Principal’s Report

As you are reading this newsletter, Stage 2/3

students, Mrs Evans and I will be well and truly

into the second day of our major excursion to

Lake Mungo. Full details of our adventures will

appear in next week’s newsletter.

An optional play afternoon for our 2012

Kindergarten students was held last Friday

afternoon and is being offered again this Friday.

Those who attended last week enjoyed the

activities provided and we look forward to

welcoming everyone back again this week.

Many happy returns are extended to community

stalwart and long time supporter of our school,

Nancy Doherty, who celebrated her 80th

birthday with family and friends last Sunday.

We hope you had a great day, Nance, and trust

you enjoy many more to come.

It is with more than a tinge of sadness that we

farewell Miss Fox this Friday afternoon. It

doesn’t seem like five weeks since we

welcomed Kathryn to our school, but it is, and

in that time she has developed a wonderful

rapport with students and staff alike. Kathryn

has impressed with her ability in the classroom

and in the playground and she has undoubtedly

benefitted greatly from the tutelage she has

received from her classroom mentor, Miss

McKelvie. We commend Kathryn on her efforts

in the time she has spent with us and wish her

all the very best in her future teaching career.

Please pass on our sincere thanks to husband,

Scott, for the delicious morning teas he sent

along whilst you were here!

Our new photocopier and printer arrived right in

the middle of doing the newsletter last week so

we apologise for the black and white, photoless

edition that was sent home. There are still a

couple of minor connections to be made and

these should be carried out early this week;

then it will be all systems go.

Next Tuesday, Mrs Evans and our Year 6 ladies

are heading to Griffith to give a presentation at

the final Enviro Champs Day for this year. The

girls have done a great job in leading this

project at our school over the past three terms

and, along with Mrs Evans, are to be

congratulated on their efforts. Michelle Hatty

has completed our gardening aprons, complete

with logo on the front, so when students are

working in the garden, these can be worn to

protect school uniforms. Many thanks, Michelle.

Have a great week.

Regards,

Ian Lucas

Headlice

A reminder to all to ensure the effectiveness of

our “Hit Nitz 4 6” headlice eradication

programme, it is incumbent on all families to be

vigilant in checking their children’s hair daily

and taking appropriate measures to deter

infestations in the future – not just over the

next couple of weeks, but from now on. The

school has stocks of the spray we have been

using at a cost of $15 each. Alternative sprays

with a tea tree oil base are also supposed to be

effective.

2013 Selective Schools Applications

Application forms for students wishing to be

considered for placement in Year 7 at a

selective public high school in N.S.W. in 2013

were sent home with Year 5 students last week.

Instructions on how to apply online were

included. A reminder that these applications are

to be submitted by next Monday, 21st

November, and the tear off section at the

bottom of the note sent home last week is to be

returned to the school. If you have any

questions or queries related to this application,

please contact the school.

Stage One Class Party

I will be holding a Stage One class party on

Thursday, 17th November to thank them for

having me as their teacher. Natural lollies will

be given to the children. I would like permission

for your child to attend the party and be given

the sweets. Please contact the school if you

do not wish your child to participate in this

activity. Thank you.

Miss Fox

School Swimming

Our annual, ten day, intensive swimming

programme is to take place again this year,

from Monday, 28th November till Friday, 9th

December. All students are included in this

programme, with four instructors on hand to

teach the graded groups. The sessions will take

place at Ganmain Swimming Pool from 12 noon

till 1 p.m. each day. We will be travelling by bus

to and from the pool each day. Travel costs per

student for the ten days is $35.00. Pool entry

for the ten days is $20.00 or free for those who

have a season pass. Please complete the

permission note at the end of today’s

newsletter and return it, with appropriate

money, by Friday, 18th November.

Lunch Orders

Many thanks to the Lenord family who

generously offered to deliver the lunches every

Friday until other offers were received. Thanks

to Michelle Rudder who has also offered to

assist. This means that orders will continue to

be taken every Thursday.

Mobile Library

The mobile library visits us next Wednesday.

Please ensure that all borrowed resources have

been returned to the appropriate box in the

hallway.

MOvember

MOvember is now well under way, with quite a

few scruffy, upper lips evident around the

district. Our team numbers continue to grow

(no pun intended!)

Thanks to those who have already sponsored

our team – your support is greatly appreciated.

If you would like to sponsor the 2011 “MOtong”

team, please contact the school for further

details.

Thankyou

A HUGE THANK YOU to Michelle Hatty who has

very generously made home reader bags for

our 2012 Kindergarten class.

This week’s trivia question

Why is a blue singlet sometimes referred to as

a “Jackie Howe”?

Answer to last week’s trivia question

The highest quality olive oil is extra virgin,

which is fresh and contains no other chemicals.

Then comes virgin, pure and light.
