(NAPS)—Aller-gies are noth-ing to sneeze at. Fortunately, your car can pro-tect you from the pollen, dust and pollutants that are drawn inside through air-conditioning and ventilation systems.

The cabin air lters clean the incoming air, removing aller-gens. For your part, you should replace these regularly.

Expert Advice“A dirty or clogged cabin air lter can cause contaminants to become so concentrated in the cabin that passengers actual-ly breathe in more fumes and particles when riding in the car than when walking down the street,” explains Rich White, ex-ecutive director, Car Care Council—the source of information for the “Be Car Care Aware” campaign promoting the bene ts of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair.

A restricted cabin air lter can cause musty odors in the ve-hicle and impair air ow in the heating, ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) system, possibly causing interior heating and cooling problems. Over time, the heater and air condi-tioner may also become damaged by corrosion. In addition to trapping pollen, bacteria, dust and exhaust gases, the cabin air lter prevents leaves, bugs and other debris from entering the HVAC system.

Cabin air lters should not be cleaned and reinstalled. In-stead, they should be replaced every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or per the owner’s manual. Most lters are accessible through an access panel in the HVAC housing, which may be under the hood or in the interior of the car. An automotive service tech-nician can help locate the cabin lter and replace it according to the vehicle’s owner manual. Some lters require basic hand tools to remove and install the replacement lter while others just require your hands.

Free GuideTo learn more about cabin air lters, view the Car Care Coun-cil’s Car Care Minute video or free digital “Car Care Guide” at www.carcare.org. There, you can also order a free printed copy of the guide.

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail). Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary con-ceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Favor granted. M.G.

* Show accomplishments rather than responsibilities. Many hiring managers are experienced enough to know the re-sponsibilities of a certain job title. So instead of listing your responsibilities as a Regional Sales Manager, list what you ac-complished during your time in that position. Be as specifi c as possible, listing any sales goals you exceeded and awards you might have won. Your achievements are what set you apart from other candidates with similar work histories, so use your resume to highlight those achievements instead of listing your responsibilities.

* Keep things brief. Brevity should be your friend when ac-centuating your accomplishments on your resume. Your resume should highlight those accomplishments and that should be enough to secure an interview. When you get that interview, that’s when you can go into greater detail. But try to keep your resume to one or two pages.

* Remove older positions. Older positions, such as a long-ago college internship, have no place on a seasoned profession-al’s resume. On a similar note, if you have long since changed careers, you may not need to include much about your previ-ous positions in another fi eld, especially if your work expe-rience in your new fi eld is extensive. Hiring managers likely won’t be interested in a past work history if it’s irrelevant to your current fi eld.

* Consider a new format. Few job postings request appli-cants to send in their resumes via snail mail, so unlike the days of old, you probably won’t be printing your resume as a Microsoft(R) Word document and mailing it to prospective employers. As a result, you might want to consider a new format when submitting your resume via a company’s Web site. Word documents might be acceptable, but such docu-ments can easily become encoded in the uploading process or won’t be readable if the hiring manager has a diff erent ver-sion of Word than you do. Consider uploading your resume as a PDF or as plain text, as such formats are less likely to be-come scrambled during when they are uploaded or down-loaded.
