As we deal with all the reality of our life, there are many complexities, challeng-es and we can not find an understanding of all of this. The suffering, tragedies
and conflicts of life overwhelm us. We seek an understanding in all of this so as to find peace. We cry out to God to give us His Spirit.
The Holy Spirit comes to our aid and leads us in prayer, helping us to find an
answer deep in our hearts. We can not explain these words of The Holy Spirit, but our hearts find peace.

Protect young people from CYBERBULLING
Cyberbullying can happen at any time, on any online platform. It can take many forms – cruel direct messages, threatening emails, mean texts, shared photos, and more. Victims of cyber-bullying often suffer from anxiety and depres-sion, and their self-esteem can be diminished. They may be reluctant to talk about bullying, so parents need to be on top of all their children’s online activities. Asking questions and getting information about popular apps and sites will help, too.

Catechist Retreat
Saturday 9/14, Religious Education and Con-firmation Catechist will be attending a one-day retreat led by Farther Domingo titled “First to Love and Serve”, at Mary and Joseph Retreat Center in Palos Verdes. Please keep them in your prayers, as this retreat is an opportunity for our catechetical ministry to be renewed in spirit and to deepen our bonds with the Lord and with one another.
Catechetical Sunday
This year, the Church will celebrate Catecheti-cal Sunday on September 15. The theme this year is "Stay with Us.". Those who the Com-
munity has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Cate-chetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism,
in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an oppor-tunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

LET GO Although God gives us remarkable gifts and tal-ents, our influence on others is incomplete, transi-tory. Our limitations frustrate us, particularly when we can do nothing to change a painful or harmful situation in our lives or the lives of our loved ones. Few experiences are as bitter as the helplessness we feel in the face of misery. Mysteriously, this same helplessness is a gift. For many of us, we must become helpless before we truly understand where our help lies: in our loving God. We face innocent suffering, humiliation, disaster, and death, remembering that Jesus chose these trage-dies for himself. Jesus suffers with us. Jesus in-vites--but never forces--us to ask him to enter our broken hearts and messy lives. We are neither ca-pable of nor responsible for saving the world, but Jesus can redeem everything we offer him. LET FREEDOM RING We may balk at our helplessness, but remarkably, Jesus placed limitations even on himself. As peo-ple filed past Jesus hanging on his cross, they mocked him: You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, if you are the Son of God, [and] come down from the cross! (Matthew 27:40). Jesus could have glorified himself and forced his ridiculers to accept him as the Messiah, but God does not compel our belief or our love. Saint Paul echoes this as he writes to Philemon, I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that the good you do might not be forced but voluntary. In Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamozov, a character actually yells at Jesus for respecting our freedom. He claims human beings would be better off if Jesus used his power to con-trol us, compelling us to believe in God and to care for each other. But God prefers to respect our free-dom. In today s Gospel, Jesus invites us to re-nounce what we have and rely totally on him. It s our choice. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc
DÉJALO IR Aunque Dios nos da extraordinarios dones y talentos, la influencia que tenemos en los demás es incompleta y transitoria. Nuestras limitaciones nos frustran, particularmente cuando no hacemos nada para cambiar una situación dolorosa o dañina en nuestras vidas o en las vidas de nuestros seres queridos. Pocas experiencias son tan amargas co-mo la impotencia que sentimos ante la miseria. Misteriosamente, esta misma impotencia es un don. Para muchos de nosotros, debemos hacernos indefensos antes de que verdaderamente en-tendamos dónde está nuestra ayuda, en nuestro Di-os amoroso. Enfrentamos el sufrimiento inocente, la humillación, el desastre y la muerte, recordando que Jesús eligió estas tragedias para él mismo. Jesús sufrió con nosotros. Jesús nos invita, sin que nos fuerce, a pedirle que entre a nuestros cora-zones rotos y vidas desordenadas. Ni somos ca-paces ni responsables de salvar al mundo, pero Jesús puede redimir todo lo que le ofrezcamos. DEJA QUE LA LIBERTAD SUENE Podemos obstaculizar a nuestra impotencia, pero notablemente Jesús mismo se impuso limitaciones. Cuando las personas pasaban frente a Jesús cruci-ficado, se burlaban diciendo: Tú, que destruías el templo y lo construías en tres días, sálvate a ti mis-mo; sí eres Hijo de Dios, baja de la cruz (Mateo 27:40). Jesús pudo haberse glorificado a sí mismo y obligado a esas personas burlonas a aceptarlo como el Mesías, pero Dios no fuerza nuestra creencia o nuestro amor. San Pablo hace eco en lo que le escribe a Filemón, no he querido hacer nada sin tu consentimiento, para que el favor que me haces no sea como por obligación, sino por tu pro-pia voluntad . En el libro de Dostoevsky, Los her-manos Karazov, uno de los personaje en realidad le grita a Jesús por no respetar nuestra libertad. El autor afirma que los seres humanos serían mejores si Jesús usará su poder para controlarnos, obligándonos a creer en Dios y a cuidar unos de los otros. Pero Dios prefiere respetar nuestra liber-tad. En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos invita a re-nunciar a lo que tenemos y a confiar plenamente en él. Esa es nuestra elección. Copyright © J. S. Al manejar toda la realidad de la vida, hay muchas complejidades, retos y es dificil encontrar un entendimiento de todo ésto. El sufrimiento, tragedias y conflictos
de la vida parecen insuperables. Buscamos el sentido de todo esto para encontrar la paz. Le gritamos a Dios que nos de Su Espiritu.
El Espiritu Santo vienen en nustra ayuda y nos guia en la oración, a encontrar las respuestas en lo profundo del Corazon. No Podemos explicar estas palabras del
Espíritu Santo, pero encontramos la paz.
“Señor… Tu has sido nuestro refugio de generación en generación… Enséñanos a calcular nuestros años para que adquiramos un corazón sensato…” Salmo 90

Proteger a los jóvenes del CIBERACOSO El acoso (bullying) cibernético puede ocurrir en cualquier momento, en cualquier plataforma en línea. Puede tomar muchas formas, como men-sajes crueles directos, correos electrónicos ame-nazadores, textos agresivos, fotos compartidas y más. Las víctimas de acoso cibernético a menudo sufren de ansiedad y depresión, y su autoestima puede disminuir. Es posible que se muestren reacios a hablar sobre el acoso escolar, por lo que los padres de familia deben estar al tanto de todas las actividades en línea de sus hi-jos. Los padres de familia pueden buscar ayuda, preguntando y buscando información sobre aplicaciones y sitios populares.

Seminarista : Daniel Vega
Después de obtener una Maes-tría en Bellas Artes en el Taller de Animación de UCLA y trabajar durante tres años en la production de Los Simpsons, Daniel Vega dis-cernió un llamamiento al sacerdo-cio católico y dejó su trabajo para estudiar en el Seminario de San Juan. Ahora se unirá a nosotros aquí en la Iglesia nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro para su pasantía de un año. En su tiempo libre, Daniel disfruta escribiendo e ilustrando cuentos. El domingo 16 de Junio, veinte - siete adultos culminaron sus estudios en el Curso Basico de Biblica. Este programa es dirig-ido por el Instituto Biblico Católico de la Arquidiócesis de Los Angeles. Marriage: Call the parish office at least six (6) months (strongly recommend one (1) year) in advance to make arrangements. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office. To schedule a visit by a priest, we highly recommend that you call early in the illness. Quinceañeras: Call the parish office at least six (6) months in advance to make ar-rangements. The young lady must have received the Sacraments of Baptism and First Eucharist. It is highly recommended that the young lady be enrolled in Confirmation.

After earning a Master in Fine Arts at the UCLA Anima-tion Workshop and working for three years on The Simp-sons, Daniel Vega discerned a calling to the Catholic priesthood and left his job to study at St. John’s Seminary. He will now be joining us here at Our Lady of Per-petual Help Church for his yearlong intern-ship. In his free time, Daniel enjoys writing and illustrating short stories. “I am looking forward to getting to know the community and in growing by serving the people of God.” - Daniel Vega

MINISTERIO BIBLICO DE OLPH CONGRATULATES!
On Sunday June 16, 2019 twenty seven adults com-pleted their studies in The Basic Bible course. In the last two years 70 students have graduated from this course. Some continued in the Intermediate and Ad-vance courses. This program is run by the Catholic Biblical Institute of the Archdioceses of Los Angeles.
