Dear Friends, On this Thanksgiving weekend I pray that we may continue to acknowledge God's blessings in our lives. Being grateful with the realization that all we are and possess is a gift from God, grateful hearts are known every day! Next weekend, the First Sunday of Advent, will begin our new liturgical year. Our sacred texts over these four weekends of Advent are full of rich symbolism. There is much to reflect upon and think about in preparation for our Christmas. I encourage everyone to look ahead at these beautiful readings. (Copies are available on the Information Table in Church & in the Chapel on top of the bookcase). Come to Mass building upon your prayerful thoughts and the prayers, music and reflections of our liturgies will bless your Advent journey. The Little Blue Books are available again for your daily reflections and prayers. While they last, they will be in the Narthex. If you visit someone who is unable to join us, please share one of these books with them. As Advent begins, there are many opportunities for us here at Saint Catherine of Siena. December 1st and 2nd our Annual Fair Trade Sale will take place in the Parish Center. You will have the opportunity to purchase gifts that are all created/made with fairness and justice. It's a perfect time to choose gifts that not only bless the recipient but also blesses the hands of those who made the item. Come by before or after the Masses and see what will capture your eyes! On Monday evenings we will have time for Advent reflections. Sister Barbara Moore will be here on December 3 rd and 10th. On December 3rd she will address the "Incarnation". On the 10th she will address “Joy and Humor”. We will gather in the Chapel at 7 PM for both presentations. On December 17th our Parish Music Ministry will offer an evening of sacred song and music. We will gather in the church at 7 PM. On December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we will offer our Holy Day Mass at 9 AM. We hope you will join us for this holy day of obligation. This is our Patronal Feast Day of the United States of America. Following Mass, you are invited to participate in our "Day in Bethlehem". See the bulletin for further details. Also, Advent is a beautiful time for personal prayer and celebration of reconciliation. Please know I am available to meet you anytime to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Contact me and we will arrange a time to meet. You may also celebrate the sacrament on Saturdays between 4 4:30 PM. I will be in the Chapel Reconciliation Room. These four weeks of Advent are quick. I hope we can all take time to enjoy the season and participate in one or more of these offerings to make our Advent prayerful. This year’s theme for our Advent is "WHAT SHOULD WE DO?" Luke 3: 10 18. As I have written there are some good ways mentioned above to begin and address this question. With faith and hope, Father Rob Saint Catherine of Siena Parish November 25, 2018 Welcome, We’ve been waiting for you!

Advent Day of Reflection Advent can sometimes get lost in the pace, as well as all the expectations, of the season. It is a busy time and our heads are filled with details and desires of what we want to accomplish. So, taking a day apart is probably a hard decision to make.! This day will provide space, quiet and inspiration to help you engage with what is going on in your own heart so that you may be able to really enter this time of hope and expectation.!!!
