■ Rising very early before dawn,
He left and went off to a deserted
place, where He prayed. Mark 1:35
In the midst of a pleasant dream I opened my eyes as the dawn was silently pushing the darkness from my bedroom window. Wavy streamers of pink and gold peeked out from behind the shrouded clouds. The freshly brewed breeze of the young day filled my room. I could hear the full-throated birds chanting their morning psalms of praise. Joyful peacefulness had come to visit me, and I was grateful. Sounds of gladness floated through the open window of the room, through my mind. The mistakes of yesterday took flight, and new and better possibilities were present. As the horizon was lifting the great orange ball, I heard a distant echo of ancient words: “Let there be light.” That was my morning meditation. I understand why Jesus liked to pray at the dawn of day. We thank you, God, for each new creation.

ROOTED IN FAITH—
FORWARD IN HOPE
If you all remember, we explained at the time that, of the total funds for this special diocesan appeal, 70% went to the Diocese for their programs, and 30% to our parish. This percentage split was for monies received up to our parish goal amount. Anything over that amount, we would receive 70% and the diocese 30%. It was through the extraordinary generosity of YOUR gifts of time, talent and treasure that we were able to not only meet our goal but to nicely exceed it! And...we are happy to let you know that we have recently received our first distribution check for our share in these funds—in the amount of $23,222!! This check allows us to begin to implement the local plan we developed for our parish: continuing roof repair and parking lot replacement. Subsequent distribution checks will be issued quarterly, and we will keep you informed as the plans unfold and work begins. May God bless you all for you commitment to OLP and to the Catholic Church in Northeast Ohio!
CATHOLIC CHARITIES
Following up on our notice last week about the upcoming annual Catholic Charities Campaign, have you received a postcard in the mail? “I am Catholic” is the theme this year, and there are many active Catholics speaking out about how being a Catholic helps them to see themselves as sharing in the Lord’s work here on this earth and among all people. This theme calls to mind the unity, strength and good we can accomplish together in faith. The impact of Catholic Charities in our cities and neighborhoods cannot be understated. Please prayerfully consider an increase in your support this year. To view some wonderful, inspirational stories, go to
