Principal’s message Well done to all the Year 3 and Year 5 students who have completed half of NAPLAN Online testing last week. You still have a reading, language and numeracy test to complete this week and unlike some schools, our school was not affected by technological issues. Thank you to Mrs Pengilly and Mrs
Clements for all the work in the background to enable this to happen.
Over the next two terms our classes will all be studying a unit in Science which was written and developed by Mrs Miller, Mrs Matic and Miss Minikin to utilise our wonderful Age of Fishes museum. Our local museum has a wealth of artefacts, activities and information to complement our science curriculum and we wanted to incorporate this into our learning sequence. A note will be sent home today to explain this in more detail and we have “done a deal” with the museum to allow all our students to buy a one-off pass to allow them access to the museum multiple times with school and their family for the rest of the year.
SRC has organised the annual Stewart House fundraiser envelopes. These were sent home last week. If you would like to donate $2 towards Stewart House, please fill in your details and return envelopes by the end of this week. Every year we send 3-4 students from Year 6 to attend.
Good luck to all our rugby league and soccer players competing in their respective PSSA knockout rounds this week. Our dancers are gearing up for the Cowra Eisteddfod next week, don’t forget notes and money for the bus.
Thanks to Sam and all her helpers for providing the students with Crunch‘n’sip this Wednesday, we’re looking forward to it!
Have a great week!

Yarning GroupThese past few weeks the yarning group has taken a friend to do weaving, to make fences for the baby pelicans which are called pinkies.
Some Canowindra High School students have also helped out. We have used bamboo, string and native plants from around the school. The fences will be transported to Lake Brewster near Condobolin by canoe.

Age of Fishes Unit of Work
This year as a part of Science and Technology all students will be completing a unit of work related to the Age of Fishes Museum. Teachers have been working collaboratively with the museum to plan a hands-on practical program for each stage. These units will take place for a term with Early Stage 1 and Stage 3 completing the unit this term and Stage 1 and Stage 2 next term. Below is a list of what each stage will be learning about and the week which they will be visiting the Age of Fishes Museum.
The Age of Fishes Museum have kindly discounted the admission price to $5 per student. The excursion note has been sent home today with all students. Notes will need to be returned to the school office along with payment so that students can receive their entry pass. This entry pass will allow students access to the museum for the remainder of the year at no extra cost as well as for our compulsory excursion.
Early Stage 1 will be looking at rocks and minerals.

Class in Focus: Year 3/4
3/4R are busy, kind and inspired learners. Eating time in the classroom each day is always a great time to have a chat and enjoy a laugh together before we go outside to play at lunch time. The lap desks have been a winner in our classroom, we love to be able to move our learning around the room for different
activities throughout the day.

Shoosh for Kids is proudly supported by:
#shooshforkids I sport.nsw.gov.au
Shoosh for Kids is a collaborative effort between the Office of Sport and State Sporting Organisations to promote positive behaviour to members, clubs and associations. The general rule is if you haven’t got anything nice to say, not to say anything at all. Visit the Office of Sport website to find out more and show spectators and members where you stand on poor spectator behaviour during awareness week, 20 – 26 May. Let’s keep kids coming back to junior sport!
