attached flyer for more information. It is that time of the year again when we kick off our fish fries. The first one was on February 28th and I would like to thank the Motor Corps for working this event. We had a movie night after the fish fry. Everyone enjoyed the movie and time together. And you can’t watch a movie without popcorn…thank you, Jim Smart, for making our movie popcorn! It is time for the 1st Annual Sportsman Raffle on March 7th. Please do that final push and sell those tickets. If at all possible, please get your money and tickets sold into Antioch ASAP. We need these before the event so the tickets can be verified, which takes time. We will be setting up for the Sportsman’s Raffle the evening before and we appreciate your help. The units and clubs can also come in and set up their booths for the side raffles that

evening as well. This month, we will be continuing with our fish fries every Friday evening, starting at 6pm. Activ-ities will start at 7:30pm each week. We will also have Monte Carlo, card games, and 50/50 raffles. Please come out and support these fish fries (which are also fundraisers) for the unit or club that is helping work each dinner. We will have a March Madness Cornhole Tournament at Antioch on Saturday, March 14th, start-ing at 2pm. Light snacks will be available. It will be $20 a team to enter and prizes will be awarded. If anyone has a cornhole set and is willing to let us borrow it for this event, please contact me on my cell phone or call the office. I would like to get 10 boards brought to Antioch a couple days before. On Tuesday, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, Antioch is going to have an Irish Dinner starting at 6pm in the dining room. The cost will be $15 per person. Our very own Pipers will be entertaining us. Come out and spend the evening with your Antioch family and enjoy some good old-fashioned corned beef, cabbage, and shepherd’s pie. YUM! Saturday, March 28th, we will have breakfast with the Easter Bunny. This will held in the dining room. This event will start at 9:30 am. Please call Pam to make reservations. This is a very busy month, but there are many opportunities to have FUN and spend time with FAMI-LY and FRIENDS of Antioch. I hope to see you at one of the events this month!

What a short Winter! The dust covers are coming of the cars, bikes, and the smaller vehicles. We are get-ting them shined up. The Photo Unit’s cameras are very High Def.We like when the sun reflects off at the right angles, rather, than show the dust. Plus, the pressed uniforms look very sharp. New/Old Nobles and Ladies, inter-ested in taking photos, and attending functions, activities, and parades? Join us! We meet on the second Wednesday, of every Mouth, 7:30 p.m. for a short meeting at Antioch. “Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world.”- Bruno Barbey

PROVOSTGUARDBy Noble Tom Hail Our March meeting at Antioch is Wednesday, the 4th at 7:00pm. Just a few short days later, on the 7th, Antioch will be in the midst of our 1st Annual “Spring” Sportsman’s Raffle at the Greene County Fairgrounds. This will be our third raffle and here’s to it being the most profitable one for our Shrine.

The Provost enjoy “working” the event and seeing the grins of those No-bles, Ladies or private citizen whose name is called, announcing they had won a prize. And boy, do they have a lot of prizes to distribute! There are, of course, the handguns, rifles, shotguns and muzzle loaders to possibly win. But so much more to be won in the fishing, hunting, kayaking, grilling and camping “outdoor” fun. Then everybody’s favorite raffle prize: 15 chances to win cash! Doors open to the public at 10:30 am. Plan on coming down, maybe your name will be drawn to win one of the over 100 prizes!

ANTIOCHGUN CLUB

By Noble Tom Hail

The Gun Club meets at alternating monthly locations between Antioch and the Vandalia Range & Armory. Noble Doug Hague and his Lady Linda, owners and operators of VR&A, have been so very hospitable to us, allowing our club to gather there and shoot Gun Club events on their ranges.

They have also been a big supporter of our Shrine during the last two Sportsman’s Raffles. If you have the chance to stop by the Greene County Fairgrounds during the raffle Saturday the 7th, stop at Noble Hague’s tables and say hello to him and Lady Linda who will be hard at work for Antioch.

We held our first Unit meeting of 2020 last month and would like to welcome Chief Rabban Scott Fitzgerald as our Divan represen-tative for this year. Our officers for 2020 are Jackie Butler-Presi-dent, Jim Smart-Vice President, John Klump-Treasurer, and David Stamper-Secretary. August 30th has been set as the date for our Annual Car Show. More discussion regarding the show and possible new ideas will be held at our next meeting. The show is

bolstered by the participation of other Units, Clubs and Nobles mak-ing this an event for all of Antioch Shrine. The Sportsman’s Raffle and the Circus are rapidly approaching -- our Unit as well as all of An-tioch members need to show strong support for both events, as they are a major source of operating expense funds for our Temple. Don’t forget the Friday evening fish fries. Spring Car Tip -- While you are driving, keep an eye out for pedestri-ans, especially on warm days. Res-idential, shopping and recreational areas will have more pedestrians, so it is especially important to be aware of those who are walking.

Happy birthday to Noble Ron Hardin, Jeff Shaw 33, Bob Davis 33, and our own Protocol Chairman Illustrious Sir Ben Hardin, 33. Illustrious Sir Scott Lipps is the Antioch Representative and current President of the Ohio Shrine Association, which is a six-year obligation. I do hope you will support Scott this year as he has an excellent agenda planned for April at the Hilton Garden Inn in Springboro. If you need details, contact the Antioch office, where you can also get the pricing and make your reservations. This is a great annual event and a rare opportunity for you and your family to meet and greet Past Potentates, Divan members, Ladies and Nobles for our fellow Ohio Shrine Centers.

Noble Don Hoke and President Doug Boyd are planning a new uniform look for the Greeter’s Unit. There will be more particulars at our next meeting on March 10th at 10:30 am in the Antioch Past Potentates lounge. Illustrious Sir John Bull announced at the Antioch Senior’s meeting in February that the Shriner’s Cincinnati Burns Center will be moved to the Dayton Children’s Hospital soon. He also stated that everything looks very favorable. Having volunteered for 8 ½ years as an Associate Member of the Lexington Board of Governors, I know Antioch and the Dayton board of Governors will need a core group of volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. What an outstanding opportunity for us to shine for Shriners International, while supporting our 2020 Divan. There is a new video in production we all hope to preview soon so that we will be well-informed about the facts concerning the new Dayton Shriner’s Hospital. Mark your calendar for the Greeter’s annual picnic. It will be at Noble Frank Finney’s house on Sunday, September 13th at 2:30 pm. Please remember Greeter Tom Blanton and wish him a very speedy recovery.

Spring is just around the corner, which means plenty of fun events to attend! Middletown Shrine Club is working hard preparing for our annual Mother’s Day car show held at Smith Park in Middletown, Ohio. Come out and join us for cars, food, and a great time with Nobles and Ladies of Middletown. We would also like to give a huge con-gratulations to our newest officers. We would like to welcome our new Presi-dent; Alan Risner, Vice President; Greg Hall, Treasurer; David Reed, Secretary; Joseph Jennings (JD), Chaplain; James Thayer. On behalf of everyone at Mid-dletown Shrine Club, we look forward to what 2020 has in store for all Nobles and Ladies. Boy Howdy!

Attention Antioch Golfers:

The Antioch Shrine Golf Club would like to invite you to join our Golf League. This is, also, a handicap golf league, so you do not need to be a Pro to play. After golf you can join us on the patio for socializing and lunch. League Fees are $15.00 a year, plus weekly green and cart fees.

We begin play on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 and end on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 with our Tourna-ment Scramble. If you are interested in joining us, contact Noble Jimmy Mack at E-Mail: [email protected] or by phone (937) 478-0440 before March 25, 2020.

Nobles and Ladies, For 2020, Antioch will once again have a Tent Circus! Our Promoter, Tarzan, has secured a site at the Dayton Mall for the event. So we have the “prime location”, now we need to make this happen. The Dates are Thursday, April 2nd through Sunday April 5th. We have positions to fill. If you would be interested in helping in any of these, please let me know, [email protected] or [email protected]

I will create maps and further details and schedule a meeting in March to prepare. This Circus for this year will be a turnkey event of sorts. Antioch will receive 20% for all pre-sale tickets we promote, and 10% of the tickets sold at the gate during the event. So the location will sell very well as this is a high traffic area, as many of you know. We will work on next year’s event, if all goes well, to ratchet this up and we could really make some money. This year is a test location and market and Antioch will have zero risk, which is only an upside, but we need your help to man the areas listed. If you can help, look for information on our meeting in early March. I will have info for the Lead-ership meeting this month and will also send email and OneCall notifications. Thank you for all that you do! I look forward to seeing how we can grow this opportunity. So, as always, your input and ideas will be welcomed!Kevin G Sweeney, P.P.2020 Circus ChairmanPage 8 p A.C - March 2020

DAYTON HOSPITAL UPDATE

John Bull, Jr. – PP, Rob Fickert, Kevin Sweeney – PP SHC Board of Governors

NOBLES & LADIES…

As your Board of Governors representatives, we are excited by the announcements that will bring Shriners Hospitals to Dayton. The three of us will be involved in various aspects of the transition and will use this article space to keep you updated on its progression.

ANTIOCH will take a big part in the future of the new Dayton Shriners Hospital. Antioch will now be forever known as the Host Temple . As the Host Temple, Antioch will hold various volunteer responsibilities, taking care of the needs of our patients and their families needs. Today, I am going to talk about one of biggest responsibilities that will fall under Antioch’s purview. This is TRANSPORTATION. It will be different than the current operation. Our current transportation team, the Roadrunners, transport patients and families to and from SHC in Lexington, Cincinnati and sometimes Chicago, or Erie. This part will not change, other than removing Cincinnati out of the mix. We will now have the added responsibility of picking up families at local airports, taking extended-stay families shopping, and to or from the hospital, the hotel, or wherever they may be staying. There will be daily mail runs from the hospital to the administrative offices. All of this is still in the planning stages. In April or May, I should have a more definite plan for this part of the new program, and we will have meetings to discuss how it will proceed going forward. I will come to your unit and club meetings along with hospital staff to answer questions.

Over the next six to eight months, Kevin, Rob & I will also have presentations on various ways YOU can help at the new Dayton Shriner's Hospital. There will be some volunteer opportunities inside the new hospital where we will need both Nobles and Ladies. A lot of this is still in the planning and design stages.

What happens here in Dayton will be used to help design the concept for future Shriner's Hospitals, of the "Hospital within a Hospital" model. We look forward to this great opportunity for Antioch to shine again!! They chose Dayton because we have proven to Shriner's Hospitals for Children and Shriners International that we will accept and step up to any challenge!

support, some of the Bobbies and other Nobles jumped into Caesar's Creek to support the Special Olympics. The Y.M.C.A Speedo theme showed us more of the Bobbies than most of us ever wanted to see. Thanks men for raising money for a great cause. We have a ton of events coming up, including: the Bobbies will host one of the Fish Fries on February 27th (I am sure Noble Zell will have his world famous Showdown), the Shrine is having a Cornhole Tournament March 14th, an Easter party on March 28th, and the Shrine Circus will be April 2nd-5th at the Dayton Mall. Coming soon: the Bobbies will raffle off a Sig Sauer. Tickets will be $5.00 each. Have a great day, we will be riding in parades soon!

BOBBIE BITS

During our January meeting, Illustrious Sir Todd Rider installed our new President, Noble Barbarino, and our new Vice President, Noble Cline. Good luck men as you lead us in the upcoming year! We are discussing some very exciting ideas and in our February meeting, we took a vote to change our bylaws. If you are looking to join the most award winning unit in the Shrine, there is no better time than now to join the Bobbies! Our comedy night was a huge success. Thank you to all that came out to support the Bobbies. Speaking of

We are enjoying 2020 so far. We held the East West Shrine Bowl game event at Buffalo Wild Wings in Beavercreek in January. We handed out raffle tickets and awarded prizes throughout the game. We even sold some Sportsman’s Raffle tickets to the public! The Membership Team was very excited to learn that Antioch Shrine achieved Silver status for meeting our new membership goals. In 2018, we earned Bronze status so we were thrilled that we are making a comeback! In the past, Antioch was always one of the top Shrines in GLSA for membership. This is very exciting and thanks to all of YOU for making this possible. Do you have ideas to bring in new Nobles? JOIN US! We need more Nobles and Ladies to help the Membership Team. Check out the calendar and drop by one of our meetings.
