REVIEWING OUR SCHOOL VISION
Our present vision was written 12 years ago. We are reviewing our vision to ensure it reflects the changing world that our children are part of. We would appreciate your input in this process as you are an integral part of our school community. Could you please take the time to answer a short survey. Your responses
along with those of staff and students, will help us to form the vision for our school. To access the survey, type in the following address (https://goo.gl/forms/FjvfwYbzBsEJ7Grw1) or go to the school website (www.easttaieri.school.nz) or click on the link in Facebook. The survey will be accessible for 1 more week

ATHLETICS
On Tuesday the Senior Syndicate held their annual school athletics sports. The children all showed great sportsmanship, encouraging their fellow competitors and are to be congratulated for their efforts. A number of students qualified for the TSSA athletics on Tuesday 25 October. These children will receive a notice this week with more information about this event.
SPORT AND CULTURAL GROUP FUNDING
East Taieri Home and School Committee and Parents supporting our endeavours have created a small surplus for 2016. With this surplus we would like to support Sports and Cultural groups of East Taieri School and, are now inviting groups to apply for funding. Please apply in writing with the name of the group, a quick explanation of the equipment needed, a summary of costs and your contact details. If successful, the money will need to be spent and receipts returned before December 5th. Please be aware that you may not receive all the funding asked for depending on the number of applications we receive. The next Home & School meeting is October 26th. Envelopes should be clearly named for Home and School Committee and given to Annette in the office. Good luck!
WINTER SPORTS ASSEMBLY
Congratulations to all the sports teams who competed over the winter in hockey, netball and miniball. It was wonderful to see so many of the teams placed in their competitions. WORKING BEE -SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER
Ross Ballantyne, our caretaker and Andrew Hollands, our Board of Trustees member responsible for Property would like to hold a working bee at
school on Saturday 12 November. Ross has done an amazing job tidying up the school grounds over the
last term, but he has a few projects that require extra man/woman-power! He needs at least three people with chainsaws, (must have safety gear) and helpers to cart away branches, etc. The woodchips under the adventure playground are to be replaced, so shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows will be required. Work on the new Junior Playground development outside Rooms 9 and 10 will also take place on the same day. Dallas Shaw will be overseeing this project. People with carpentry skills will be required for this venture. If you are able to assist, please fill in the attached slip, indicating which jobs you would like to help with. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORKING BEE - SATURDAY 12 NOVEMBER

IT DONATION
At East Taieri we are working towards having a 1:1 student to device ratio. We believe that devices and technology play an integral role in our children’s future and we strive to provide the best possible access to these tools. Last year we introduced an IT Donation to the school fees. So far this year we have raised just over $2800. As you can see in the thermometer our current student to device ratio is 1:3. We would like to thank all those who have contributed towards helping us achieve this goal.
TEE BALL / SOFTBALL PLAYERS WANTED URGENTLY
The softball season is about to begin. If you would like
to play either Tee Ball or Softball please contact the office.
Last season the Tee Ball team had a successful season and
it would be great to continue this. Peter Wilson is happy to
coach the team again. At this stage we have one Tee Ball team but
only have 9 players and we also have 7 players for the Peanut League,
which is the beginning of real softball. If you would like to be part of either of these teams
please contact the office or Peter Wilson on 0274 327489.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Every year thousands of shoe boxes are filled by New Zealanders and sent
overseas to children less privileged or who are in desperate situations.
Boxes can be filled with such items as clothing, a little toy, school
stationery or personal hygiene items. It is easy, fun and a great way to
involve your children in a practical way to help those less fortunate. If you
would like to fill a box please see Jo Hackfath who has some in her office. Boxes need to be
filled by October 30th.
