QUESTION ONE QUESTION ONE

It is clear from this question that most people who completed my survey thought they would expect to see a big and bold font on a poster promoting a singer as 75% chose this answer. Nobody chose the fonts italics and plain but 25% chose elegant swirls. From these results it shows that my audience would not expect to see something boring and plain, they would instead need a font to stand out so its eye catching. I think its important that the font which I use needs to be big so people will notice what the product is advertising. I also feel that by using elegant swirls it would draw the audience attention as its unique and this will also ensure the audience what genre I am promoting.

QUESTION TWO QUESTION TWO From this question the results clearly show that it’s colours which attract them to a poster and digi pak. Colours are something which catches the audiences attention because they can be bright and can explore somebody's personality easily. If you just use one or two dark colours this would be dull and wouldn’t grab somebody's attention when they are looking at digi paks on the shelf's in a store. From these results it has assured me that I defiantly need to use an array of different bright colours to meet my target audiences needs.

QUESTION THREEQUESTION THREE

In this question most people responded and said that the name of the artist is most necessary for the advertisement poster. This is very necessary because some people may not recognise the image of the artist shown on the poster and also there might not even be an image shown so nobody would have any idea of whom the album/single is by. 75% said the name of the artist and the only other answered response was the release date with 25%. I am defiantly going to include this on my poster because it is essential to inform the audience when the artists song/album is going to be released. This is also one of the main purposes of a music poster advertisement because its to inform, as well as entertaining the audience.

QUESTION FOURQUESTION FOURThere were a few mixed responses to this question. 25% of people said that they think that the poster would be best advertised in magazines and also another 25% said that it would be best advertised on social media. Magazines are still very popular in todays world, although there has been a significant rise with more people accessing information on the internet, but you still find people reading fashion magazines and music magazines where music poster advertisements will be shown. In my opinion I thought that more people would've said that social media is the best way to advertise a poster because of the vast amount of people using social media sites in this century today. Millions and millions of teenagers use sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram where they can easily find and access information about music artists and their upcoming news and events. However, most people said that TV adverts would be the best place for a poster to be advertised with a percentage of 50. So many people watch TV on a daily basis and they would notice a huge array of music advertisements being shown in between adverts especially after school and in the evening where the music companies are more likely to air their advert. This is because statistics show that more people view TV in the evening rather than during the day. So by doing this the artist would become more successful as her album/single would be known and would be aware of by more people.

QUESTION FIVE QUESTION FIVE For this question the least amount of people said a long shot would be best for the poster with only 12.5%. This is probably because you will not have a clear view of the artist as they would be quite far away in the shot and some people may not be able to recognise what or who the poster is showing. 25% of people said that a close up shot would be best for the poster. A close up shot would allow the audience to get a very clear image of who the artist is so they will be distinguishable to the audience. However, a close up shot may not explain a lot about that artist in relation to what their album is about which is sometimes evident with the location, costume, make up and colours used in the image. This could possibly create confusion for the audience and may lead them to not buying the album at all. 62% said that a medium close up shot would be best for the poster. I agree with this because this shot would allow the audience to have a apparent understanding of who the artist is and it will also include their personality and the possible connotations of what the album is trying to portray.

QUESTION SIX QUESTION SIX The results show from this question that nobody wanted to see a personal message from the artist. This may be because they don’t really care or that they are not true fans of most artists so wouldn’t really need to hear what they have to say and that they would just prefer to listen to the songs on the album.12.5% answered that they would like to see the lyrics to the song inside of the digi pak. This might be for a particular audience who enjoy singing a long with their friends while the song is playing or even that some people may be unsure about a particular lyric in the song and would want to look it up by referring to the digi pak. Another 12.5% said they would like information about the artist. Information about an artist would inform the audience on information about that artist and the album which would be intriguing for them as its something they may interested in. Most of the people who answered this question said that they would like to see images inside of the digi pak. I agree and expected this to be the most popular answer due to the fact that images are more entertaining and fun to look at rather than reading something with a lot of words which can overall make the digi pak look boring and can put people of looking inside in the first place. The images could be of the artist taken from shots in their music video or usually the images show the overall outlook of which the album is portraying for example the album and songs message to the audience.

QUESTION SEVENQUESTION SEVEN

In this question nobody said that they thought that the colours yellow, white and purple would work best for the poster and digi pak used for the genre Pop. However, 25% said the colour red, this could be because the common connotation's of a pop song is based around love, relationships and girls and the colour red is a popular and the most common colour used for these connotations. 37% said that blue would be the best colour which I am surprised about because I don’t usually see digi paks and posters of pop stars using the colour blue. This colour doesn’t usually connote Pop either. However, I didn’t state the exact shade of blue so if I were to use this colour I would use a lighter shade of blue to make it more feminine like targeting my intended audience of young teenage girls. Another 37% said that pink would be the best colour and I was defiantly not surprised at this response due to the fact this this a popular colour amongst young teenage girls so they would be attracted to the poster and digipak.

QUESTION EIGHT QUESTION EIGHT For this question most people said they use the social media site Facebook with 50%. 37.5% said that they use Twitter and 12.5% answered and said that they use Instagram. I believe that using social media sites to advertise my ancillary tasks is important and relevant because it’s the best way to reach my target audiences. This is due to the fact that there is a huge increase in young teenagers using these social media sites so they will be able to see the poster advertisements and will also be informed through word of mouth. From the responses nobody said that they use Snapchat this is probably because it is the most recent form of social networking and some people may not like the concept of this media platform because its sending images to others which can be quite risky.

QUESTION NINEQUESTION NINEI believe that this question is important to receive feedback from because its useful to know what my audience wants for the artists appearance. It is clear from the responses that nobody wants the pop artist to be sad or have no facial expression at all which tells me that they feel that the artist should be positive and have a happy life with no negativity coming across in their album/single. 25% said that they would expect to see the artist have a serious face this could be because it could show that the artist wants to take their album seriously and that its important to them. 37.5% said that they think that they should have a seductive expression, this is useful and interesting to know. Some pop artists such as Miley Cyrus has a seductive expression in most of her music products because that is what her star image entails. However, I do not want my artist to have a seductive expression as I do not want to attract the wrong target audience. My audience are young female girls, whereas boys could be drawn into the artist if she had a ‘seductive’ look which could overall change the whole outlook and her star image. Another 37.5% said they would expect to see a pop artist have a smiley and happy facial expression. I think that this would be best for my ancillary tasks because the majority of pop stars digi paks and posters portray connotations of happiness and enjoyment. I am going to use a positive happy expression for my artist because in the music video she is overall happy that she is no longer with her boyfriend. By doing this I feel like I am meeting the conventions of my chosen genre pop.

QUESTION TEN QUESTION TEN

It is important to consider what I should do for the spine on my digi pak. Although this is probably the least important and people wouldn’t really notice or care about the spine its crucial that it is consistent with the rest of the digi pak. From the results nobody said that stripes would be best. But 25% said that spots would be the best and another 25% said one plain colour. Having one plain colour could be okay because its simplistic, where if a lot of colours were used it could be too over the top and create confusion of the idea of the digi pak. Most people said that swirls would be best for the spine with a percentage of 50. I believe that most people chose this because its quite feminine and unique and would stand out against other digi paks because existing digipaks are usually just one plain colour which can sometimes come across as boring and dull.
