OUR SOLUTIONS

On average only 20-30% of server capacity is exploited. Still an idle server consumes 65-70% of the power consumed when it is fully utilized.

eco4cloud consolidates the Virtual Machines on as few servers as possible. Servers are either fully utilized or hibernated.

OUR SOLUTIONS

The solutions available today are semi-manual, extremely complex, poorly adaptive, not scalable. The problem requires exponential time if solved with a deterministic approach.

eco4cloud uses a statistical approach to assign Virtual Machines to servers. Thanks to this approach, eco4cloud is automatic, simple, adaptive and over-scalable.

OUR SOLUTIONS

Available solutions do not prevent overload events, caused by load peaks, wich may deteriorate the QoS perceived by users.

eco4cloud moves Virtual Machines from servers before they get overloaded. This helps to increase the QoS.

CONSOLIDATION PROCESS

1. Assignment of VMs to servers is driven by workload-based probabilistic trials

2. VMs are consolidated: servers are either used with high efficiency or unloaded and hibernated

ADVANTAGES

from 20% to 60% depending on the characteristics of the data center

consolidation of VMs releases a large % of servers, which can be assigned to other tasks

the occurence of overload events is highly reduced

eco4cloud works on top of all main Virtualization Platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V...)

each server autonomously decides whether or not to accept a new VM

+ ENERGY SAVING

+ RE-UTILIZATION OF RESOURCES

+ HIGH QUALITY OF SERVICE

+ VERSATILITY

+ SELF-ORGANIZED APPROACH
