At the Kangan Institute situated at Docklands, Graeme completed the Deisel Mechanic apprenticeship after well over 20 years in the work force, proving to his teachers and supervisors that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Graeme headed over 300 other trainees in the industry, and is currently the main problem solving go-to man to fix tractors and farm machinery for J.B. Scott in Geelong. With this job, which entails many road trips to either pick up sick vehicles from the farm to bring back to the work shop, or travelling to dealers or farms to do more regular maintenance on the offending machinery, Graeme has had the chance to show his ingenuity in the field of endeavour which he loves. The actual Award entitled “Adult Learner of the Year” was presented to Graeme by one of the more high profile apprentice plumbers (better known as a footballer) Kevin Sheedy at the Docklands on Thursday 21st of April. This in fact follows on from his first apprenticeship completed in his early 20’s as a Fitter and Turner. He has always had a love of learning, and never knocks back an offer to upgrade his skills in the various places he has worked. He did his secondary education at Newcombe High School, leaving in year 11 to gain employment at the Geelong Nail Co., and as there was no qualified tradesmen there, he studied at night school for 2 years before completing his apprenticeship, starting again from scratch! He had a period of work at Dysons at Breakwater prior to taking up an offer to join Boral, where he spent 20 years in maintenance at the Cement Works before its demise a couple of years ago. Many of these years were spent doing night shift, to allow time to look after his property, the animals, son Harry, and work on his building his numerous sheds, equipment, tools, and fixing machinery. When the opportunity arose at J. B. Scott to get back to his trade, Graeme needed no holding back, and still thrives on his passion to fix things mechanical. In his off work time, he spends time with son Harry, looks after his animals on the property opposite Rob and Tina Earl, and is always willing to help neighbours who have need of his expert skills. If he finds a few spare moments, he is out to rebuild an odd tractor or mower at home, let alone the 1929 Chevvy which belonged to his father he is patiently restoring to its former glory. Congratulations Graeme, and may you continue to enjoy your life-long passion to help others, and make machines work well. John Bumford Apprentice of the Year Lives Here

Young artist’s new look for Council’s youth development

ARE YOU BUSY MAY 19TH?Our Winch Star is a wonderful vibrant community newspaper.

It is that way because of the great support it receives from our town.

Our Annual Meeting will be on the 19th May at 7:30.

The Star committee would love the whole Winchelsea population to come along and show their support.

However that would mean that we would need to hire out the entire football ground and it might rain.

Instead we will hire the Hub and see how many we can fit in. Hope we see you there.

A 17-year old artist from Jan Juc has won a competition to design a new logo for Surf Coast Shire Council’s Youth Development Team.

Momoko Fergusson’s Surf Coast Youth logo was one of 61 submitted by young people across the shire to help badge youth activities on the Surf Coast.

Momoko’s logo features a bird of prey flying above the ocean, which she says reflects the geography and ecology of the coast.

“The ocean is a conventional icon to use in logos for coastal areas, it immediately

lets the viewer link the organisation to the coast,” Momoko said.

“I have chosen to include a hawk’s silhouette, because these animals represent many aspects of the Youth Development Team’s values and purpose: guardianship, leadership, perspective, creativity and initiative. Furthermore, it relates back to the coast’s wildlife such as the Grey Goshawk and other native birds of prey. These components all reside within a circle to suggest unity and inclusiveness.”

Mayor, Cr Rose Hodge congratulated Momoko on her design.

“It’s great to have had so many entries in this competition, which is part of Council’s focus on ensuring local young people have major involvement in planning and delivering youth development services,” Cr Hodge said.

“Momoko has also made a great contribution to our community through her work on the Freeza Committee, Surf Coast Street Art Committee and in running projects like the Collab music recording that was launched earlier this year.

Dear Editor

Need for Change

As an Australian citizen, I am appalled at our Governments policy towards Asylum Seekers and believe their current treatment of refugees to be immoral, unlawful and wrong!

As a mother, I am also disgusted and ashamed at our mandatory off-shore detention Centres and the subsequent persecution of men, women and children who come to our country in desperate need of compassion and support.

These injustices are being repeatedly committed (in my name and in the name of all Australians) by our elected leaders who inflame negative emotions by dehumanizing asylum seekers by referring to them as “queue jumpers and illegals”. Cruel mandatory detention must end. The boats will never stop. The least we can do is to process them quickly and develop a more humane system which is ultimately more affordable and sustainable.

Ideally, Australia should lead a reform of the international system for assisting and protecting refugees. Realistically, our leaders seem to lack the moral courage necessary to do this and it is up to us as a people to make this change.

The concept of having a democratically elected Government which then goes on to silence our Doctors and journalists with threats of imprisonment if they dare tell the truth is ludicrous! What are they hiding? Obviously it is time for us as a community to stand up and fight for those who have no voice.

Could more public compassion have saved the Jews of Europe from Hitler? Surely history has taught us something.

Cardinal Pell’s disappointing response to the abuse which occurred within the Church was that he was “not aware”. I can claim no such thing with the inhumane treatment of our Asylum Seekers. I have read the papers, witnessed the growing refugee crisis in Europe, followed the news regarding the ‘Tampa Saga’ and watched the deteriorating mental health of those incarcerated in off-shore detention facilities as evidenced by the latest news of a 21 yr old Asylum Seeker setting herself on fire.

Enough is enough! It is time to come together as a community and stand up for what is right. In remaining silent and doing nothing, I realize I am in fact, seen to be accepting of our Governments policy which inflicts willful cruelty on those in desperate need of help.

Australians do have a conscience and the many ‘Refugee Allianc’e groups within the Surf-Coast and Colac/Otway Shire are evidence of this. I am not a politician, doctor or social activist; however I am part of this community and believe that we can come together as a people to make a change for the greater good.

I propose that by using music as a tool, it is possible to facilitate greater acceptance, tolerance and understanding of Asylum Seekers by uniting and putting on a mass Choral Concert in our region named “Songs of Freedom”.

This would involve our community linking up with the refugees from Colac/Geelong and presenting a one-off music performance using social justice songs to promote our cause.

Currently working on this concept with the ‘Winchelsea Refugee Support Group’, I am at present conducting drumming/ music workshops through Diversitat with the Sudanese community and other ethnic minority groups.

Having witnessed first-hand the benefits of music and singing through our local “OMM Choir”, I realize that we as a community do have a ‘voice’ and it is time to use this to promote harmony, unity and come together to take a stand and for those who have no voice.

The “Songs of Freedom Concert’ is being planned for early 2017 with rehearsals set to commence later this year. Currently sponsorship and support is being sought to help bring this idea to reality… an idea in which music will be used to do what words cannot and that is to bring about change which will hopefully one day make me proud to be an Australian.

Sincerely, Louise Brown

Sunday May 22nd, 1pm, River end of Main StreetThe new memorial will be dedicated in a short service followed by public wreath laying.

This is your WWW1 memorial. It belongs to the people of Winchelsea. You are needed at the opening. Bring your friends and family; contact anyone you know who may be interested with the details. A public invitation is open to all.

The RSVP (see what’s on page) is for numbers for refreshments and seating. Don’t let that stop anyone from attending. Be there to support those who served. Show how important it is in this District to honour our war veterans. We have a proud history of working hard through tough times to support those in need.

To know and appreciate where we are now and where we are going we must know where we have been in the past. WRSL has fought to honour our locals in the heart of our town. The community committee won funding for a WWW1 Victoria Cross Memorial. We also highlight Albert Jacka and the locals led in Jacka’s mob (14th Battalion) as well as the locals who served in WWW1 on that monument.

So bring just yourself or bring your clan. Able war veterans and ex-service or service men and women are invited to march across the bridge. Gather at the Eastern Reserve and a shuttle bus will take you to the march assembly point for a 1pm start.

The formal service will include some wreath laying by representatives of the broader group. We cannot accommodate all of the descendents in this section just as we cannot have every Guide or school child or RSL member.

All of the descendents and public will be invited to lay provided poppies and rosemary or their own wreaths or flowers at the close of the formalities.

We will not please everyone but we aim to please ourselves that we have rightly honoured our WWW1 service men and women. Look for our war veterans with service medals on the left wear relative’s medals on the right. A tag will be provided for descendents of Jacka’s mob and a poppy tag for descendents of local WWW1 service men and women.

Token poppies and badges are still on sale at the IGA and butcher’s shop. As usual our mighty Lions Club will be in the thick of the work assisting people. If

you belong to a sporting or service club please feel free to wear your uniform.

Service and sporting clubs played a big part in the lives of the diggers and rebuilt our communities following the horrors of wars. These clubs are the modern reflection of the ANZAC spirit. We look forward to seeing you there on the 22nd of May to remember. Lest We Forget.

For genuine enquiries not RSVP phone Jen or Ellen 5267 2365.

Old Kitchen TableAuthor Paul Balcombes

There's a lot of things wrong with Australia today, And I'd like to have something to say if I may. You know all about our problems with youth, Untidy, ill mannered, untamed and uncouth

Is the fact that their home life is often unstable. All for the lack of the old kitchen table.

Remember how once we would sit down as one, And Dad would say grace when the carving was done. Our own serviettes from our own special rings And we all knew our manners and etiquette things. Then our elders would tell us of custom and fable When we all sat down at the old kitchen table.

Now they're building new mansions with four-car garages, With working lives mortgaged to interest and charges. There's less time at home for the tea to be made And it's seldom today that a table is laid. There's room after room under rooftop and gable But not enough space for the old kitchen table.

At weekends the parents are chauffeurs unpaid, No wonder they're tired and their tempers are frayed As they ferry their broods to arenas of sport Where the culture of winning's intensively taught. And there's more on the tele both free and by cable, So there's no time to talk round the old kitchen table.

With the culture of rap and their baseball caps Ther'll soon be no fellers, no blokes and no chaps. When they all dress the same then it's little surprise

That the girls swear as much and as foul as the guys. So we grandparents must, just as long as we're able Keep our culture alive round the old kitchen table.

Recipe Of The WeekChocolate Popcorn

3 Tablespoons Sunflower oil

70g Popcorn

25g Butter

55g Light Brown Sugar

2 Tablespoons Golden Syrup

1 Tablespoon Milk

55g plain Chocolate Chips

Preheat the oven to 150c . Heat the oil in a large, heavy based saucepan. Add the popcorn, cover the saucepan, and cook, shaking the saucepan vigorously and frequently, for about 2 minutes, until the popping stops, Turn into a large bowl.

Put the butter, sugar, golden syrup and milk in a saucepan and heat gently until the butter has melted. Bring to the boil, without stirring, and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the chocolate chips, and stir until melted.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the popcorn and toss together until evenly coated. Spread the mixture onto a large baking tray.

Bake the popcorn in the oven for about 15 minutes, until crisp. Leave to cool before serving. (great to have in front of the tv, watching a movie).

Early Saturday morning our hall was abuzz with preparations for the annual pre-Mothers day breakfast.

Haydn Shinners headed up the team of local men working in the kitchen preparing and then serving a sumptuous feast for all the local mums expected for breakfast. Some preparations had even started the day before as the hall was set up beautifully for the special guests, with pink serviettes and floral table displays. The Lions club guys and others from the Men’s Shed turned up in droves, some thought perhaps there were so many they wouldn’t have anything to do, but believe me they were all kept busy. With Don and Murray Aisbett escorting the ladies to their seats and Murray lending the event his well received cheeky commentary, we ladies were fussed over and spoiled.

Our official guest speaker Kate Lidgerwood kept us all enthralled sharing her life passion for travelling the world and for Permaculture with us. Kate a teacher, has founded a project which is taking permaculture and enabling Iviani primary school in a Kenyan village to develop their own sustainable garden. Kate shared with us her desire to plant trees and to buy some land near the school, land that is not required as a sporting ground and can be devoted to a Permaculture garden . Kate gave us the opportunity to sponsor the students training in Permaculture at the one off cost of $25 Aussie dollars per student. We were shown a video where Wangari Maathai, a female African politician and Novel peace prize winner, spoke of the challenges of climate change and inspired viewers to do the best they can in their own sphere of influence to make a difference , even if it was just using sustainable principles and growing their own vegetables. At the conclusion of the presentation, Kate was delighted when a group of our local Winchelsea ladies offered to sponsor the entire cost to purchase a block of land in Kenya for Kate’s project!

All in all, it was a very successful morning and it was lovely to see some young mums and babies as well,

including little Hunter from Mainly Music! 50% of the proceeds from the breakfast were earmarked to support Kate’s charity, the “ONETREELOVE Foundation”, while the other 50% will go to the usual beneficiary of the Mother’s day breakfast our church’s Medical missionaries, Dr. Tim and Katherine Walker who are working training indigenous doctors in Rwanda. Tim did his own internship at Geelong hospital, where I first met him. Perhaps next year we might be able to get one of the Walkers to share with us as they are soon to return to Australia. So thank you to everyone who came and

shared in this very successful annual event, maybe next year we might see even more of our local younger mums as well! Come on guys, how about you offer to hold the fort and watch your kids while they go out and enjoy this lovely Winchelsea tradition next year!

Pregnant mums and mums with new babies carry a heavy burden. They are particularly prone to back pain, which has been linked to increased postnatal depression symptoms.

The number of times a toddler has to be lifted and carried every day, along with domestic duties and even full time work can cause considerable postural issues and significant back and neck pain.

These muscular aches and pains are often inevitable and left unchecked can lead to long term back and neck issues.

Common postural problems affecting pregnant women in particular include rotated hips, forward head posture, an abnormal curve of the spine at the neck (increased Kyphosis) and forward tilt of the pelvis. (increased Lordosis).

More and more women are turning to chiropractic care to help them face the physical demands of motherhood. As a young mother herself, Dr Emily can attribute her health and vitality and

ability to run a business and care for a young family to her regular and ongoing chiropractic care.

With Spinal Health Week just around the corner (May 23-29), there’s never been a better time to make an appointment with your local Chiropractor. Dr Emily will assess your posture and work towards improving your spinal health to assure your body is operating at it’s optimal best for the long term.

Great Ocean Road funding welcomeSurf Coast Shire Council has welcomed funding included for the Great Ocean Road in the 2016/17 Federal budget.

“The Great Ocean Road is a not only an iconic tourist attraction it remains an essential transport link for the many townships along its length, so funding to improve the safety or function of the road is always welcome,” Mayor, Cr Rose Hodge said.

Cr Hodge said the Great Ocean Road was also vitally important to local business.

“Tourism related industry is the largest employment sector in the shire and much of our tourism trade is linked to the Great Ocean Road.

“This became evident during the summer when the bushfires disrupted access to towns along the road – the economic effects were still being felt by traders months after the road had reopened.

“There is no doubt the Great Ocean Road is a vital piece of infrastructure in the region and on behalf of Council I am very pleased to see significant investment being undertaken at a federal level to support this critical and iconic road,” said Cr Hodge.

A Butterfly that turns into a petal By Vedasara Farmer - Grade 3/4

“Wow” when I saw the butterfly fly I was amazed but a minute later she turned into a beautiful blue petal.

The butterfly decided to live in Bali by the beach.

So she blasted off into the fluffy white clouds.

But 2 minutes later the clouds turned black and it rained.

The water drops dropped on her and made her fall down to the ground.

The lightning strikes hit her and she fainted on the ground.

She was that beautiful blue petal.

When she woke up she looked around her and she saw a bird.

The bird said what’s your name she said it’s Bella the butterfly, Bella asked what is your name, my name is Jombo the bird replied.

Jombo and Bella walked through the forest but 2 people came chasing after Jombo and Bella.

Bella remembered that she could turn into a petal so she ran and ran and Jombo ran and ran too.

After the 2 people chased them and suddenly a duck came out of nowhere and the duck said free ride to Bali so they sailed on the boat made out of wood.

The CWA is involved in the “Share the Dignity” drive. The idea is to help women in the Drought Affected areas of Victoria.

We were asked to donate a handbag, put items in the handbags, which these ladies may feel are a luxury, such as sanitary pads, soap, shampoo etc.

When we met for our early meeting on Wednesday 4th May the response

was amazing!! There were too many handbags to count, and donations from a number of places. We are so impressed with the generosity of everyone. Thank you.

These bags will be delivered and handed out to the many women of Victoria who are suffering due to the drought.

On behalf of the Winchelsea CWA thank you to those who donated, we appreciate your generosity.

Winchelsea Refugee Support GroupThe next meeting of the group will be next Tuesday, May 17th in the Uniting Church hall at 7.30pm.

We are honoured to have a special guest speaker, Dr. Jenny McKenzie from the Birregurra Community Health Centre. Jenny spent some time on Manus Island caring for the men on the Island held in detention at the behest of the Australian Government. It will be a great opportunity to hear first-hand about the conditions and circumstances that surround the several hundred men held there in most inhospitable surrounds. It shows the true feeling of many in the medical fraternity, as the Government have passed laws recently threatening to jail people who work in the off-shore detention centres from revealing publicly details of what happens to those that are locked up there. In a recent ABC documentary, several high profile doctors openly criticised the government’s lack of care for a man who died waiting too long for medical attention when sick on Manus Island. We will be pleased to hear of Jenny’s experience while working there, and her perspective on the process our government has in place. It shows the strength of a true democracy when people such as Jenny are prepared to stand in a public forum, with the threat of legal action from a government wishing to keep such details from the general populace.

Just over 12 months ago we were enlightened by another such person, Jason Brown, with graphic images of where he worked, which inspired us to be more active in making this issue more visible in our society, and make a difference where we can. We will hear of the progress of the refugee teenagers we have been supporting at Belmont High School. There are still plenty of “Yes to Refugees” bumper stickers available for purchase at a cost of $1. On our agenda is the issue of collecting and sending books to the detention centres. We also look forward to hearing of the progress on Louise Brown’s musical project.

All welcome, those who have a passion to see a fairer deal for those struggling to make this country their new home.

Pristine Soul Counselling is a new, fresh and exciting business that offers mobile counselling in the Geelong, Surfcoast and surrounding areas.

Pristine Soul Counselling is run by owner manager Nicole Trickey, she has vast knowledge and experience in all areas of counselling, whilst focusing on families in country areas including kids, mothers and couples, Nicole prides herself on providing affordable top quality service to those that are more comfortable talking in their own home and now in Winchelsea House on Tuesdays.

Nicole lives in the Surfcoast Shire area with her family and has worked in customer service for 20 years. Since having a family of her own, and with both kids now at school, Nicole completed her Counselling Diploma and went on to diligently complete her Bachelor of Counselling Degree with Honours. Up until a couple of years ago Nicole and her husband ran a small business, she also volunteered at Lifeline for a couple of years, because she felt like her life wasn’t busy enough!

Nicole’s life journey has not always been smooth sailing. Nicole’s experiences...directly or indirectly has been exposed to depression, addiction, mental illness, suicide, grief and abuse. Nicole says “I understand personal pain and how hard it is to watch people you love go through their own life challenges, that is where my passion for helping others comes from.”

Over the years Nicole’s learned how to put her personal values and beliefs into practice as a Counsellor. “The ‘Counsellor’ in me has always been there, now I have the qualifications, ability and determination to build a career that I was born to do”.

Nicole said, “I get to meet some awesome people. I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them as we navigate their path back to the best person they can be. I have witnessed some amazing growth and I am proud of them all”.

Being a mobile counselling service, Nicole comes into the comfort of your own home, she’s had sessions in all types of places, sitting in ‘man sheds’, kitchen tables, outside relaxing by a fire drum staring into the flames and on patios, it doesn’t matter where, it only matters that you feel comfortable.

Pristine Soul Counselling operates in and out of normal hours, obviously with my younger clients, it’s after school or sport. Weekends are also available, if required. Nicole says “It’s very important that my younger clients feel at ease, as it’s hard for them to open up, but once they do it’s incredible!”

Starting this month, Winchelsea House has offered a room on Tuesdays for counselling sessions. This is very exciting for Pristine Soul Counselling as it’s another avenue to provide help and another option for members of our community. For more information there are flyers and business cards at Winchelsea House.

Starting at $45 per hour session for locals, no mental health care plan is required, just call or text Nicole for an appointment. 0409 134 260 and you can follow Pristine Soul Counselling on facebook.

Thomson this week put out some high quality senior teams which we were unable to match on court. Fortunately our junior sides held us up securing good wins in both the 17 & under and 15 & Under grades, whilst our 13 & Under team had a credible 10 goal loss.

A Grade Thomson 88 def Winchelsea 22

Facing a high quality Thomson team we knew this would be a tough challenge for our young A Graders. Thomson started very strong and found their targets with relative ease. We were making good defensive positions but were outclassed by the strength and drive of the Thomson team. Our centre courters worked hard all game in the heat but we just couldn’t penetrate the defence and score consistently. We were a long way behind by half time but continued to push on and reduced Thomson’s score in the second half.

Best Players: Meg Royal, Connie Royal and Ericka Swaney

B Grade Thomson 62 def Winchelsea 21

We knew this week would be challenging but we started off quite strong being only two breaks down at quarter time. Unfortunately we couldn’t maintain this for the rest of the game with Thomson outscoring us by twelve goals in every remaining quarter. Tori Hose worked hard all game in defence and enjoyed her first quarter in wing defence. Thomson’s fitness and good passing choices provided little opportunity for turnovers and they basically outplayed us this week.

Best Players: Tori Hose, Bronwyn Walker and Megan Green

C Grade Thomson 48 def Winchelsea 19

After success for the last two weeks C Grade faced possibly their biggest challenge of the season in back to back

premiers Thomson. We were within range at quarter time but Thomson put the foot down in the second quarter breaking the game open and finishing with a convincing win. Charlie Delaney fought hard to minimise Thomson’s scoring opportunities, whilst Lyndal O’Grady made the most of every opportunity when we managed to penetrate Thomson’s defence and get her within scoring range.

Best Players: Charli Delaney, Lyndal O’Grady and Sally Cole

D Grade Thomson 44 def Winchelsea 17

With a couple of our D Grade regulars unavailable this week we welcomed new player Tori Muller to the club. She and Kim Tennent faced an extremely tall, strong and accurate Thomson goaling combination and capitalised on the few mistakes they made. We tried lots on different combinations to combat Thomson’s highly skilled team and allow our players some rest time during a very warm game. We tried hard all game but unfortunately we were outclassed by a well-oiled Thomson team.

Best Players: Tori Mullar, Tilly Campana and Abby Clark

17 & Under Winchelsea 42 def Thomson 13

Bouncing back from a loss last week our 17 & Under team came out strong leading by 21 goals at half time. We were once again able to try out lots of different combinations with our 8

players, all of which helped to create an excellent win. Captain Connie Royal is going from strength to strength leading Chloe Miller and Caitlyn Burgess to keep Thomson to a measly 13 goals. Up the attacking end Romy Fawcett moved beautifully and scored accurately.

Best Players: Connie Royal, Romy Fawcett and Jessica Loone

15 & Under Winchelsea 29 def Thomson 10

Our very settled and strong under 15’s side showed again why they are sitting in the top three with a comfortable win. With no changes in the game we settled in to win every quarter with a slight push out in the last. Beth Connors-Southall combined well in defence with Madi Kattwinkel and Issy Loone to keep Thomson to only 10 goals for the game. Claire Mawson was superb in centre running hard all game in very warm conditions and delivering to our goalers with precision and accuracy.

Best Players: Beth Connors-Southall, Issy Loone and Claire Mawson.

13 & Under Thomson 26 def Winchelsea 16

Facing 4th placed Thomson this week the 13’s did an excellent job with a slow start being the main reason for our loss. Hannah Miller did an excellent job in goal defence and adjusted extremely well to some very controversial umpiring decisions. She also showed great leadership with new comer Suzanna Gibbons. Courtney Spoors and Jorja Hilsdon provided great drive in attack and then delivered with precision to Laura Robertson for conversion. Great effort girls and well done for continuing to adjust your game under frustrating conditions.

Best Players: Hannah Miller, Jorja Hilsdon and Courtney Spoors

Since 1977Round 6 saw the Blues travel to Thomson’s home ground for a disappointing result in both the Reserves and the Senior games.

Reserves: Thomson 14-18-100 def Winchelsea 3-2-20.

Right from the opening bounce the Reserves were in trouble with Thomson’s superior handling of the footy. The first quarter saw the Tigers 4 goals 4 to the Blues no score. The second quarter showed the best from the Blues, but Thomson completely dominated for the rest of the match. The reserves playing list has been severely depleted over the last couple of weeks, Kyle Brown stepping up to the plate at short notice, well done to Kyle on not only filling in but also getting fair share of the play. Dean Hart also filling in, good work & thank you for helping out.

Goals: Pat Caddaye-Rose 2, Nathan Carter 1

Best: Chris Robertson, Michael Pink Nathan Carter, Will Kelly, Sam Troy Joel Karpin.

Seniors: Thomson 33-10-208 def Winchelsea 7-8-50.

The 2 o’clock game went much the same way as the earlier match with

Thomson playing a much improved side compared with last season. The Blues were unable to match their opponents speed and better ball handling around the ground. Sam Durnan battled hard all day, with Daniel Spigg also doing his best to slow the onslaught of goals. Dave Tucker and Kent Webber were missed around the ground . Hopefully the team will be back to full strength next week when they host Bannockburn at Eastern Reserve this week.

Goals: Fergus Inglis, Clinton Place, Jared Dunkley, Jackson Smith, Hayden Wilson, Daniel Sprigg, Josh Carracher all one goal.

Best: Sam Durnan, Daniel Sprigg, Jared Dunkley, Michael Bourdouvalis, Ricci Sauni, Jackson Smith.
