Rob & Amanda Stufflebeam Chapter Directors

Good Day B3! And welcome to February! 2018 is off to a frigid start as we’re all well aware – this snow and cold kind of took Amanda and me off guard. If it keeps up, I’m thinking a snow blower might be in our future – I wonder if I could get a Goldwing edition. Hmmm. January and the start of the year saw a flurry of B3 activity, all of which were extremely well attended by people wearing yellow shirts. Our annual New Year’s Day Breakfast at Frisch’s saw a very good turnout, where good food, fun and fellowship ensued. Our monthly Gathering followed on the 6th, and again saw a good turnout to witness Robert & Pam Vogel sworn in as our new Assistant Chapter Directors, and myself as the incoming Chapter Director. Many of us absconded to IHOP in Grove City afterwards for a great brunch, where again good food, stories and laughter were in abundance. On a personal note, I cannot adequately express the gratitude I feel at your well-wishes, and especially the warm thoughts and prayers for Amanda as she works her way through a difficult recovery from surgery. As I write this, she is home and resting, and hoping for a speedy return to normalcy. The weather forced us to reschedule our Bowling outing from Jan 13 to Jan 20, plus, Pam Vogel took the initiative to contact our intended venue (Holiday Lanes in Columbus) to ask about us coming. It was a good thing she did since she found out they have Saturday Leagues pretty much every weekend, and really don’t have any open lanes until later in the day. So, we moved the outing to AMF Stardust Lanes in Grove City, where we had a great time not long ago. They don’t have any Saturday Leagues right now, and agreed it would be easy to put us all close together. Bowling was an absolute blast – I actually broke 100 for the first time in over a decade bowling… and did so twice! At the time of this writing, I need to go ahead and submit my article or Tom will frown at me – so or our upcoming Dinner Ride to Kingy’s Pizza in Canal Winchester to be held on Jan 23rd - I will tell you about in our next Newsletter. It’s good to see everyone at our chapter events, and knowing you made an extra effort to be there despite adverse weather conditions brings a smile. GWRRA highly encourages all of its members to support our chapters, and I just want to say thank you all again. It means a lot to both Amanda and I. We are both very much looking forward to so many upcoming events and the riding season! Stay warm and safe! Rob & Amanda Stufflebeam GWRRA Ohio Chapter B3 Chapter Director

Brrrr, and hope you are all keeping warm. I don’t know about you all, but Pam Vogel is the only person I know that loves shoveling SNOW!!! I am sure many of you have visited your bikes, maybe even sat on them during this cold weather, wishing for a warm day to go riding. By the time you read this, Cabin Fever will be in full swing and beware of the FOOD MASCOTS. What a great theme, can’t wait to share pictures of all the events, February 2 & 3, 2018 at the Mohican Lodge in Loudonville, OH. If you are unable to make Cabin Fever, the Indiana Winter Rendezvous is happening Feb 9 & 10th in Shipshewana, IN, themed PLAY BALL. Because of Cabin Fever falling on our usual 1st Saturday of the month, our Chapter gathering has been moved to Feb 10th, with Frisch’s lunch immediately following. As a Chapter, we feel it is a good gesture to patronize their business. We do use their parking lot as our jumping off point and our “empty bladder” location for rides. Frisch’s has always been accommodating and we want to show them our sincere appreciation, throughout the year, not just on New Year’s Day. We have our Mid -Month Team Meeting on Feb 15th where the “business” of the Chapter is handled. We do have a few positions available on the team. The Sunshine Person position held by Connie Ratliff is available. This position brings love, joy and sunshine to everyone in the chapter by tracking and sending out beautiful cards for BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, GET WELL, and other occasions. We have all received a beautiful pick-me-up card in the mail unexpectedly that makes us smile from B3. If no one else LOVES YOU, know that the B3 family does!! WE ARE FAMILY!! If you are interested in filling this position, please contact Rob or Amanda Stufflebeam for more details. The other position available is the RIDE COORDINATOR officer. To qualify, you must be a Road Captain, and a Level 2 to hold this position. This officer position is not required to lead or go on ALL rides. This might be a misconception by many people. Check the guidelines with GWRRA, and speak with Rob or Amanda Stufflebeam for more details and expectations by both you as well as GWRRA. The dinner ride on Feb 20th is to the NORTH end of town to accommodate our northern members. Location for this dinner is Fitzy’s Diner on the corner of Bethel and Sawmill. There are two locations; this is the one north, not Westerville. For the newer members, we do fun things throughout the year, and not just during riding season. So, dinner “rides” in the winter months, refer to driving your cars to dinner. Yes, keeping warm and safe in the snow is important. Although this is a riding chapter, there is more to do together throughout the year that is FUN, SAFE, and a GOOD TIME, even when we cannot get on our beautiful bikes and RIDE. Come join us for FUN even if we have to drive there in our cars. This Chapter is all about FUN, FRIENDS and FAMILY. 2018 is going to be a great year and a transition with GWRRA for the better. We are looking forward to more Rides, more time with friends, and less drama and issues getting in the way of everyone having a good time. COME JOIN THE FUN!

Robert G & Angela Williams

Hello Fellow Riders By the time you read this article Cabin Fever will have happened! Did you attend? I am thinking about my first Cabin Fever and a conversation I had with a long time GWRRA couple. They were telling me how they had just come in from the airport. My question was… where did you fly in from? They replied Florida. That peeked my interest, so I said why? They went on to tell me how they came back from Florida to hang out with their friends. They did not come for the silly games we play, or the Fantastic Seminars that are presented, or the Funny talent shows or any of the other entertainment venues. They came to Cabin Fever to be with their Friends. So my question to you is …what story will you be telling a new couple that just started their journey with GWRRA? I have set the 2018 Rider Course Schedule and will have attached a copy of the GWRRA Registration form to this article. Feel free to visit: http://www.ohiogwrra.org and download a copy and share it. Registrations are coming in at a good pace. Remember every weekend in May has a class somewhere. Please don’t let these go unfilled. The least expensive way to say to a friend I care is to give them a seat in this class. Or did you ever think of a Chapter to giving one as a Door Prize!!! Just saying… FROM THE DISTRICT EDUCATORS Robert G & Angela WILLIAMS
