THANK YOU The Quirey family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Home and School Committee, the East Taieri school community and the local community for their kindness and generous support with the quiz night last Tuesday evening for Caroline. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you from Caroline and family.
YEAR 0-3 CROSS COUNTRY
On Friday we had the Year 0-3 cross country. It started off so well with a great turn out from parents, grandparents and pre-schoolers and some very excited
children. We managed to get a few races through and the clouds opened up and down came the rain in buckets! A huge thank you to the adults who helped to get all the children inside, and to those who braved it out and stayed to watch the Year 3 races. We didn’t manage to get the Year 2 girls race run, so this race will be held on Thursday at 12.00. All results and photos will be in next week’s newsletter, and certificates will be handed out at assembly on Friday. Thanks for your support.
SCOOTER ISSUES We have had several scooters mistakenly taken home by children thinking that they are theirs. Could parents check children’s scooters to make sure that they are actually theirs. ALL SCOOTERS TO BE NAMED PLEASE.
DANCE CLUB
On Friday the children from the Dance Club performed to the school, showcasing what they had learnt over the year. Many thanks to Rebecca McCracken for her help during the year and to Gill and Sam from the Dunedin Rock N Roll Club. A big
thank you to Lucy Morris for her organisation of Dance Club throughout the year.

I am having the best dream of my life then
suddenly Mum wakes me up. I hate mornings, the
feeling of having to get out of bed when I am all
warm and comfortable is so annoying. Mum
wakes me up by turning the light on, which springs
my eyes open. I try to get back to sleep but with
the light on, Zac in the shower and Mum’s radio
on, it would be near impossible for me. I can’t be
bothered reading so I decide it’s time to get up. As
I am jumping out of bed Zac gets out of the
shower. So I stumble down the hall way to the
bathroom. After my warm shower I pull the
curtains to see a lovely day. After I get dressed
and stumble down to the kitchen to make my
yummy breakfast.

I hear Paddy calling out to me as if he were
saying, “give me some food, its cold!” Then I
hear my Mum yelling at Ben because he was on
the computer playing games. So I head out to
the paddock with some pony pellets. I feel the
rubber gumboots rubbing violently against my
socks. When I get to the paddock I felt the frosty
metal as I felt for the clip to unclip it. Suddenly a
little muzzle comes out of nowhere and pokes
me gently in the stomach. I give him a scratch
behind his ear and he nickers to me softly. I run
down and put the bucket in the tyre and
suddenly without thinking I jump up onto his
back.

COLLECTING CANS
The Student Council will be coming around classes daily to collect cans. There will be a competition, with a prize, for the class which brings the most cans over the week.
I wake up to “Jacko get into the shower – its
7.20!!” “Ahhh” I groan. I lie down under my
warm sheets for about five more minutes, until
Mum calls me to get up again. Then I slowly
drag myself out of my warm soft bed! Straight
away the coldness hits me. I gather up my
school uniform in my left arm and my towel in
my right hand. After everything else, like
having breakfast and brushing my teeth, I grab
my bag and jump onto my bike and start
pedalling as fast as I can to school. At the
corner, where Riccarton Road and Gladstone
Road meet, I look back for cars, then I cross if
its clear and wait for the last car if it’s not clear.
When I arrive at school it’s a normal day!!

“Woof Woof” – my dogs spring into my room like
Usain Bolt. After being drowned in slobber I flick
my lamp on while snatching my ipad to watch some
youtube. Bang the cat leaps onto the timber cold
window sill waiting for me to let him in. The sweet
sound of Tui and Bellbirds makes my eyes get
heavier and heavier. I start to slide off my bed with
the dogs taking over. My icy cold feet sneak into
my heated slippers. Mission – go to school is a go!
The syrupy smell of gold crumpets fills the kitchen
as I eat them all up. I slip into my uniform and play
hide and seek with my dogs all around the house.
Grabbing some food for school I put it in my lunch
box and rush outside onto the trampoline and
bounce around like a rabbit until its time to get on
my bike and go to school. “Click” my helmet wraps
around my head like a snake and I bike off to
school. I say “hi” to my neighbours zooming past.

LOST SCOOTER
Early in the first week of November a child has accidently
“swapped” their scooter for our son’s. It is a Silver “Razor”
scooter with blue handles. The scooter was stored with others
behind Mrs Horgan’s office.
Our son would love his scooter back please and is keen to
swap it back (both scooters are the same but our son’s handle
was higher).
Please phone if it could be your child’s scooter that we have.
Thanks
