Minogue’s Beverage Center at 16 West Ave. in Saratoga Springs has announced that they are now selling 64 ounce growlers of fresh micro brew and imported draught beers. “We’re ex-tremely excited to add fresh craft beer growlers to our large selection of beverages after months of planning.” stated Jack Minogue, President of M. T. Minogue, Inc.Minogue’s currently has a changing selection of 8 rotating craft beers. Re llable growlers with art work by local artist Joyce Cleveland are available for $4.00 ea. or customer may bring in their own growlers to ll.The Minogue family is in its 91st year in business. Mr Minogue’s grandfather, Michael Thomas (M. T.) Minogue began as a soda bottler in Granville and obtained the 34th wholesale beer license after Prohibition was repealed.Mr. Minogue’s father, John Minogue, Sr., opened the rst Minogue’s Beverage Center in Queensbury in 1967. “At the time it was the rst beverage center north of Albany.” Mr. Minogue said. The Saratoga store opened in 1978 and the Wilton store at 624 Maple Ave. (Rt. 9) opened in 1990.Currently the Queensbury and West Ave., Saratoga locations are up and pouring. The Rt. 9 Wilton store is about two months away.On tap currently at West Ave. are: Adirondack Black Watch IPA, Davidson Bros. 15th Anniversary, Dog sh Head 90 Minute IPA, Flying Dog Raging Bitch, Three Heads Kind, Widmer Spiced IPA, Wolavers Oatmeal Stout, Wychwood Hobgoblin, and Mendocino Imperial Stout. Some of the brands that have been available in Queensbury and will rotate at West Ave. are Southern Tier, Victory, Long Trail, Breckenridge, Brooklyn, Burnside, Green Flash, Kona, Ommegang, Rogue, Saratoga, Sierra Nevada, Stone, Troegs, Smuttynose, Red Hook, and Blue Point. We also have suggestion cards for customer input.Growlers are the most eco-friendly and economical ways to enjoy take home draught beer. Growlers can be reused so there is very little waste produced. Quilt Honors Gold Star Mothers and Fallen Service MembersSARATOGA SPRINGS – A quilt featuring the names of 24 Capital Region service members who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan since 2001 is on display at the New York State Military Museum now thru the summer of 2012. The quilt fea-tures white stars on a blue background embroidered with the name of the service member and next to that is a gold star with the name of the service member’s mother. In 1928 a group of mothers whose sons had been killed in the war formed the Gold Star Mothers as a support organization and as a way to remem-ber their children. Blue Star Mothers was organized in 1998 as a way for women with sons and daughters in the military to support their children and all military members. The New York State Military Museum is located in the Saratoga Springs Armory at 61 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Museum hours: Tues.-Sat., 10am-4pm; Sun., 12-4pm. Closed on New York State holidays.
