The role of a volunteer at the House is both a rewarding and fulfilling one. As one who volunteers on the reception desk, the tasks are varied and interesting. It is a place of fun, laughter and warmth, as well as some-where you want to return to. I would recommend volunteering here to anyone who wishes to embrace the community spirit in a setting which does so much to try and cater for all needs. If you wish to know more, you are welcome to visit us.
Volunteers needed
We need volunteers for reception and administration duties. We can provide training and volunteering is a great way to gain experience, skills and new friends whilst helping the community.
Position Available — Green Officer
Are you interested in meeting the challenge of global warming in a proactive and positive way. Winch House is in need of a Volunteer Green Officer to assist the house to fulfill its commitment to the Eco Living Project. This project is being funded to support all the Community Houses in Surf Coast and Colac Otway Shire’s to reduce their carbon footprint on our environment. 2009 has been another year of change, and the Committee of Management are very appreciative of the work of staff and volunteers who have made significant contribution to the ongoing growth of the House in so many and varied ways.
We are indeed sorry to be losing the efficient and cheerful professionalism of Gayle (Book keeper) and Alex (Education programmer) as of December 2009. Their contribution to Winch House has been "above and beyond", for which we are very grateful.
I hope that in the New Year members of our community take advantage of the opportunities and services detailed here. They have been devised with you in mind!
Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday period from all at Winchelsea Community House.

Surf Coast Shire has given the community garden a seeding grant, which will assist us with stationary, postage, advertising (if required) etc. At the time of writing we are still waiting to hear if we have been successful in our funding request with Regional One Credit Union which will assist in fencing the community garden site. Members are happily exchanging seedlings and plants as well as ideas. We hope to see you soon in the community garden.

Do you know about the Winchelsea Early Years Networ k? The Winchelsea Early Years Network was established late 2006 in coordination with Glastonbury Child and Family services . The network comprises of a number of representatives from a variety of Early Years and Community service providers, including; Glastonbury, Surf Coast Shire, Hesse Rural Health, Maternal Child and Health, Winchelsea Playgroup, Winchelsea Primary School, H.M Kininmonth Kindergarten, Winchelsea Community House, Occasional Care, and Geelong Regional Parenting.

The Network has been responsible for obtaining two grants via the Surf Coast Shire Community Grants to support with the Winchelsea Festival and to purchase car seats for the Winchelsea Community bus. It has provided the opportunity for two 1.2.3 Magic parenting sessions to be conducted in Winchelsea; supported the kinder with a beach awareness day; supported and acted as an advisory committee for the Glastonbury PLAY and HIPPY pro-grams; strengthened communication amongst Early Years Services, and allowed the opportunity for members to increase knowledge on available resources/services through the use of numerous guest speakers.
