Principals Report Welcome to Week 9 of Term 2, only six more days for our students before they enjoy a two week break from school. Once again this has been a busy term in and out of the classrooms. You should be very proud of the efforts your child/ren have put into their learning. As a school we are here for all our families and appreciate your support with the constant changes and updates that occur due to Covid 19. It has been fantastic to be able to invite parents into our school for sporting events, parent information evenings and extra curricular activities. Thank you to everyone for using the QR code and or signing in each and every time you enter the school. The Department of Education recognises that there are students who have fallen behind in their learning due to the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic and lock down of 2020. The Department has given support to schools by funding the employment of Covid Tutors. At IPS our Covid Tutors are all currently completing their Education/Teaching degrees through University and are supported by our teaching staff. The areas of focus for IPS are mathematics and reading. Staff are placed into classes each day to listen to students read and support small groups within maths lessons. Parent teacher interviews will be held next Monday and Tuesday from 3.30pm - 6pm and we look forward to catching up with you. If you are unable to attend you are welcome to ask the class teacher to give you a phone call to discuss your child/rens educational progress. If all goes to plan our new playground installation should begin on Monday. It is fantastic to finally have the fencing removed from the Kindergarten brick wall. The students are really enjoying the extra area for handball. Stay warm and have a lovely weekend. Spotlight on KS

KS has had a fantastic Term 2, so far. We enjoyed the Athletics Carnival last week and we all ran as fast as we could. We have

been reading books based on the theme ‘Under the Sea’ in literacy.

We have learned a lot of information about these sea creatures. We have continued to

create artworks based on the letters and sounds we are learning about. In maths we are using our counting skills to move along the number line and add groups together.

We are so excited to learn more in Term 3!

Sport Report Yesterday, IPS open girls beat Bingara 5-2 in a soccer knockout and go on to play Narrabri. Well done girls! Next Monday 21 June, boys and girls touch football teams play in the knockout competition at the complex against Ashford Central School. Our State representatives this week are Kelsie Simpson at State Soccer and Henry Ballinger at State Rugby League. Good luck to them both. The North West Cross Country was held at Coolah last Thursday with Alice Wall and Bella Griffin qualifying for the North West team to compete at the State Carnival at Eastern Creek next term.

Virtual Excursion Year 3 and 4 participated in a virtual excursion yesterday to the Sydney Museum. They explored a historical collection of first contacts looking at Aboriginal artifacts, language and the British colonisation and the impact it has had on Australia. Students played interactive games and undertook in a Q & A forum with Sophie the curator of the museum. This is a great way for country kids to participate in activities usually only available to city students.
