■ I say then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16 Moments of conversion seem to come when we least expect them. I was recently in the middle of a spirited conversation with my husband when I suddenly realized that my perception of the situation might not be correct. In fact, I became aware of my tendency to jump to the “only logical conclusion” without considering other explanations. Self-righteousness can be a telltale sign that we are caught up in what Paul calls “the desire of the flesh.” Nothing feeds our pride and inflames our rage like being convinced that we are on the right side of a cause. How many families and parishes have suffered permanent damage because no one was willing to step back and consider that their adversary’s point of view might have some validity? Spirit of love, continue to remind

me that patience, kindness and

generosity are the authentic signs of

your presence. Terri Mifek

FR. GARY ADDING A PARISH!

As some of you have heard already, Bishop Lennon recently announced that our own Fr. Gary Chmura, in

addition to continuing as Pastor here at OLP, will be the new Pastor at St. Adalbert Parish, one of the churches that closed and will now reopen. No details are clear yet. Let’s keep the parishioners there and Fr. Gary very much in our prayers. More to come soon.

SEWING GROUP

A reminder for members and the parish in general: after a wonderful season sewing baby blankets for the Cleveland Christ Child Society’s babies in great need and knitting Prayer Shawls for our ill parishioners...we had our “Wrap-up Luncheon” on Wednesday, JUNE 27 at Larchmere Tavern. Now we are on a summer break until school resumes in the autumn. We all extend many thanks to the generous Sewing Group ladies who do so much all year, Sept.—June. Have a good and well-deserved rest this summer, ladies!

FAITH OF AFRICA A HIT AT

OUR LADY OF PEACE

CHURCH!

Well….we know we said a big and hearty “THANKS SO MUCH” to so many involved in this wonderful Mass and continuing celebration last weekend, but...we cannot resist sending our very real and joy-filled appreciation once again. What a fantastic, colorful, musical, and beautiful day it was for us all! There are too many parishioners to name you all, who did so much to make this day a marvelous reality, but we mention the hard-working leaders especially here: Overall planners Marcia Wittenbrook and Susan

Tetzlaff, our Music Director Matt

Fodor, Eucharistic Minister Chair Joan Kimmel, Usher/Greeter Chair Chris Cullen; our set-up expert, Luis

Castro, behind the scenes leaders, the Hoover Family; Kitchen “Master Chefs” Patrick and Sue Ann Riley,

and committee members Jackie

Harrell and Regina Tuma . Together with those many parishioners who worked under you leaders, you were like a fine-tuned orchestra, making sure everything went on time and as planned. Volunteers everywhere could learn so much from each of you. Way to go! And God bless you all.

SUMMER ENTERTAINMENT!

Here’s a great way to put some music in YOUR life! Summer’s in full swing now, and….our

parishioner Norma Clark will happily play the piano and sing your favorite songs in your home for your summer party! (Song lists and tapes available.) She donates a portion of her reasonable fee to Our Lady of Peace parish. Norma also gives lessons in voice, theory, music, and more. References will be provided. Please call Norma days 216-799-9703 or after 7 PM at 216-533-7545.
