Letter from Bro. David Basumatary

Dear friends,

It’s such a joy writing to you after a long time. The new year has brought lots of changes and new challenges for me. My admission to Wheaton College, Chicago has been con-firmed for fall 2012. But with the acceptance comes the challenge of raising a huge amount of money to support my studies. I just got the news that I am not selected for the Billy Graham Scholarship and so now it’s getting harder for me. I am not sure whether I can go for studies this year. If I cannot go for studies I will continue to serve YWAM Thai-land. I am still a part-time English teacher at Khonkaen Christian School. This term my workload is made heavier by my prerequisite course preparation for Wheaton College. I have to study for at least 6 hours every day if I am to finish my 6 papers (18 credits) requirement on time for class registration. Another change is that I have moved from YWAM Kalasin to YWAM Khonkaen as a campus staff. We have a bilingual (Korean and Thai) UDTS which is going on now. As we come to the close of this term it’s time to get ready to listen to what God has for us.

Recent Activities-Last Christmas I could visit my family mem-bers. I had a good time with them. However, I could not meet my youngest brother as he could not get enough leave from his job to come home. I could also many of my friends and other near and dear ones. I had a nice time visiting Bhutan too. We enjoyed delicious Bhutanese food and went around the nearby town of Gelephu.

Ministry-My work with YWAM Khonkaen is little light now as we are on semester break. We are taking this break as an opportunity to serve other ministries. At the moment Campus staff is helping an orphan-age called Baan Chan. Besides this, there are plans for seminars

and outreach pro-grams. I am still helping Mittraphap Khonkaen Church as the Bible Teacher. Till now our church has been able to reach 3 villages with the gospel. Many have accepted Christ in these villages. We are in need of a person who can regularly visit these villages and teach the people about God by giving Bible studies. My school will reopen somewhere in May and till then I am free of my school responsibilities

Prayer Request- 1) Please pray for my financial needs for further studies. I need about 2500-3000 US dollars per month. I am praying for people to support me for 2 years monthly by whatever they can give $ 50, $100, $200, $300. 2) I need God to show me the next step if I am not going for studies this year. I plan to either move to Bangkok or continue to serve here in Khonkaen. I need God to show me clearly. 3) Pray for the Bilingual UDTS at YWAM Khonkaen 4) Pray that God will continue to grow me to bless people in Thailand.

Thank you and bless you all.

MANIPUR BASE

ESL MINISTRYESL(English as a Second Language School)’s priority aim is to train missionaries who are weak in speaking and understanding English. But by this own purpose cannot maintain the school, which brought us to open our school to non-missionaries. And this includes to even non-believers.

Actually, this role was for my wife, Ruth, not me. But as she got pregnant on the way of prepar-ing for her to be a leader, I had to take the role to lead the ESL.

But for me, I did not had any vision for English teaching, and in fact was a person who could not speak English very well which brought me to have stress in life. But God slowly taught me to understand my wrong thoughts and tidy up our family through a lot of situations.

I could see that the ESL school did not run by me, but God. I witnessed that I did not evange-lize the non-believers but God did so, and I could overcome many problems not through my strength but through the prayers I do.

I learned that ministry leader should kneel down more than how hard work we do for the minis-

me more mature in Him.

Hi to all, greetings from Manipur, Imphal base.

Letter from Bro. Athan

Dear in Christ,

Greetings in God the Father!

I would like to share my heart with you what God has been stirring within me and leading me since 2006, to see an ongoing DTS in Punjab. Ever since I’ve been praying for a

few locations to see someone starting a training school under Youth With A Mission (YWAM).And, last year 2011, September – November as I was taking a break, praying for my next step God was leading me to take a step of faith to start a ministry in Punjab. As I shared to my leaders being accountable

Page 7: YWAM King's Way Base 2012 Spring

KING’S WAY NEWSLETTER PAGE 7 2012 SPRING EDITION

for what is going on in my heart they were more willing and happy to release me from the King’s way Base Delhi where I’m serving presently, and willing to stand with me. Therefore, with the concerns and support of my leaders, in December last year I decided to respond to HIS calling to start a DTS/YWAM Base in Ludhiana which is in the centre, the heart of Punjab. As of now we are 5(five) of us ready to go and few more are still praying to join with us.

Moreover, it is also part of my leader‘s vision to see ministry multiplied and bases pioneered.

Why Ludhiana?• It is the centre of Punjab, therefore, it’s a key place to reach out the whole districts of Punjab.• Though the Official Capital of Punjab is Chan-digarh, the Business Capital of Punjab is Ludhi-ana.• Ludhiana is now Punjab's most populated and very rapidly growing metropolitan city. (fastest growing city in India)• Violence between Sikhs and Hindus has crippled the city's economic and social develop-ment.• Christian percentage is very low in Ludhiana. There are only 30 churches. Whereas, 39 Mas-jids, 365 Gurudwaras, and 504 temples.

Purpose:• To bring the Good News, to reach out every districts of Punjab through evangelism.• To provide a Training and Mercy Ministry.• To raise up a local leaders to carry on the service of God.• To see YWAM Base in every districts of Punjab (out of 22 districts only 3 districts has a YWAM Base. Ludhiana will be the 4th district).

How:• By starting the Discipleship Training School in bilingual (English & Hindi) where young/old/every people can come and be equip for their further services.• By visiting the slums and needy people/places where we can offer helps through mercy ministry.• By building relationship and by organizing fellowships through which we can provide the Love/Word of God.

• By raising prayer warriors and worshippers through worshiping and praying together.

I have been communicating with the YWAM North India Area Leadership Team and with their permission I now am communicating and sharing my vision to you.

We are preparing to start a YWAM Base in Ludhiana from July this year 2012 and run the (DTS) Discipleship Training School by August.

In the preparation we are taking a Delhi DTS outreach team to Ludhiana and to visit few YWAM Bases in Punjab in the month of April 16th till 8th of June. Please stand with us for His Kingdom to come.Your contribution on prayer and your suggestion/correction will be a great blessing to start God’s vision..... let us together extend the Kingdom of God.

If anyone is having a heart for Punjab to support in prayers or to join as staff or in any other form your partnering will be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

AthanLudhiana pioneering team leader
