Hi Chapter J, Well, I think summer is finally here along with riding season. Gale and I will be on four wheels from now on like so many others in our chapter. Gale had back surgery on May 9th and did real-ly well, but if you know anything about back surgery, you know the healing process is almost much worse than the surgery itself. He is not allowed to drive, go in a car or leave the house or neighborhood until he goes back to the doctor on June 22. Needless to say, he is about to go cra-zy being a man who got up and out every day. A day at a time is what we are doing. People from our chapter have stopped by to visit and that means a lot to us. Helps to pass the long days for him especially. Thanks for all the cards, thoughts and prayers. Don’t know how much I will be coming to chapter things the next few weeks since Gale cannot. You guys should keep on doing all the things we normally do and things we have planned to do. Everything is on calendar in newsletter along with times. Minnie will do the meeting in June if I am not there. Just a bump in the road and I hope it will smooth out in a few weeks. Any questions about anything the chapter is doing this summer, feel free to call me at home. Merle DeFord came to one of our Wednesday nite rides back in April. Sure was good to see him. He hasn’t been coming at all since Anita passed and it sounds like he is having a really hard time of it. Maybe he will come around more now that the weather is better, The snow birds are all back now and from what I hear we have been having good attendance on Tuesday and Wednesday night get togethers. That is what it is all about and why I try to keep this chapter going. Long-time friendships like we have in this chapter are so very important so let’s keep it going and remember we are not getting any younger, any of us. Please make note of things we have planned this summer, put them on your calendar and plan to attend. The more the merrier. Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and got their summer off to a wonder-ful start. Be careful out there and watch all the vehicles around you as they don’t always see the motorcycles around them. Thanks again for all the cards, thoughts and prayers for Gale. We love all you guys. The gray days of winter are gone and the sunny days of summer are here,
as we can tell by the temperatures. So now, a different kind of protection
comes on the scene. “T” shirts, shorts and sandals should not be worn for
riding. Sunburn can come quickly and not realize it, so be prepared with
lotion to protect the skin and lips. Be sure to drink lots of water to keep
from getting dehydrated. Take breaks if going on long trips and have sun
glasses by all means. If temperature is 130 degrees on the road surface, it
is the same on the top of your helmet, so prepare yourself to ride in sum
mer hot sun. Protect your assets!! Check your tires.
