Outdoor Hex Chairs

When looking at the brief, I wanted to do something with outdoor spaces because that’s where I most like to socialise with friends and family in the summer. While going though the different stages of the development, I kept reflecting back to when I spent time in the garden with friends and how I could enhance that experiance.

The Hex Chairs are two chairs which are slightly different from one another. One of them has four legs and is square shaped, the other only has three legs and is in the shape of a triangle. When you put six of each of the chairs together (alternately), it will create a perfect circle. I didn’t want to take atention away from the frame of the chairs so I kept them quite simple and neutral.

The reason why I wanted a round piece of furniture was because I wanted to make it feel more communal and equal, with no-one left out on the side of a table. The design was meant for a garden, and is still very much for the garden, but i feel it also has a home in places like pubs, bars, waiting areas, beer gardens and maybe serveral other places that are similar to these.

In making this flexible and acessable outdoor furniture, I feel I have answered the brief by expressing that I wanted to create some-thing where you could share time with family and friends, share conversation with them, share the sunny weather and all round good and memorble times with your loved ones.
