Platinum Gazette asked MTN some questionsregard signal quality in the area after thenewspaper received various complaints aboutthis issue. Questions included data signalquality, dropping of calls and poor telephonesignal as well as no service as various times.MTN says: “MTN empathises with thecommunity of Steelpoort and Burgersfortareas, and has been tirelessly and continuallyworking on the signal problems for almost ayear. Such initiatives include projects such asnetwork upgrades. In ensuring that ourcustomers are connected and receive MTNservice, we have placed a temporarytransmission hub in the area to addresscongestion. With this said, MTN would like toappeal to the Burgersfort and Steelpoortcommunities to report individuals suspectedof theft of cables in the area. The theft of cableshas been key to the continued loss ofconnectivity in the area and thus has been ahindrance to our efforts to deliver a world-classvoice and Internet network in the area.
