PASTOR’S COLUMN
Dear Community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
“God did not make death …” Wisdom God never wanted death for us. He made us for eternal life. But the devil seduced man and woman to want to be like God. This decision brought sin into the world. Selfishness, hatred, division, violence entered the paradise God wanted for us. The mystery of suffering came to be a part of our existence.
“God formed man to be imperishable … the image of His own nature He made him … by the envy of the devil … death entered the world …” Wisdom
God did not abandon us, He came to our rescue. Jesus came to be one with us. He entered our mis-ery. With His love and wisdom, He reopened the doors of eternal life for all of us.
“Christ for your sake became poor … so that by His poverty you might become rich …” 2 Corinthians
“Our Savior Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel …” 2 Timothy
Our Lord Jesus Christ calls to us like He called the little girl in the Gospel.
“I say to you … arise! …” Mark
He calls us to victory over every kind of death, and eventually will call us to life eternal.
Monsignor Lorenzo

SAFETY TRUMPS GOOD MANNERS
As parents/caregivers, we teach children to say “please” and “thank you,” to play nicely, and to re-spect other adults. It is also key to stress the im-portance of safety, and let children know that it is okay to be impolite if they feel threatened or scared. Children should know that it’s okay to say “NO” if someone is asking them to do something they don’t feel comfortable doing, and that se ng boundaries by saying things like -- “Don’t touch me there,” or “I don’t like that” -- are not rude, but in fact necessary for their safety.
SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN
We are on summer break! Over the summer, our school will have the 3rd- 5th grade classrooms, science and art room renovated. The school will also receive new exterior paint and the blacktop will be repaired.
Our school is currently accepting application for the 2018-2019 school year. We offer tours of the classroom and are available to answer questions. Please call the of-fice for more information.

OUR LADY SCHOOL NEWS My brothers and sisters, The story that the gospel tells us today has an impres-sive detail. It impressed Jesus, the apostles, especially impressed a woman. It is a miracle that Christ per-formed, on the way, while on the road to bring life to Jairus's daughter. A sick woman thought that by just touching Jesus' robe she would be healed. She did touch it and she was healed. The impressive detail is that Jesus felt that touch of the woman's hand. A lot of people surrounded Jesus, many touched him with curiosity, some touched him in-advertently. But that woman touched Jesus with faith. More than twenty centuries ago, Jesus allowed himself to be touched and today he con nues to let himself be touched by many. Blessings, Deacon Carlos

FAITH IS TO BELIEVE Placing our faith and trust in God, whom we can-not see, is not always easy. We wonder why suffer-ing exists and ques on the meaning of life and our purpose in the world. We wonder if God is really present during the most challenging of life circum-stances; we some mes experience spiritual dryness, in which God seems distant or absent. At mes, we may feel strong in faith, un l a situa on at home or work requires us to act as a person of faith, and sud-denly faith is no longer easy, convenient, or com-fortable. These moments are so common that we speak of taking a “leap of faith,” when we act out of faith, even when the result of doing so is uncertain. Such a leap is o en a turning point in our lives, as we find strength, healing and peace in turning our burdens and anxie es over to God in trust. Saint Augus ne said, “Faith is to believe what you do not see. The result of this faith is to see what you be-lieve.” THE RESULT OF FAITH As we grow in faith, we come to believe that God is always with us, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit and the sacramental life of the Church, especially the Eucharist. We are assured of God’s presence in quiet moments of prayer and ex-periences of the kindness, care, and compassion of others. We “see what we believe” through all of these encounters with Christ’s love. These experi-ences lead us to praise and thank God for our many blessings, and to reach out to others so that, through us, they may also encounter Christ’s undy-ing love. Through all of this, we grow in our willing-ness to share our many gi s with others, especially the faith that makes such a difference in our lives. Copyright © J. S. Paluch

Sabiduria

NOTICIAS DE LA ESCUELA Mis hermanos y mis hermanas,
