Prayer for Protection against a Pandemic

Lord Jesus Christ our God, You Who created human beings with utter goodness, the healer of our souls and bodies, heed now the supplica-tion of Your children, and save us from the impeding threat against the world. For this affliction has spread ferociously and the fear of death has surrounded us. Many have suffered and many have passed on to repose, and there is none to save us, except You, O Lord.

We know, Merciful Lord, that all this will cultivate our faith, as we im-plore you, crying out in utter repentance. Undo, O Lord, the dangerous effects of the virus and heal all people, as a most Gracious Lord. For those, who repose in peace, give rest in Your heavenly abode. Grant peace to the world, so that all people know that You are the Only God, and your faithful are not bound by death, but live forever.

For You are our hope and our whole life is in Your benevolent hands, and to You we give glory, as well as to the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

SAINT BASIL PRESCHOOL

MISSIONS in ALBANIA

Christ is Risen! Krishti u Ngjallja! Christos Anesti!

During these difficult days, it has never been more important to share the light of Christ with others! We have

been quarantined in our homes here in Albania for five weeks now! I am blessed to live in an apartment building with two other

missionary families and many clergy families, so I am not completely isolated and we see each other, always practicing social

distancing. During this unprecedented Holy Week of virtual prayer services, I have been able to gather to prayer with the Ritsi’s

and the Bendo’s for a few of the services. Today, for Holy Unction I was with Fr Stephanos and Presbytera Alexandria Ritsi and

Moses and their new baby Athan. I felt like we were experiencing what the “secret Christian services” were like under com-

munism when people gathered in their homes in fear. I felt so blessed to be able to pray together and encourage one another in

our journey to Pascha. I continually learn that the Church is not the building, the Church is Christ living in our hearts and we are

always in the Church wherever we are, when Christ lives in our hearts. I want to share with you His Beatitude Archbishop Ana-

stasios’ words of wisdom for this very difficult time. “This year we shall not be able to transmit the Paschal light from candle to

candle - as is the custom of the Orthodox Churches. Let us transmit from heart to heart the light of hope and fearlessness in our

Risen Lord.”

Anastasia Pamela Barksdale, M.Div.

“Signs in Our times” Podcast Miracles for the Modern Age

Every miracle has a purpose.

This podcast intends to share a

selection of the countless won-

drous and miraculous signs that

the Holy Spirit continues to pro-

vide in the life of the Church in

our own days, as well as the lives

of contemporary holy men and

women which reveal the vitality

and hidden strength to transform

humanity that still exists within

Orthodox Christianity today. It also seeks to address the

Church’s understanding of the role of miracles in our lives by

drawing upon the writings and teachings of the Saints of the

Church throughout the ages enlightening our understanding of

God’s Providence. On occasion we plan to interview some

“chosen vessels” who have been witnesses and participants

in these miraculous workings of the Spirit to give their eyewit-

ness accounts of the Glory of God and the Presence of Christ

in our midst.
