    Issue One

    Hi Everyone!!

For those of you who dont know me, my name is Marijke Balaam and I am the AssistantDistrict Commissioner Activities (ADC) for Bishops Stortford and District. I am also anAssistant Explorer Scout leader in the District for Voyager ESU. I have been involved inScouting pretty much since I was born. Some of the best times of my life have come fromScouting, both as a Scout and as a Leader.

My role is to not only help promote different activities that are happening within the Countyand District, but to also help you all with programme ideas, which is where this newsletterXtra comes in.

The other part of my role is to help leaders with the Scout Associations Policy, Organisation

and Rules (POR). POR defines the structure of Scouting in the United Kingdom, the ChannelIslands and the Isle of Man and provides information about its management and training. The full update POR can be found using this link:

    http://www.scouts.org.uk/support_resource_view.php?support_resource_id=71

I have a hard copy of the activities section of POR so if you need to know anything at all, however silly you may think it is please dont hesitate to contact me!! It may turn out to bevery important.

I hope you all find this newsletter Xtra useful and put some of the ideas to the test, pleasetell me of any ideas you come up with that you think other people may not have tried and Ican incorporate them into it.

Many Thanks for reading this and I look forward to either meeting or hearing from you soon
