Were so pleased to be able to welcome parents back on site. All parents, after using the QR code, can come on site to drop off or collect children. This will give families a chance to see our ter- rific new outdoor learning areas and feel welcome once again at school! Of course it will still be important to continue to adhere to COVID- safe practices, such as physical distancing between adults of 1.5 metres. Families will be welcome to attend our Friday morning assemblies at 9.10am in the amphitheatre as we are keeping these under half an hour. If parents are coming on site for a longer period, such as for a pre -arranged appointment, you will need to sign the visitors book, as well as check in with the QR code. Parents and carers can attend school sporting events. Schools should continue to complete COVID-safe plans for school events where more than 50 adults are gathering. We have been reminded of the importance of remaining vigilant in implementing all COVID-safe practices. We have been advised that some level of restrictions will remain in place for some time and to be prepared to move to learning from home at short notice, if required. Responding to community trauma The events in the Dunoon area on Saturday evening were obviously very concerning. As most of our children were aware of the incident, we spoke simply and calmly to those classes, reinforcing these messages: This was a very unusual event. The police responded very quickly, using their training to make sure that everyone was safe. It is really important to watch what we say, do and view in front of younger children. Somemes this type of event can sr up emoons (fear, sadness, helplessness, anxiety, anger) and it s important to turn to trusted adults for help. Our school counsellor, Jenny Strong, spent yesterday at our school and children had the opportunity to speak with her. If you would like to discuss this further, please get in touch. Thank you

Welcome back in to school! We’re so pleased to be able to welcome parents back on site. All parents, after using the QR code, can come on site to drop off or collect children. This will give families a chance to see our ter-rific new outdoor learning areas and feel welcome once again at school! Of course it will still be important to continue to adhere to COVID-safe practices, such as physical distancing between adults of 1.5 metres. Families will be welcome to attend our Friday morning assemblies at 9.10am in the amphitheatre as we are keeping these under half an hour. If parents are coming on site for a longer period, such as for a pre-arranged appointment, you will need to sign the visitors book, as well as check in with the QR code.

Responding to community trauma

The events in the Dunoon area on Saturday evening were obviously very concerning. As most of our children

were aware of the incident, we spoke simply and calmly to those classes, reinforcing these messages:

This was a very unusual event. The police responded very quickly, using their training to make sure that

everyone was safe.

It is really important to watch what we say, do and view in front of younger children.

Sometimes this type of event can stir up emotions (fear, sadness, helplessness, anxiety, anger) and it’s

important to turn to trusted adults for help.

Our school counsellor, Jenny Strong, spent yesterday at our school and children had the opportunity to speak

with her. If you would like to discuss this further, please get in touch. Thank you

Batter Up!

It was great to have Brad from FNC Baseball

come to coach the students last week. Each

class learnt about hitting, throwing and catch-

ing and Brad was very impressed with the

skills across the school. The teachers’ reign in

the Staff v Student T-ball match could be

under threat this year...

3/4 News

Our 3/4 class has hit the ground running this term and we are super excited to share with you!

We have settled on a name for our class mascot. May we introduce to you ‘Kevinry’. He will be seeing us

through our learning this year and we look forward to it.

We have started our science unit on forces called ‘The force is with you’ and will be creating our very own

arcades based on the unit ‘Caine’s Arcade’. Keep an eye out for updates on our experiments and builds.

For Geography we are exploring Kosciuszko National Park and we have 7 driving questions to guide our

learning.

We have signed up to the ASX School Share Market Game 2021

and will be kicking off soon! Also we have been learning our

racquet skills on the tennis court. Check us out!

Strategic Improvement Plan 2021-2024

All NSW DoE schools are currently preparing the Strategic Improvement Plan to be completed

by the end of this term. The process is significantly different to past Strategic Direction Plans

but we are in a good position, having undergone External Validation last year.

The plan’s first Strategic Direction, ‘Growth and Attainment’ is a system-negotiated target

which explicitly addresses the Premier’s targets of Reading and Numeracy.

Our second Strategic Direction, ‘Innovation and Collaboration’, is our school-determined

target. This will focus on Inquiry Learning and Community Engagement.

Our staff members have been working hard on the development of this plan to ensure that it

follows along smoothly from our school’s current practices and builds on measures that will

directly improve students’ learning outcomes.

Congratulations!
