Park Stadium last December? In recenttimes our squads have been nothing but abunch of ‘LOSERS’ as the Minister of Sports,Fikile Mbalula at one stage called our nationalteam, Bafana Bafana. The follow-up question on this should be:

How do you feel as a coach to take playerswho are not fit to represent our region just be-cause you want to do them a favour? The problem with our region is that we do

not monitor our players’ progress and we se-lect the players who quit football a long timeago. Did somebody bother to ask why ouru/15s went all the way to the final last yearof the Safa Legacy Junior Tournament? No!It is because the coaches did their homeworkby selecting players who play in their respecti-ve teams every weekend. They selected players who are exposed to

that level of competition. I think the samemusthappenwith our u/19 squad - select those play-

ers who play for their teams every weekend. We must go to the league and check the

team sheet.Wemust select playerswho playevery weekend rather than players whosmoke Nayope in the township.Gentlemen, please stop selecting players

who bask in the sun at the shops or at thestreet corners to represent our region. Theremust be respect!

These youngstersmust be proud of repre-senting our regional squads. They must we-ar those tracksuits with pride after the tour-nament. Please let us not use our squad forholiday destinations! We demand resultsand nothing else.

Tournaments become veil for personal holidays

EVATON._ This year’s Pooe Easter SoccerTournament will form part of the celebrationof 20 Years of Democracy/Freedom. Thiswas revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport byKgokgi Sports Foundation publicist MondliNkosi. The tournament started two weeks ago

with junior soccer teams and the senior te-ams (open) are expected to start their tourna-ment programme this weekend. Accordingto Nkosi they decided to dedicate this year’s

tournament in honour of the icon NelsonMandela and also celebrating the 20 Yearsof Freedom.“ Look, football forms part of democracy

because it also played an important role inthe freedom of this country. For example thiscountry was readmitted to the internationalscene after it was banned in all sporting co-des because of the previous regime and wesaw it fitting to celebrate this in style. Theseyoungsters must be educated in the historyof our country through sport. We want to in-

vite the people and share the historical mo-ment with them so that they can understandwhere we come from as far as football is con-cerned,” said Nkosi. He also revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport

that they want wheelchair basketball to formpart of this year’s tournament.

He says this week they will have a mee-ting with relevant stakeholders to see if theycan get wheelchair basketball played on theday of the final. He says they are lookingfor only four teams for a start and next year

to involve more wheelchair basketball teamsto participate in the tournament. He adds, “We want to accommodate as

many sporting activities as we can, especial-ly disability sports like wheelchair basket-ball. This will be something extraordinarybecause in most cases disability sports areneglected.”Nkosi told Sedibeng Ster Sport that there

will be lots of entertainment on the day offinals with a host of prizes to be won by boththe winning teams and soccer fans.
