Welcome to the EchoIt’s a great time to stop by and get involved with CARD’s senior programs and activities at Lakeside Pavilion. Bring your friends, have lunch at Lakeside Café and help yourself to a cup of coffee or tea, while enjoying the beautiful views of the lake. We have a number of fitness programs, a great offering of local and extended trips, computer classes, bingo and more. Mornings are busy with old and new friends dropping in for games, puzzles and good conversation. Afternoons are filled with card games, lectures and movies. Ask the front desk about our new book club “Books and Buddies” (Pg. 20) beginning at the fireside lounge October 9, 2014. Lakeside CaféJoin Passages and the Chico Area Recreation and Park District at the beautiful Lakeside Café. In our new café partnership, we have worked together to bring an enticing hot lunch to our adult community at a grand location. All lunches are freshly made and carefully planned to tempt the palette and offer great nutritional value. You are invited to come by and enjoy lunch with new and old friends alike. Lakeside Café will host lunch for adults 60 and up for a optional donation of $2.50. For those younger than 60, the cost of a meal is $5.00. World DanceBoost dance skills and confidence while dancing to music from around the world! Develop dance skills that will last a lifetime! Dances taught will be fun and structured to help dancers feel comfortable dancing with peers in line, circle and couple formations. This is a great class to take with a friend or family member! NEW Zumba GoldZumba Gold Fusion Fitness with Marci is a lower impact, energetic fusion of music, layering dance moves, fitness, stretching, and fun! This fun-filled class will assist in improving flexibility, balance, and posture. Ability modifications will be available. Classic dance steps like the Cha-Cha, Salsa, Flamenco, and Cumbia are incorporated into the fitness workout. Getting the moves right is not the goal, keeping your body moving is! Come get your groove on with Marci in the Zumba Gold Fusion Fitness class!

We have created Zumba® Punch Cards for all of our Zumba® classes. If you are interested in purchasing a punch card, please select the number of classes you would like and simply purchase your punch card on-line or at the CARD office. The card will be waiting for you on the first day of class. Cards are held by the instructor, so you never have to worry about losing it! Punch cards are good for one month from the date of purchase. If you are purchasing a class card mid-month, please purchase your card at the CARD office. Unfortunately, cards are non-refundable and non-transferable. Not available in December. Fitness for Parkinson’s PatientsDon’t be afraid to move! We invite you to join a group class for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, or other movement disorders. Strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination exercises designed to keep you moving are presented in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Most of the class is done seated and includes graceful movement drawn from yoga and dance to ease stiffness and improve mobility. Where appropriate, we will progress to movement strategies and standing exercises done with or without support to further address balance, hip flexibility, and leg strength. 9:30 class is slightly more challenging. Senior Wellness ProgramThe Senior Wellness Program is designed for adults 55 or older who have a variety of medical issues that include, but are not limited to: high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, joint replacements, cardiac and pulmonary issues. As a member of the Senior Wellness Program, you will receive an individualized program for the Water Wellness and/or the Fitness Floor class. You will be continually monitored and will progress as you gain stamina, strength and better range of motion. Introduction to Computers, level I This class teaches basic computer operation from the start. Learn about mouse operation, the keyboard, saving files, icons, menus, and more during this class. Bring a friend and sign up together. Have fun on your new adventure into the computer world. Students must bring their own laptop and power cord to every class. Introduction to Computers, level II This is a great class for those people with a little computer knowledge. Learn about some of the programs you have on your computer, the internet, and e-mail. Basics of Digital PhotographyHave you always wanted to create high-quality digital photos? Are you new to digital photography, need a refresher or an upgrade from skills toward immediate? This basic digital photography course is about learning to use functions of your camera and various lenses to take pictures of people and places with increased predictability and control well beyond mere snapshots. You will also learn how to shoot panoramic and High Dynamic Range (HDR images) that will amaze your family and friends! Bring camera, user manual, fully charged battery, memory card and lots of enthusiasm. Note: users with cameras that don’t have adjustable Program, Shutter/Time, Aperture and Manual functions may not benefit from this class. What’s New to Medicare 2015?The 2015 annual enrollment period for Part D drug plans and Part C Medicare Advantage plans will begin on Oct. 15 and will end on Dec. 7, 2014. AARP Mature Driving ClassesThe AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher course for drivers aged 50 and older. This class is offered by AARP each month. Grandmother’s ClubThe Grandmother’s Club meets on the first Thursday of each month from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This lively group is a social club and welcomes all interested grandmothers to join their monthly potluck luncheons and enjoy the companionship of long-time members. NEW Books and BuddiesCome one, come all! It’s time to get together and share the latest books or magazines you have read with old and new friends. Lakeside Pavilion is hosting a book share, once a week, at the Fireside Lounge. This is the perfect opportunity to share the book you read last week, exchange books or join in with others on books selected by you to read and discuss. Don’t be shy, come on by and meet Teresa our Book Buddy leader. There will be books available for exchange at every meeting. We will have some light refreshments as we share our latest great read! Become a Book Buddy and join the club at the Lakeside Pavilion Fireside Room! Our opening meeting will take place on Thursday October 9, 2014 at 9:30 AM. We are confident that you will like these programs… so confident that we will ensure our promise to provide that high quality. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the quality of our programs or instructors, we encourage you to contact us immediately so we can work to resolve your concern and improve the quality of our programs for all participants.

If you are not completely satisfied, contact us and we will arrange for you to do one of the following. 1. Repeat the program at no charge. 2. Receive full credit that can be applied to any other program. 3. Receive a full refund.

Currently, this guarantee applies to all of our programs except Adult Leagues, Facility Rentals, Trips and Tours, and all grant/scholarship funded programs. These programs have specific policies that apply. Your complete satisfaction with these programs is equally valued, and we will work with you to resolve your concerns.

To receive a credit, repeat a program, or obtain a refund, please contact us in writing, by phone, by email, or in person. Requests must be made within ten (10) business days after the last program meeting. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof of I.D. may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.

Cancellation PolicyIn the event CARD needs to cancel a class or program due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or any other unforeseen circumstance, you will receive a full refund of the registration fee. We understand that unexpected circumstances may also arise resulting in a need for you to withdraw from a class or program. If so, please notify us prior to the first day of the class, and you will receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to the nature of some of our programs, there are some exceptions. Please refer to the program for additional information and exceptions. Requests for refunds or transfers may be made in person, by email or by phone. Your receipt, cancelled check or proof of identification may be required. Refund checks will be processed within fifteen (15) business days.
