Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth. Leader: In this second week of Advent we open our hearts to God’s love as we prepare to welcome Christ into our lives and homes. The can-dles of this wreath re-mind us that Jesus Christ came to conquer the darkness of sin and to lead us into the light of His glorious king-dom. All: Lord God, your Church joyfully awaits the coming of its Sav-ior, who enlightens our hearts and dispels the darkness of ignorance and sin. Pour forth Your blessings upon us as we light this second candle of this wreath. May the light of these candles reflect the splendor of Christ who in being the light of the world, illumi-nates all darkness; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. R/Amen (After the prayer, a family member lights the 2nd purple candle. Family members can take turns lighting and blowing out the candles on each night. The second candle is lighted). Leader: O Lord, stir up our hearts that we may pre-pare for Your only begotten Son, that through His coming we may be made worthy to serve you with pure souls. Líder: Nuestro auxilio es el nombre del Señor . Todos: Que hizo el cielo y la tierra. Líder: En la segunda semana de adviento, abri-mos nuestros corazones al amor de Dios, mien-
tras nos prepara-mos para aceptar a Cristo en nues-tras vidas y en nuestros hoga-res. Las velas de esta corona nos recuerdan que Jesucristo vino a liberarnos de las tinieblas del pe-cado y llevarnos a la luz de su glo-rioso reino. Todos: Señor Dios, Tu iglesia espera confiada-mente la venida del salvador, que viene a iluminar-nos los corazo-nes y a disipar la
oscuridad de la ignorancia y del pecado. Derra-ma tus bendiciones sobre nosotros mientras en-cendemos la segunda vela de esta corona. Que la luz de estas velas refleje el resplandor de Cris-to que, por ser la luz del mundo, iluminará todas las oscuridades. El que vive y reina por los siglos de los siglos. R/Amén. (Después de la oración, un miembro de la familia enciende la segunda vela morada. Miembros de la familia también pueden turnarse para prender y apagar las velas cada noche. On Thursday, December 10th at 7:00 PM, we have our Advent Penance Service, all stu-dents and families of Faith Formation, are cordially invited to participate in this celebra-tion. Let’s remember that Advent is a time of expectation, penance and we must prepare to greet our Savior.
Voici le commencement d'un récit fascinant qui a probablement servi de base à saint Luc et à saint Matthieu. C'est un petit livre qui a influencé profondément l'humanité et sur lequel nous allons réfléchir ensemble au cours du cycle de l'année B. Saint Marc précise bien qu'il s'agit d'un commencement. Son histoire est loin d'être achevée. Il lui donne pour titre: EV ANGUÉLION, ce qui veut dire la Bonne Nouvelle que Jésus de Nazareth est vraiment le Messie annoncé par les prophètes, le Fils de Dieu ressuscité et exalté, dont les disciples préparent le retour à la fin des temps, et depuis une semaine, la venue plus
actuelle et toute proche à Noël. Avec Jean Baptiste, le secret de l'identité de Jésus est déjà levé: il n'est pas le libérateur politique que beaucoup espéraient mais celui qui “baptisera dans l'Esprit Saint.” Le verbe “baptiser” signifie “immerger”; et comme Jean Baptiste immergeait dans l'eau, la source de vie dans la vallée du Jourdain, ainsi Jésus immergera ceux et celles qui l'accueillent dans l'Esprit Saint, la source intarissable de la vie de Dieu. Toute personne qui accepte son projet a déjà accès à cette source qui jaillit en vie éternelle. La seule condition de l'immersion annoncée par Jean Baptiste est la foi liée au désir de se transformer soi-même et le monde, de manière à instaurer le Règne de Dieu. C'est le sens de la conversion, proclamée par Jean. Car le récit, rappelons-le, ne fait que commencer; Jésus qui vient à Noël sera le Serviteur de Dieu rejeté, brisé et humilié, qui lui ramènera l'ensemble des nations. Une telle perspective oriente déjà les disciples vers le coeur et l'aboutissement de tout le récit: Jésus est celui qui vient donner sa vie afin que tous vivent grâce à lui pour toujours.
