Loving Father on this Thanksgiving Day we pause to re-member how grateful we are to you for our home, our clothes, our friendship and this food. We know that throughout the world there are other families like ours who do not have good and nourishing food. We promise to help those who are in need of compassion in our own communi-ty. We promise to work for justice in our own country and throughout the world. Loving Father, on this Thanksgiving day we thank you for all that you have given us. Sanctify our efforts to bring peace and justice to our world as we ask you to bless this food which we receive gratefully in the Name of Jesus Our Lord. Amen.

YOUTH CORNER

“GIVE THANKS”

It’s approximately eight weeks since our children re-turned to school. Our busy lifestyle of soccer camp, dance, gymnastics, karate, music lessons and religious education has resumed. The weather is much cooler and leaves on the trees are changing colors, reminding us, of how great God is. Indeed, gratitude is a virtue that our human nature leaves by the wayside. I don’t know if we so much mean to be ungrateful, as time is easily taken for granted-we forget the source, especially in the mo-ment of joy. At times we can also have unrealistic ex-pectations and thus we fail to recognize the gift that God has blessed us with. As you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends, remember that God is the giver of all good things. An attitude of gratitude moves the heart of God, as it moves the heart of anyone who is the ob-ject of sincere thanks. St. Paul invites us to “Give thanks in all circum-stances.” (Thessalonians 5:18). He also adds with force “And be Thankful”, (Colossians 3:15). In the sight of God, we are all lepers, our souls are filled with sinful sores despite our great qualities, and our generosity, we have sinned and continues to do so. Yet God our Lord always forgives us. His magnifi-cent sun rises on us each day, and warms our lives, grows our food, and shines our journeys. He is always inviting us back to Him. This Thanksgiving, as we carve that juicy turkey and enjoy that velvety pumpkin pie with all the trim-mings, may we resolve to be the leper that not only comes to Him for forgiveness and healing. Let us not forget to return and say, “thank you God”. Let us al-ways remember to thank Him daily for all he has blessed us with. Happy Thanksgiving Family, Maxine M. Dinnall Coordinator Youth & Young Adult Ministry

The Sacrament of Marriage Since Catholic marriage requires a time of preparation, arrange-ments should begin at least six months before the proposed date of the wedding to allow for the Marriage Preparation Program. Registered, participating and contributing parishioners, not a third party, may contact the parish office to begin the process. Pastoral Care of the Sick If you are entering a hospital for surgery, experiencing a pro-longed or serious illness, or are very weak due to advancement of age, call the parish office to arrange for the Sacraments of recon-ciliation, communion and anointing at home. We can also arrange for a Eucharistic Minister to continue to visit you with the Blessed Sacrament. We are here to serve you, please call. Funerals The family member or friend handling the funeral arrangements are asked to contact the pastor to arrange a consolation visit from one of the Priests. He will help you with any questions you may have with planning the Wake and Funeral Mass. The Parish wish-es to be with you at this moment of need, all other arraignments involving the church must be initiated by the funeral director. Strict adherence to the Roman Catholic Ritual for Funerals will be followed in all parish involved activities. Proof of Parish Participation References and proof of parish residency for both civil and reli-gious purposes can only be provided for registered parishioners. Catholic Schools offering a discount for children of parents who are active members of their parish usually require that the family be registered at least six months previously in their home parish. It is also assumed that the children are registered in the religious education program of the home parish.

To all our Visitors: We hope you felt at home and in the presence at the Feast of our Lord with your brothers & sisters in Christ. We pray you will join us again!
