From this question on the SurveyMonkey I can conclude that the majority of the audience that this survey was presented is male. This would fit the usual stereotype for rap music / magazine audience.
42% of the people who were presented with this survey were within the ages of 15-20. This connotes that my music magazine must stereotypically appeal to a younger audience, rather than an older one. I could appeal to an older audience by possibly covering some artists from previous decades.
48% of my participants said that a large main image was the most important feature on a magazine cover. This implies to me that a large image on my front cover is more important over any other typical magazine conventions.
55% of my participants would prefer to see Eminem on the front cover compared to some of the older artists such as Dre and 50 Cent. This connotes that for the magazine to be popular I must use some of the latest artists compared to the older artists.
48% of the respondents said they would much prefer to see a magazine cover that has bright colours in order to catch their attention. Stereotypically a rap magazine would contain dark colours, so I may have to use dark colours, with some bright colours in key areas.
Similarly to Question 3, 40% of my participants said that a main image catches their attention on a magazine. The second most common thing that was selected by participants was a free giveaway or exclusive content. This illustrates to me again, that a main image is most important, but must also include free giveaways or exclusive content.
Question 7 had very close results. 52% said they would NOT like to see an article about how hip-hop / rap has developed over the years. This signifies (De Saussure) to me that this type of article would not be very popular inside a music magazine and should not be included in mine.
60% of my participants said that it would not matter how the artist on the front cover looked. However 28% said they would prefer to see them looking informal rather than formal. This suggests to me that I should use a main image that is informal looking to appeal to my audience.
When asked if they would prefer an interview or story with/about an artist, 44% of my participants said that they would prefer to see both. There was also an even 24% split between an interview only and a story only. 8% said they would not like to see either. This connotes to me that I should have both a story and interview on the same or separate artists.
The final question my participants were asked was whether they would prefer a download, poster or a competition to be included with the magazine. It was a close split between a download or poster. However 52% said they would prefer to have a poster included. This suggests to be that I need to advertise somewhere on the cover that there is a post included inside the magazine.
