The City of Fairfield’s Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) is working very hard to set the standard citywide for conserving energy and upgrading to energy-efficient lighting is a key part of this effort. Working with LSI Industries, the WWTF elected to upgrade the cobra head fixtures in the parking lot and all access roadway areas to LSI’s LED XRM Roadway Light. The original fixtures had a combination of High Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide and Mercury Vapor lamps so not only was this retrofit a significant reduction in energy usage but also a dramatic improvement in the overall lighting. The LED fixtures deliver a bright, crisp, white light that illuminated the area evenly to create a better sense of “seeability” and security.

In addition to the exterior, the WWTF saw an opportunity to improve the lighting in their Collection and Maintenance buildings. For these sites, they chose LSI’s energy-efficient IMX fluorescent high bay fixture. The IMX fixtures replaced 400-watt metal halide fixtures in one building and T-12 fixture in the second building. Again, by retrofitting, the WWTF immediately recognized improved lighting and energy savings.
