Glenda Lacey of Morristown, says “you treat your flowers and garden like your children. You talk, nourish and protect them.” If you take care of them the right way, God will do the rest. Glenda works very hard in her gardens but it is so rewarding to see the finished product. She enjoys giving the flowers away to nursing homes, the sick or elderly, new people in the neighbor-hood and friends. I am all organic, no sprays at all.
Glenda’s Tips on Growing Roses • Roses like epson salt. 1 cup for larger ones, 1/2 cup for smaller ones. Put it around the base of the plant.• Keep them in an open area, full sun is best.• Roses need good drainage.• Cut roses at a slant, on the outside at the first set of 5 leaves.• Cut flowers go into luke warm water. Pull all leaves/thorns off that are submurged under water.

United Way Day Of CaringIt is the sixth year that the Unit-ed Way of Hamblen County has sponsored a “Day of Caring” to commemorate the tragedy the United States suffered on Sep-tember 11, 2001. The purpose is two-fold; to help our agencies with needed repairs and mainte-nance thus allowing local busi-ness and industry to see fi rst hand the operation of an United Way Agency.
This day is set aside to create an awareness of the needs in our community. Individuals and groups volunteer to work with
a variety of projects for a day to make the greatest impact for a particular agency. Much like the mission of the United Way, “working together is the best way to help the most people”. The United Way of Hamblen County has been serving the needs in this community for the past fi fty-two years. It is a local volunteer based organization and truly makes an impact in our community.
Businesses and individuals who wish to participate
can contact the United Way of-fi ce at 581-8601.

MALE BALDING: Are you genetically predisposed to lose your scalp hair? If the loss of your hair is identified early, you may be able to prevent further hair loss. There is now an oral medicine that works by blocking the “bad” testosterone that feeds hair loss. Also, the new Rogaine foam is effective and less messy than the original formula. Inflammation of the scalp from seborrhea and yeast can increase the rate of hair loss and there are now good medications to control these scalp conditions.
FROWNY FACES: Botox is not just for women. Expression lines can make men look angry, worried, or mad even when they are not. Botox relaxes the muscles that create these negative frown lines and can help men to appear more pleasant and happy. An inviting appearance can be a business bonus.
FACIAL VEINS: Men make up a large part of my facial vein removal practice. Many men tell me that they are not heavy drinkers but the pres-ence of noticeable facial and nasal blood vessels can give the wrong im-pression. These veins are easily removed by the Vbeam laser and there is no down time or loss of work.
BODY HAIR: The hairy back look is out. With the GentleLase Plus laser, unwanted hair can be permanently removed. Any body part may be treated and many of our male patients do choose to remove hair from areas other than the back. Treatment costs are workingman friendly.
WRINKLES: Men and women alike get deep wrinkles in their fac-es that can now be lifted and smoothed by restoring facial volume with Radiesse or Sculptra. Juvederm is available to help restore volume of the finer, more shallow facial lines.
PIGMENT PROBLEMS: Living, working, and playing in the great outdoors of East Tennessee, men are likely to develop pigmented “sun” spots. These hyper-pigmentations may be quickly and easily removed with a laser treatment.

“We have been turning folks away in Dandridge,” says Frank Cosentino, the owner of Smoky’s Steak & BBQ. To make their award winning formula available throughout the Lakeway, Frank and executive chef, Fred Roskop, have brought Smoky’s to a new location in Morristown. Located at 3304 West A.J. Highway, Smoky’s is perfectly located next to the Ramada Inn.
Decades of experience in premium restaurants have come together to produce a new standard in Morristown dining. Slowly smoked meats, in-house sauces, and impeccable service, will provide you with a memorable meal.
Smoky’s begins with the fi nest of ingredients. Their meats are from a partnership with Creekstone Farms, a Southern leader in the production of Natural Meats. Smoky’s is a lo-cal restaurant and not a chain, they can honor the individual requests of their diners. “It ain’t out of a big frozen box…. It’s not based on the whims of some far-away corporate cook… It’s made here,…now,…fresh!”
Come sit a spell & taste the difference!
Smoky’s is not a chain…
Meats are slowly smoked over locally cut hickory. Steak lovers are in for a special treat with the signature meal. The “Hickory Smoked Rib-Eye” is a steak that is “over the top” with fl avor… Really,.. if you love steak, you need to taste this! Also, the ribs are cut, smoked, and served as the full-rib. The full-rib is a larger, more fl avorful, meatier cut than the smaller back rib that is used by most chain restaurants.
Smoky’s also serves a wide variety of smoked dishes that include chicken, pork, and fi sh… after all, it’s a BBQ res-taurant!. Unique side dishes include, Sweet Potato Chips and Green Tomato Pie… we won’t describe them, just come in and taste these Southern Classics for yourself. And to top it off, dessert features items such as “Deep Fried Cheesecake.” Oww-wee!!!
Call today for reservations at (423) 587-8000. Or, if you would like to book the banquet rooms or catering services, call Smoky’s at (423) 587-8007. You can visit the website at www.smokyssteakandbbq.com.

Pam Holt has been a pro-vider with the practice since 1996. Pam is married to Hugh Holt and has three children
and three grandchildren. Beginning as a LPN, she advanced her education through the years to be-coming a Women’s Health
Nurse Practitioner in 1990. She states, “Nursing is such a
great career with many different opportunities, but care of women and their needs is what I truly en-joy.” Her areas of special interest are prenatal care, contraception/birth control, premenstrual syn-
drome, menopause, and diabetes.
Stacey Kesterson has been a mem-ber of the Morristown community since 1996. She is married to Paul Kesterson and has two children, Abigail and Me-
gan. Stacey became a nurse in 1993, practicing in labor and delivery. She
advanced her nursing degree to become a Women’s Health
Nurse Practitioner. While advancing her degree,
she practiced at E. Tn. Ob-Gyn PC and knew that the pro-viders practiced the
excellent healthcare in which she wanted to be
associated. “The joy of practicing here is I have the time to sit with patients
and thoroughly discuss their concerns,” states Stacey. She says, “I enjoy provid-
ing holistic care.” Her special interests are sexual health, urodynamics, domestic vio-
lence against women and menopause.

The Nurse Practitioners at E. Tn. Ob-Gyn PC have completed Master’s Degrees in Nursing Science. Three concentrated in Women’s Health and one has a concentration in Family Practice. All four are dedicated to providing excellent healthcare to all of our patients.
Julianne Misenheimer grew up in Morristown. She has two children, Madison and Grant. She has been with this practice for the last ten years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
and her Master’s Degree in Nursing becoming a Women’s Health Nurse
Practitioner. “I con-sider myself so
fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a group of health-
care providers so committed to provid-
ing excellent care for wom-en,” states Julianne. Her special
interest encompasses prenatal care, perimenopause and premenstrual
syndrome. Another of her most recent specialties is aesthetic medicine. She is
a care provider at the New Image Medis-pa associated with E. Tn. Ob-Gyn PC.
Torry Taylor is the newest member of the nurse practitioner team. She is married to Scott Taylor. She has most recently prac-ticed as a labor/delivery/nurs- ery nurse. She has completed her nursing advancement to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Torry hopes to “provide needed special-ized care to patients of the Lakeway area.” She hopes that her background of family practice will allow her to further expand the care of patients com-ing to the practice. Her special interest includes prenatal care, perimenopause and menopause. She also hopes to provide care to the city’s Hispanic culture that has been overlooked in this specialty area.
E. Tn. Ob- Gyn PC has always invested in the future of medical care and its patients.
Nurse Practitioners have been a part of the practice since 1996 when nurse practitioners were beginning to become an avenue of patient care.
Since then the practice has grown to four Nurse Practitio-ners, all providing concentrated care to women and their health care needs.

Jim Pope has been a part of our com-munity since December 2004. Jim relocated his family to Morristown af-ter the retirement of State Farm agent Tommy Harris.
Jim’s father, George Pope, is a retired executive with State Farm and lives in Murfreesboro. George began with State Farm in 1948 in Evansville, IN and held various positions throughout his career.
In the 60’s, George was an agency di-rector, responsible for hiring new agents for the company. One of the agents that he hired was none other than Tommy Harris.
Jim began his agency career in 1988 and was awarded his permanent contract with State Farm in 1990. “It was a very special moment for me as my contract with State Farm was the last one award-ed by my father before he retired,” Jim explained. “I think it was somewhat symbolic of following in my father’s footsteps as I was beginning a new ca-reer just as he was retiring from his.”
After 13 years, Jim took a management position with State Farm and spent the next 3 years in Arkansas. He learned about the Morristown agency opening and jumped at the chance to get back home to Tennessee.
Jim is married to Connie and they have a 15 year old daughter, Devan. Connie is a native of Gallatin, TN. They met in 1982 at Tennessee Technological University and were married in 1985 after graduating. Connie worked for many years as a medical technologist, and then as a life insurance under-writer with State Farm. After the birth of their daughter, she has devoted her time to raising their daughter, helping Jim with the business, and with numer-ous volunteer projects.
Involvement in the community is im-portant to Jim and Connie. They are active at Manley Baptist Church, where Jim plays drums in the orches-tra and Connie is involved in women’s and children’s ministry. Jim also plays in the Walters State Community Jazz Band and has played percussion in two productions of the Morristown Theater Guild. He most recently completed a part as one of the pirates in the Encore Theater Company’s production of Pe-ter Pan.
Their daughter, Devan, is a freshman at Morristown West High School. She shares her father’s love of music. She plays clarinet in the marching band,
and oboe in the concert band. She has qualifi ed for the Upper Area Junior Band Clinic Competition for the past three years. Devan joins her dad on Sunday mornings at Manley Baptist playing in the church orchestra.
“I think it was somewhat symbolic of following in my father’s footsteps as I was beginning a new career just as he was retiring from his.”
Jim earned his CERTIFIED FINAN-CIAL PLANNERTM designation in 2002. As a CFP® professional, Jim’s desire is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams. He is very knowledgeable in market in-vesting, estate planning, life insurance planning as well as property and busi-ness insurance planning.

Chris, Sue, and Lance Nerland are often asked the questions, “Why did you move here to Morristown from South Dakota?” and “Why did you buy an old dilapidated marina and campground?” The answers to these questions have taken the family on a journey spanning four years and 1700 miles.
In 2003, the family sold its property in South Dakota and purchased three mobile home parks in Morristown. They knew the business of mobile home parks and had re-ceived advice that Morristown was one of the fastest growing industrial centers in the Southeast.
By 2005, the mobile home parks were bringing in a steady income and the family was ready to expand its holdings.
Even though the family was from South Dakota and the largest lake they had ever seen was 5 square miles, they came to love Cherokee Lake. A boat and jet ski were purchased and the family was out on the lake almost every weekend. However, there
From A Dream To A Reality...Heron Point Has Arrived!was a problem: there was no safe place to park their motor home temporarily or a safe place to camp with their boats. After a particularly frustrating weekend of loading and unloading the boats the family thought, “Do other people have this problem too?”
It was almost magic when Fall Creek Ma-rina and Campground was placed on the market. It came with a lot of problems but the potential was there. The Nerlands purchased the property in April 2005 and immediately went to work renovating both the marina and campground (now offi cial-ly labeled an RV Park).
It is now 2007 and 26 months since the purchase. The old Fall Creek Marina and Campground is no more. In its place now stands a totally different family-friendly fa-cility aptly named Heron Point Marina and RV Park. The motto is Scenery-Serenity-Security and you notice all three once you pass through the automatic security gate.
No longer just for permanent campers, Heron Point has plenty of room for every-
one to take advantage of the wildlife and beauty of Cherokee Lake. There is ample room to park your boat for a night or a year. There is a protected swimming area and a playground for the children. There is even a Dog Park for four-legged family members. There are tent sites along the shoreline and all RV sites have easy access to the lake. The marina store offers RV supplies as well as emergency marine supplies. The marina is handicap accessible.
This past April the RV Park was accepted into the nationally recognized Trailer Life Directory listing the top campgrounds/RV parks in the nation. From a dream to a real-ity- Heron Point has arrived!

Dad Billy Westmoreland with son Will (6) and daughter Madisson (9) is a fun loving dad who along with wife Leigh Ann, enjoy watching the kids play sports. They are active members of Parkway Baptist church.
Jairus & Mark JohnsBecoming a father is a won-derful experience. Jairus truly is a gift from God, says Mark Johns co-owner of Pulmacare.
Since he has grown, we enjoy doing lots of outside activities. Our favorite is camping! We love being outdoors! Jairus loves rid-ing in the cart behind dad’s bicycle. When at home, we love mowing the yard and riding the 4-wheeler, but riding on papaw’s tractor is always a treat.
When Jairus comes to work with daddy, he likes to ride on the scooters and help daddy do lots of paperwork. He has truly changed my life for the better. He is dad’s buddy and lots of fun to play with.

A Very Happy Father’s day indeed for this Father & Son.
When Mark Brooks, Jr. (then Sergeant in the ARMY Re-serves) left for Iraq, his infant son Mark Brooks III (Trey) was only 4 months old.
This touching photo was snapped the moment Father and Son were reunited at an airport 15 months later.
(Publisher’s note: this is one of the most heartwarming photos I’ve ever seen and I am proud to be Aunt/Great Aunt to these two handsome guys! (and the little monkey below)
Now, the Father to two young sons, Trey and Talon, Mark enjoys playing and horsing around with his boys.
It’s sometimes hard to tell where the boy ends and the Dad begins... this single Dad puts all his energy and time into his boys. They are his life, they are his buddies, they are without a doubt his everything.
When asked what his hopes are for his sons’ futures, Mark says he hopes his sons continue to be close and that they’ll be happy, healthy and caring men who enjoy a good, long life.
