JUMP ROPE FOR HEART – this Friday morning 31 May
A reminder to students about getting their sponsorship forms for Jump Rope filled. Although
some of the money goes to the Heart Foundation, the school gets a proportion to spend on
sports equipment. Parents are welcome to join us for the Year 6 BBQ lunch.
DISCOVERY TIME
‘Discovery Time’ has started again on a Friday between playtime and lunchtime for the senior
and middle school children (11:20-12:30). ‘Discovery Time’ is a fantastic opportunity to
develop the wonderful child leaders we have at East Taieri School and help students to
develop the competencies to become lifelong learners and competent citizens.
Discovery Time provides opportunities to help scaffold and extend students’ learning through
a variety of different learning experiences, ranging from science and technology, to building
and the arts. Eventually children will be leading and planning activity sessions but we require
parents to come and support the children and also take small groups for activities.
If you are available to come along, even once, and take a small group for an activity it would
be hugely appreciated. Examples of activities you might like to take are cooking, art, craft,
woodwork, sports skills, board game sessions, photography……….anything you like! There
can be remuneration of costs of materials if necessary. Grandparents are also very welcome to
come along as well.
Please fill in the form below and return it to your child’s teacher. Any questions please
contact Sarah O’Neill or email her at [email protected]

NEW ZEALAND PLAYHOUSE
One of our Charter goals is to provide quality learning experiences in the Arts. We aim to
expand student appreciation of art forms through at least one visit per year by performing
artists. This year we have booked the New Zealand Playhouse Theatre group who will be
performing ‘The Big Sad Wolf’ at school next Thursday afternoon.
The cost per student for the performance is $4.00 which will be added to the term account.
UNIFORM
There are a number of students who have been wearing non-uniform clothing - eg
coloured/striped sweatshirts and polyprops, boots and gumboots. Please check our uniform
guidelines and ensure that all Year 0 to 5 students are wearing the correct school uniform.
SPORTS UNIFORM
Children representing our school in sports teams are expected to wear our sports uniform.
Could parents please support us in this expectation.
