Magazine Proposal

Genre The type of magazine I have chosen to base my magazine on is indie, as I thought that this was the simplest and

most open genre to base my pictures on, and I also enjoy this genre! I shall be inputting a lot of images of guitars to represent the more acoustic songs. I would also like my images to be taken in a more natural setting: in a park, or the woods, throughout my magazine.

I have decided to choose Tanya Kekic for my model as I feel her fashion sense and her face would fit my magazine and music genre very well.

On my front cover, I would like to introduce my audience to quite a different, but professional looking cover. I could make this happen by taking photos of my model in a natural setting. I shall be taking some photos outside school in Ruislip lido. Preferably I would like it to be a sunny day, so the lighting would be bright and enlightening just like my genre. This would give the music more of a natural feel just how the music is created with just instruments, as it is acoustic.

I would also like my model to be smiling as the genre is fun and relaxed, but not directly in the camera. Most of the photos of my model I would like to be taken in the motion of an action, so the photos are more natural. This would give the music more of relaxed feel just how the music is created with just instruments, as it is acoustic.

On the contents page, preferably I would like this to take up a double page as then I can use a good, detailed photo throughout both sides, and then the writing on one side, with my model on the side where there is no writing. This would make the writing overlap the scenery which makes my contents page look far more busy.

Just how acoustic magazine has done here, I would like to have my model holding the guitar, and smiling towards the camera. I could include this picture in an interview page with my model. I would write out the interview in a similar, warming orange colour scheme.

Just how acoustic has demonstrated here, I would like my photos to be taken with great scenery in the background, featuring a guitar. This would fit my genre well, with the guitar being the sign, signifying acoustic music, and then relating to my theme! Although my theme is indie, I am being more specific, relating my genre more to a specific song type. This would be like my contents page, but I would take the image to cover my whole double page spread.

I am inspired by this image as I like the way Ed Sheeran is posing, looking towards the camera smiling, whilst holding a guitar. I could include an image like this, but with my model on the interview page, as I mentioned previously.

Audience My audience would be targeted towards girls as I will be including fashion into my photo-shoot, with pretty backgrounds of

nature. I also feel that my targeted genre is a lot of girl singers which would appeal towards the female audience far more increasingly than males.

I feel that my genre of music is aimed towards the mainstreamers far more than any other type of audience as the music I've selected is quite popular within the age that I have chosen to aim my magazine towards. Mainstreamers tend to blend in and fit in with the crowd so I feel this suits my genre.

By aiming my magazine towards the age group of around 16-20 year old females, I would need to include more pretty images, including good fashion. My model would preferably have to be female, so my target audience could have a role model to look up to and aspire to be. I would like my font to be delicate and go well alongside my images (so if my image was taken outside featuring nature, my wont wouldn’t be bold as it wouldn’t suit the scenery well, as it would look harsh).

Institution The magazine institution I will be selecting is Bauer media. I have chosen this as it

is quite a popular choice, as this company has worked with Q, and acoustic magazine, which I aspire my magazine to look like!

Representation I have chosen to use Tanya Kekic as my model as she is very photogenic and suits my theme well. She looks innocent to suit

my gentle music genre of acoustic. Also she sings and owns her own music instruments such as an ukulele and a guitar, so she wouldn’t look awkward holding the instrument.

I would like to take some photos of her in the school grounds, using the media recourses and the white backgrounds. I would also like to take some photos at Ruislip lido, as it would look authentic with the guitar. The images where she is outside school grounds I would like to use these on my contents page, a double page spread, with the actual content written on the let hand side.

I would preferably like my model to wear maybe denim, pretty, flowing attire. I would like her to wear the delicate attire in the scenery images as this would cooperate well with the flowers. I do not want my models clothing to be revealing as this does not represent my genre very well, and my genre would be misjudged.

I would also like my model to be looking happy, and relaxed. A bold look into the camera would take away the innocence from the whole magazine.

Janet Devlin, a singer which fits in with my genre is wearing clothing that blends in with the scenery well. I also like her facial expressions as they are fun, relaxed and natural.

I would prefer this sort of attire to be worn in my school photo-shoot as it stands more boldly. My model would be the main focus with the images taken against the white background, whereas at Ruislip Lido the background would be more of a main focus. Therefore, I would have to make sure the outfit is more of a sign to my genre.
