FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Welcome to the Week 1 Newsletter!

Term 4!

Well it has been a rollercoaster ride this last month, but it is good to be back at school! And it’s turning into an extremely busy term!

2021 School Yearbook

It’s that time again!

The teachers are currently putting this year’s Yearbook together for families.

The Yearbook will be compiled, printed and bound, ready to give out at our 2021 Presentation & Awards Night on Monday 13th December.

Cover Design Competition

Encourage your children to enter the Cover Design Competion for this year’s Yearbook. We can’t wait to see the entries!

Term 4 2021 Week 1

Bandanna Day

Bandannas are on sale now from the school office for $5 each.

Bandanna Day is on Friday 22nd August and all students who buy a bandanna are encouraged to wear it on that day!

Buy a bandanna and support children who are dealing with the impact of cancer.

Hats at School

Each year hats are compulsory during Term 1 and Term 4 due to the often extreme heat we can experience here in Cowra. Holmwood Public School has a red bucket hat as part of the school uniform. This is the ONLY hat that will be acceptable, apart from the black bucket hat that is awarded when students go to District Sports Carnivals. NO other hats are acceptable at school.

School hats are $15 and can be purchased from the school office.

From week 2, children without a school hat will be required to stay under the cola during playtime.

2021 Schools Spectacular

Sadly the 2021 Schools Spectacular has been

cancelled due to ongoing COVID restrictions.

We are very sad about this, especially for our

Year 6 students. Hopefully students can take

part next year, either in High school or

through Holmwood.

Only school hats are allowed to be worn during Term 1 and Term 4 please.

Swim Scheme

Due to COVID restrictions, swim scheme has been cancelled. Hopefully we can run swim scheme in Term 1 2022.

Raising Healthy Minds App

Parents can now access the Raising Healthy Minds site via a new app.

This new resource complements the ‘Raising Healthy Children’ website which has some incredible resources and information for families and to support parents as they navigate the difficult role of parenting.

Leadership Camp Term 4

In term 4, students from Years 5 & 6 will be invited to

attend a 2 day (1 night) camp to the Blue Mountains.

The Leadership Camp has been tentatively booked for

Tuesday Dec 14th and Wednesday Dec 15th at

Katoomba Convention Centre (same as last year).

HPS is hoping that by that time we will be back to ‘COVID

normal’ and be able to attend the camp, however we

will update the parent community as soon as we have

confirmation.

Small Schools Creative Arts Performance Thursday 25th November

Yet another event cancelled.

We were really looking forward to this event but sadly

the Level 3 COVID restrictions we are under do not allow

us to sing/chant/have assemblies or interact with other

schools.

The school will try again next year and keep the Jungle

theme.
