Page 16, The Estill County Tribune, November 11, 2015 I want to give thanks to God for the columns He has been giving me. God is so good and He speaks to us daily. We just need to take time to lis- ten! I have been hunting a nice buck I call California the past few weeks. I have seen this buck multiple times. He has outsmarted me every time I have been after him. I thought for sure I had finally figured him out. I moved a stand to the perfect tree. All I needed was the perfect wind and he would be on the wall. The perfect wind finally came and I had the green light from my wife to hunt! Love You Sweetheart!! I had no doubt he would be a dead buck just before dark. I got settled in for a couple hour wait. It was just a few minutes before dark. I was ready for California to step out. An ee- rie fog rolled in. I was still waiting with light fading fast. I waited and waited a few more minutes. It was com- pletely dark and very foggy in the creek bottom. Califor- nia never showed up. I didn’t even see a deer. So I climbed down out of my stand into a dark foggy field with a good little hike ahead of me to the truck. I realized my flashlight was in the truck. I am pretty sure that I heard a baby Bigfoot crying on the hill as I walked out. No light, dark foggy field and some crazy noises coming from the hill to my left. As I was walking out I thought about Psalms 23. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup run- neth over. 6 Surely goodness and mer- cy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever So I made it across the creek and was headed across an- other big field. My truck was parked on a hill overlooking the big field I was in. I was still a ways from my truck. I thought to myself, I wonder if my key remote will work that far away. I hit the button and the headlights popped on. They lit up the field and made the walk easy. I just followed the lights that would lead me home. John 8:12 come to mind when I hit the key re- mote. John 8:12, When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in dark- ness, but will have the light of life.” The Light will lead you home. The Light will calm your fears. The Light will al- ways be with you. You never have to walk in darkness if you know the Light. I highly recommend you get the Light in your life. Good Luck to all that is gun hunting this weekend. Be safe and take a few minutes to lis- ten to God speak while hunt- ing. Until next week, get out and enjoy God’s creation! Wanderings from the Woods & Water by Jay Bicknell WetStoneKennels@Yahoo. Estill’s highly touted running game was held in check by the Bobcats. The ‘Neers came into the game averaging a whopping 392 yds per game rushing but were held to about half that total. Top rushers, Kordel Day and Dawson Bingham were both held to around 60 yards below their average. Estill’s season would end with a modest 6 win, 5 loss record. A few games that slipped away from Estill would give them a 3 seed in the district and would result in the matchup with Bell County. These young men have no reason to hang their head, they have had a great season. From a freshman season that was winless to a 15-8 record over the last two years is testament to the hard work and dedication that the coaches and players have put in. Once again, Congrats on a great season and good luck in 2016. Offensive Stats: K. Day 13 rushes 52 yards (Season: 1421 yds 15 TD), D.
