Gathering Jam The 127s featuring Danielle Blanchard
Call to Worship Author: Judy Chicago Dancers: Tara Lafferty, Carson Lafferty
Song People Get Ready, by Curtis Mayfield
*Affirmation of God’s Call author unknown, sometimes attributed to Mother Teresa of Calcutta
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered; love them anyway.If we’re kind, people may accuse us of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway.If we’re successful, we will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway.If we’re honest and sincere, people may cheat us; be honest and sincere anyway.What we spend years building, others could destroy overnight; build anyway.If we find serenity and joy, others may be jealous, be joyful anyway.The good we do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway.If we give the world the best we have, it may never be enough; give our best anyway.For in the final analysis, it’s all between us and God;
it was never only between us and them, anyway.
*Song (see back page) In God We Grow, by Caleb Williams
WE PROCLAIM
Scripture Reading (unison) Luke 22:24-27 (CEV)The apostles got into an argument about which one of them was the greatest. So Jesus told them: Foreign kings order their people around, and powerful rulers call themselves everyone’s friends. But don’t be like them. The most important one of you should be like the least important, and your leader should be like a servant. Who do people think is the greatest, a person who is served or one who serves? Isn’t it the one who is served? But I have been with you as a servant.
Sermon Grow Strong Rev. Nohemi Ramirez
