I am honored to serve as your Potentate, and I thank each of your for having the confidence in me to lead Omar in the year 2019. I recognize the great responsibility entrusted in me and I will work every day for the benefit of our great Fraternity, our Shrine Center and for our Hospitals for Children. In order to accomplish the goals, I have set forth this year I need the support of all our members and ladies, and I ask you to concentrate your fundraising efforts

to help meet the Fraternal and Philanthropic needs as well as the needs of your unit or club. Omar’s success depends on all of you and your Shrine Center needs YOU! Let’s work together in the spirit of cooperation and the ideals of brotherly love, relief and truth, and peace and harmony. I assure you it is my intent to do what I believe is best for Omar Shrine, our members and our Hospitals. Our existence and our kids depend on us making sound decisions now so that we can continue to maintain our Fraternity and help others in the future. Lady Jimmie Kaye and I would like to thank each of you that attended the Potentate’s Ball and Installation for your support. We look forward to socializing and working with you in 2019. I would also like to congratulate the 2019 Elected Divan. This Divan is a great team for Omar and with our selected staff to help lead Omar in the coming year, I know 2019 will be a great year for all. A stated meeting of Omar Shriners will be held at Doubletree Resort 300 South Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29577 at six o’clock in the evening on Thursday, May 16, 2019 for passing on petitions for membership. Petitions for membership acted on at this meeting and candidates elected will be initiated on Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, 2019.

Article 23: Temple Membership323.5 Balloting

(A) Favorable: Subsequent to a report on a candidate’s petition, paper ballots shall be distributed, marked, collected and counted in the presence of the Nobility. If a ma-jority of the ballots are favorable, the candidate is elected to temple membership sub-ject to initiation. If a majority of the ballots are unfavorable or if the votes are evenly divided, the candidate is rejected. The presiding officer may call for a collective ballot.(B) Written Objection: A written objection, signed by at lease 3 members of the temple in good standing, presented to the Potentate or the Recorder pri-or to the time balloting is commenced, has the same effect as an adverse ballot.(C) Written Objection Deadline: In temples where, notice of all candidates’ petitions has been mailed to the members not less than one week before the date set for the balloting, any written objection provided for in the subsection(b) must be received by the Potentate or Recorder at least 48 hours before the time specified in the notice for balloting. (D) Finality: After the balloting is complet-ed and the candidates are declared elected and notified, no objection made thereafter with respect to the candidates may be considered unless ordered by the vote of the temple.(E) Reapplication: A rejected candidate may not apply again for 13 weeks.

Notes from the Oriental Guide First of all, I would like to thank the nobility for your trust and support in myself for

the office of Oriental Guide for 2019. Stefani and I would also like to thank all of the Nobility Ladies and the Divan Ladies for the warm welcome she received as one of the Divan Ladies. The Installation weekend was fun filled for everyone that attended.

I would like to congratulate Illustrious Sir Mark Murray to his position as Potentate and all of the other Divan members on their selection. I would like to also congratulate all of elected Unit and Club Officers for the 2019 year. With this opportunity I want to ensure you that Stefani and I will continue to work for the Shriners Hospital, Omar Temple and ALL of the nobility of Omar. We are excited to not only work for you,

but to work with you as we start this amazing journey. You are what makes Omar great and it will take all of us working toward the same goal in order to make it successful. Remember we don’t get burned out by what we do, we get burned out because we forget our “WHY”. WE DO IT FOR THE KIDS! Good luck to all the clubs and units on a productive year, I look forward to visiting with all of you and supporting your fundraisers. SASA Spring Festival of Shriners is being held in Kingsport, Tennessee on March 28 – 30, 2019. The SASA Spring Festival of Shriners Director General and Staff are excited to host this event. If you have not made your reservations,

SASA Fall Festival of Shriners will return to Myrtle Beach again this year, September 19-21, 2019. Mark your calendars now and plan to come to the Beach and have some Fun in the Sun. Recorder’s Ramblings To all Nobles who missed our recent Installation in January you missed a great event. Our Potentate Mark Murray and Lady Jimmie Kaye really did a great entrance. We had to get them out of jail. WOW! What a dilemma.

We would like to congratulate all the officers who were elected to their next position. As Shriners we enjoy a bond of brotherhood and we look to each other, despite our vast age differences, for encouragement, support and assistance in times of difficulty, fun and fellowship.

Shriners build lifelong friendships with men of good character and upstanding values. Our satisfaction comes from serving others especially, our Shrine Children. The fun we have is endless in the range of various activities and events that many of us actively participate.

Here at Omar Temple, we have a program titled “Adopt a Brother”. We have so many Brothers who have not paid their dues for one reason or another. As a Brother, Unit or Club, it would be great if you would donate one or two years of dues to give your Brother a helping hand. All donations will remain anonymous and will only be used to help your Brother in need. A special account has been created for these funds to give active accountability.

Remember, we are all Brothers and every once in a while we need a little help, but are just too proud to ask for it, so let’s give a hand to our Brothers in need.
