Greetings Everyone! My name is Royce Kitts and I am a library science graduate student here at Emporia State University.

I was born in Dallas, grew up in Springfield Missouri, and now live outside of Manhattan, Kansas in a little town called Keats (named after the poet.) It is a quiet little town of about 100 people. My wife Miriam, my son Harrison, and I live in a 120 year old house. (something that I just can’t quit telling people )In my free time you will probably see me driving down a dirt road with a pickup full of fishing gear, with my son next to me.

My work life: I have been a librarian for about 6 years now.I currently work as a reference librarian and honestly enjoy going to work. There is something very satisfying about helping people out. Something I am sure that you folks enjoy about your future careers as well.

My main work focus is on technology and how to make it work for us at the library. (Somehow I still manage to have hair!)

As I have been told, you folks are taking a Nursing Theory course?

Theory courses are fun aren’t they? I just finished the last of mine this summer, and was hoping that after 6 theory courses I wouldn’t even have to say that word again for a long time.

But theory can be fun, it is the foundation upon which all learned thought is built.

My future plans are to finish school and become the director of a public library. This might take awhile, but I have patience.

Looking far ahead, I would like to be an instructor in Library Science. I think that my knowledge of technology and user needs bring a much needed skill set to the discipline.
