Continued from Page 1 “I appreciate the way things have been going. It seems like everybody’s been working together,” said Judge Executive Donnie Watson. County Attorney Jason Riley said there were 180 cases on the docket for district court on Wednesday, but court was through by 5 p.m. He added that all police officers were out of court by noon, which allowed them to get back out on the street. A jail worker also said that hearings of all inmates were over with by noon, which allowed the inmates to be transferred back to Three Forks Jail. Watson announced regu- lar meetings will be at 5 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Because the third Mon- day of February is a legal holiday, President’s Day, the fiscal court meeting will be held on another day. It will then be referred to as a spe- cial meeting. Continued from Page 1 Edwards added the show is not scripted. The actors ad-lib their lines with facts about things that could happen, including getting caught by the law. Edwards said he, Benton, and Coomer were asked last year to appear in “Moon- shiners.” This will be the first season for all three. Benton and Coomer are appearing in about the first five shows. Edwards will start in either the eighth or ninth show and go to the end of the season. Edwards said he is blessed, not because of his role on “Moonshiners,” but of all the events he has overcome in his life. He had a flare up of diabetes, but has it under control. He had spinal meningitis. Twice, he was cut out of car wrecks and walked away. The docudrama is produced by Magella Entertainment. It dramatizes the making of moonshine among the people of Appalachia, including Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennesee, and Virginia. Wikipedia says that no actual liquor is be- ing produced by people on the show. Two weeks ago, an introductory party to this year’s “Moonshiners” was held at LaCabana on Main Street. Edwards said he did appear in the introductory trailer. Another viewing of the “Moonshiners” will be January 30 at 8 p.m., also at LaCa- bana. Everyone is invited to attend. Cast member of “Moonshiners” now calls Estill County his home Jeff Edwards, “The Brandy Man,” and his fiance, Geneva Jones, “The Moonshine Pin-up,” pose for a photo together. Edwards moved to Estill County be- cause this area reminded him of where he grew up. He was asked to join the “Moonshiners” cast this season, and will start appearing on TV around April. Continued from Page 1 Gross stated that city employees had been working hard to make sure that all garbage was picked up in a timely manner and that they were making several trips a day to the landfill using a truck and a trailer. He added that Advanced Disposal had come into the city one day last week and emptied the 36 dumpsters throughout the city. The purchase of a new police cruiser was discussed, and the council agreed to go ahead and order the cruiser so it would arrive sometime in April. Police Chief Brad Smith said that the city receives approximately $70,000 per year in fees from the sale of alcohol. He said part of that money is set aside for his salary and $14,000 was approved by the council last year to give officers in the department a raise. The new cruiser will be purchased from Freedom Dodge in the amount of $25,600. Smith said the oldest car they have in their fleet is a 2006 but it still has a lot of life left in it. He said the newest cruisers pur- chased by the department are 2015, 2016, and 2018 models. All council members were in favor of the purchase. The council adjourned the meeting to go into closed session to discuss personnel issues. Irvine Council votes to buy new police car
