BI-WEEKLY NEWSLETTER BYVice President of Communications, Brooke McDaniel

Fellow Yellow Jackets, We’ve reached the point in the semester where things won’t be calming down anytime soon! Between the rush to get tests and projects in before Thanksgiving and Dead Week rapidly approaching, leaving a week of finals between every student and about a month of relaxation, there is no such thing as free time in our schedules anymore! As the semester wraps up, be sure that you are taking care of yourselves and your friends. Stress is never as prevalent on campus as it is during Finals season. Make use of the Counseling Center if you are having trouble keeping up, or could just use a break. As always, SGA has a lot in the works to enhance your experience on campus and in the classroom. Please see below for what we’re working on!

It’s Your Voice: External Affairs Month Open Forum:Plan to attend the meeting of the Undergraduate House of Representatives on Tuesday, November 30 at 7:30 PM in the Flag Building, room 117. UHR meetings are always open, but this one is specifically themed to hear your concerns about External Affairs and ways that we can improve our relationship with the Atlanta community. Discussion will be led by Elle Creel, Director of External Affairs. See you there!

Student-Faculty Expectations AgreementThe Academic Affairs Board is proud to announce that the Student-Faculty Expectations Agreement has finally been adopted into the rules of the Institute after passing both the Faculty Senate and the Undergraduate Student Government. Six months of deliberation and dialogue have produced a new document to replace the existing Student Bill of Academic Rights in Summer 2011. We believe this agreement will serve as the basis for improved student-faculty interaction and is a significant step towards building a relationship built on mutual respect and responsibility. The Academic Affair Board will be working throughout Spring semester to integrate this document into the Georgia Tech culture for both current and incoming students. If you have any questions or concerns about the Student-Faculty Expectations Agreement, please email Austen Edwards ([email protected])

WPFE and CIOS:Please take the time to provide genuine feedback for your professors through the Course Instructor Opinions Survey (CIOS) this semester. Your voice matters, and results from the surveys are taken very seriously by faculty and administrators for performance reviews, and in SGA’s Course Critique. Let’s help continue to improve the quality of teaching at Georgia Tech by investing in our professors by completing the surveys from 11/29-12/19 at http://www.coursesurvey.gatech.edu. For more information on the Week Preceding Final Exams (WPFE) policies and how to address concerns, refer to the SGA website at www.sga.gatech.edu/undergraduate/WPFE. Please contact John Miller ([email protected]) with questions/concerns.

Undergraduate House of Representatives: Current ListThe UHR is fully seated at this point in the semester, with every seat filled. Please see the last page of this briefing for the entire list of who is representing you in the House!
