This is a good time to pause and think about the past year and upcoming riding season. I know we still have a few months of “Northwet” weather to get through, but you can use the time to think about some new rides for everyone to enjoy once the warm climate returns. Lynda and I have really enjoyed the rides this year. It’s always fun to travel with good friends and share the experience. Here is the question of the month: Is there anywhere you would like to ride that we haven’t gone to yet? It’s time to share your suggestions with the chapter. Michael and Vicky, our ride coordinators, are always looking for chapter input. Let them hear from you! One of the places we would like to go to is Leavenworth, WA. The trip would take a long weekend, but I think it would be a lot of fun. We could camp or motel (which ever feeds your fancy). This ride would offer some beau- tiful scenery and Leavenworth offers some great entertainment. Our friend Steve Pattison had a recent health setback but is recovering nicely. We wish him and Debbie all the best in getting through the days ahead so that Steve continues to feel stronger. This getting old is not for sissies!!! I want to personally thank all the staff members for supporting us this year. Your help and participation has made it all possible. Our chapter can’t move forward without the help of all the members. Plan on coming to the chapter dinner/party on Dec. 13. We need your RSVP so that we can order enough food and beverages. Guess I have rambled on enough for this month. My New Year’s resolution is to get better organized and be ready to attack any new challenges that might come along involving Chapter X. SEASONS GREETINGS FROM YOUR CHAPTER DIRECTORS Merry Christmas Everyone,

We hope you had a good Thanksgiving!!

This is a good time to pause and think about the past year and upcoming riding season. I know we still have a

few months of “Northwet” weather to get through, but you can use the time to think about some new rides for

everyone to enjoy once the warm climate returns.

Lynda and I have really enjoyed the rides this year. It’s always fun to travel with good friends and share the

experience. Here is the question of the month: Is there anywhere you would like to ride that we haven’t gone to

yet? It’s time to share your suggestions with the chapter. Michael and Vicky, our ride coordinators, are always

looking for chapter input. Let them hear from you!

One of the places we would like to go to is Leavenworth, WA. The trip would take a long weekend, but I think it

would be a lot of fun. We could camp or motel (which ever feeds your fancy). This ride would offer some beau-

tiful scenery and Leavenworth offers some great entertainment.

Our friend Steve Pattison had a recent health setback but is recovering nicely. We wish him and Debbie all the

best in getting through the days ahead so that Steve continues to feel stronger. This getting old is not for sissies!!!

I want to personally thank all the staff members for supporting us this year. Your help and participation has

made it all possible. Our chapter can’t move forward without the help of all the members.

Plan on coming to the chapter dinner/party on Dec. 13. We need your RSVP so that we can order enough

food and beverages.

Guess I have rambled on enough for this month. My New Year’s resolution is to get better

organized and be ready to attack any new challenges that might come along involving

Chapter X.

We’ll be seeing you “thru the windshield”

WINTER BLUE’S

By Bruce and Rose Hibbs

Wow! Do you believe this weather? On Saturday November 8 the weather was great! I got the bike out, dressed

for a ride, and then headed off into the sun for a fantastic ride.

Then four days later the temperature drops into the twenties with white stuff falling from the sky. Doesn’t Mother

Nature know snow is very difficult to ride in?

We all know there is nothing we can do about the weather except talk about it. So we need to look at what we can

do to get ready for the riding season.

Completing a thorough TCLOCS or the Trike Check inspection will identify any problems or repairs you may need to

complete. You can find the inspection forms on our Chapter X web site. Taking time now will help us be prepared

when/if the nice weather returns.

As I sit here looking out the window and watching it snow, it’s hard to be thinking about any training we would like

to complete with our bikes/trikes. It’s not too early to put in for a Rider or a Trike Rider course in April or May in

our local area. Also, a trailer course will be offered this spring. Just let me know which one you would like to

attend.

QUESTION: You are on a group ride and the rider ahead of you displays the below signal. What is the rider trying

to communicate to the group? The answer is on Chapter X web site under Riders Ed.

It’s the time of year when we can all think about what went on during the past 12 months, reflect a

little and remember the good times. We were able to enjoy a long riding season this summer. Thanks

to our wonderful ride coordinators, Michael and Vickie, we shared rides to Depoe Bay, Multnomah

Falls, Vista House, Crater Lake, Mt. Saint Helen’s and Johnson’s Ridge, Spirit Lake, Duggan Falls, and

Veronia, to name a few. We also enjoyed the camping experience with everyone at Chapter P’s Oyster

Feed at Silver Lake. Good times were had at July’s District Convention in Lynden and August’s Re-

gion Convention in Lewiston, Idaho. All gatherings confirmed the rewards reaped from getting together

— sharing stories and rekindling friendships. Great rides with good friends—memories were made rid-

ing together on the open road and sitting around an evening camp fire. Thanks to Bruce’s newsletter

articles, members getting involved in training courses, and sharing riding tips, everyone kept safety as

a priority.

Special thanks to all who contributed articles and pictures for our website and newsletters this year.

Pete and I volunteered to take on the newsletter October 2013. Hopefully, everyone feels it represents

the chapter goals and its members.

When thinking over the “theme” for this newsletter, the words “Windows of Opportunity” keep pop-

ping up. Don’t know about your younger life experiences, but the word “Opportunity” usually meant

wise investments and projection for a secure future.

Now that we are all a little more “mature”, opportunities take on added meaning. We have all followed

our own life paths, but most would agree that financial opportunities are less frequent. So, now

“windows of opportunity” happen when we help another member, relish the thrill of a beautiful day on

the motorcycle, share laughter and cherish the idea we are still alive to enjoy another day.

Looking forward to the New Year and all the chapter “windows of opportunities” ahead.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

A little 10-year-old girl was walking home alone from school one day, when a big

man on a black motorcycle pulls up beside her. After following along for a while, he

turns to her and asks, "Hey there little girl, do you want to go for a ride?" "NO!"

says the little girl as she keeps on walking. The motorcyclist again pulls up beside

her and asks, "Hey little girl, I will give you $10 if you hop on the back." "NO!" says

the little girl as she hurries down the street. The motorcyclist pulls up beside the lit-

tle girl again and says, "Okay kid, my last offer! I'll give you 20 Bucks and a Big Bag

of Candy if you will just hop on the back of my bike and we will go for a ride." Final-

ly, the little girl stops and turns towards him and screams, "Look Dad, you're the

one who bought the Honda instead of the Harley! YOU RIDE IT!"
