Winter Wonderland Trivia Night What a sensational evening we
had at our Sunshine Primary School
Winter Wonderland Trivia night.
The fundraising crew worked
tirelessly to put together a
magnificent evening with lots of
laughs, competition and some
sensational prizes. The winning team was
“The Frozen Stiffs” with the wooden spoon
going to the “Infin8” team. A very special
thank-you goes to Jamie Robertson (Luka
in Prep L’s Dad) for his very entertaining
hosting of the night. Overall we made just
over $2,300 going towards this year’s
School Council project – Outdoor Learning
Space. I would like to acknowledge the
work of our fundraising team in particular
Felicity Gates, Rebecca Pattinson, Sonia
Fellowes, Karlee Griffiths, Carmen Borg,
Heidi Holley, Michelle Muscat, Elzette
Bester, Rebecca Webb, Anna Pedulla,
Maggie Campbell. Without their support
the night would not have happened.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT RESULTS Over the past couple of weeks I have been
meeting with individual teachers to discuss how
our students are progressing in Reading, Writing
and Numeracy. I have found this round of “data
chats” to be extremely rewarding seeing so
many students striving to be the best they can.
I feel very honoured to work with a dedicated
team of teachers who have been working
tirelessly to improve their practice and
together with their students are making
excellent gains in the curriculum.
BOOKS, BOOKS AND MORE BOOKS……. With our focus on Reading and getting our
students re-engaged with a love of all things
Literacy, we have made a significant purchase
of new books for both classroom and the main
library. Teachers have surveyed students about
the type of books they are interested in,
favourite authors and general interest areas.
As a result the school has purchased well over
1,000 new books for the students to access.
Our aim is to get these books into the classrooms
as soon as possible and therefore looking for
any parents who may be able to help out with
cataloguing, bar coding and covering. If you
are able to spare some time or are able to take
some home to do please see the office. A big
thank-you to those parents who have already
made a start!
IMPROVEMENT WORKS OVER THE HOLIDAYS All classrooms in the main building are
scheduled to get new roller block out blinds
installed and we have organised for the 2 main
playground surfaces to be rotary hoed,
refreshed and new soft fall installed ready for
the start of Term 3. Other works scheduled for
this year include painting of the main corridor
floors and stairs, clearing the front fence line of
weeds, installing values fence friends, clearing
the old veggie patch near the staff car park
and the installation of our giant pencils in the
front garden. Thank you to the Buildings and
Grounds sub committee and to families who
have donated funds to the Library and Building
fund as well as supporting our fundraising efforts.
These extras are made possible thanks to your
generous support.

Looking For A Sitter Hello everyone, my name is Manuella Pool and I am the mother of Alivia and Gabriel who both attend Sunshine Primary. I moved to Sunshine from Pakenham earlier this year to begin a new job as a nurse at the Royal Children's Hospital. Unfortunately I have shift work and my carer has recently become unavailable to help me get the kids to school.
I was wondering if there is a parent who would be willing to help me by getting the kids to school in the mornings. I would need to drop them off at your place by six to be at work by six thirty. I know this is a HUGE ask from someone I don't know, but I would be willing to pay you for your help. Unfortunately before school care starts at six thirty so I would be late for work.
If you are able to assist my situation, please contact me on 0400 858 894.
