Information design tool: Duplicate names improperly converted in linked universesADAPT01433759

When converting a linked universe, if duplicate class names exist in the linked universes, the information designtool leaves the duplicate names. Therefore the business layer can have duplicate dimension names.

Information design tool: Compute Statistics can have poor performanceADAPT01443117

When computing statistics for a multisource universe or business layer, in many cases the computation takeslonger than expected. Workaround: Once the Compute Statistics is launched, you can minimize the Compute Statistics dialog box and continue towork in the information design tool. If you launch the command from the Business Layer Editor, do not close theeditor until the computation is complete.

Information design tool: Automatic join creation fails for some joinsADAPT01449962

If a database join expression includes only table names and no column names, creating a join in the datafoundation fails.

Crystal Reports for Enterprise: Common Semantic Layer Queries with “group SQLfunction” type measures and memo/blob objects

ADAPT01451073

There are special universe design considerations to support a query that contains measures and memo/blobobjects. If you query a measure with a group function in its SQL definition (for example, SUM) together with memo or blobobjects, you may see an error message stating that this is not supported. For example, you have two universe objects in your query: EmployeeEducationSummary defined as a memo: Employee.EducationSummary OrderAmount defined as measure: SUM(Orders.OrderAmount) Use one of the following universe design options to avoid the error: 1. Convert memo/blob: When creating the universe object for the memo, use the DB convert function to convertthe type to a char, such as ‘convert(varchar(255), EducationSummary)’. The disadvantage of this solution is thatthe field content will be truncated if the memo/blob field exceeds the maximum character length. 2. Use derived table: When defining the measure in the universe, use a derived table: a. Create a derived table EmployeeSumOrders from the data source table using the following SQL statement(note: the column alias for summary is needed) i. SELECT EmployeeID, SUM(OrderAmount) "CalcSumOrders" ii. FROM Orders GROUP BY EmployeeID b. Link the table and the derived table on EmployeeID c. Expose the field “CalcSumOrders” from the derived table as a measure field with measure selection query. For example: "EmployeeSumOrders"."CalcSumOrders" 3. Expose the underlying fact (Orders.OrderAmount) measure directly, without a database function such asSUM. Then when creating the report, use OrderAmount directly and create a local Crystal Reports summary on it.The disadvantage of this approach is that the facts are all retrieved from the database rather than the sum beingcalculated in the database.

The issue may still occur when installing Universe Designer and Web Intelligence components on the samemachine with an RTC or SP01 full installer and then patching to SP01 Patch 1.2 or later level. When using full installers prior to XI 4.0 SP02 everything will function correctly after installation, however, problems are likely to occur if only one of the following are uninstalled completely: • The Universe Designer, or • All of the Web Intelligence components This will cause the registry key to be removed from the system and the following issue which was resolved in BI4.0 SP01 could happen again. If Universe Designer is uninstalled and WebI components remain then “save asPDF” may generate PDFs with a default system font rather than the desired font. To workaround this issue the registry key: hkey_local_machine/software/sap businessobjects/suite xi 4.0/default/shared/general/directories/system fonts will need to be recreated and the value should be set to the Windows System Fonts directory.

Another user opens this document in Web Intelligence Rich Client. This user is assigned aCreate Query Business Security Profile that denies one of the universe objects in the document. If this user opensthe previous document and displays the Query Panel, the denied object is still present in the query and thegenerated SQL. Workaround: Manually remove this object before running the query.

Web Intelligence: Bex query limitationsADAPT01561940

Please note the following Bex query limitations with this release: * Exclusion (exclamation mark) is not supported as a default value: this can lead to incorrect results. * Linked nodes are not displayed. * Lower level nodes are always shown after the main node. * The Bex query decimal number definition is not consumed in Web Intelligence. Use the formatted value insteadif you need to keep the exact decimal setting in your report. You can also apply the decimal setting in the tableand chart of your report.* * Variables are displayed with respect to the variable dependency (less dependent first)rather than the order defined in the Bex query. * Do not use more than 50 objects in a Bex query, otherwise an error occurs. * When there are dependencies between variables in compound characteristics and their parent, thedependencies are not guaranteed. * It is not possible to show an overall hierarchy out of an axis hierarchy. The characteristics, hierarchies, and keyfigures that make up the hierarchy are retained. * Filters as default values are not supported, these are removed from the Bex query. The filter will be ignored, or,if a variable is used, the variable prompt will display, but the user response is ignored. Move any restriction basedon a variable into the filter zone in order for it to be taken into account for reporting. * By default, hierarchies are not expanded to a given level. Level00 is always the default level. To reproduce thisbehavior, expand the table and chart in the report, then save the document. * When a variable is defined to support the complex selection, there is no equivalent. This is limited to rangeselection. * Rows of zero values are not removed from the result table. * Default positions of characteristics in Rows / Columns are not reproduced. * Lower level nodes are always below the upper levels. * The key figures on which the local calculation ("Rank", "Minimum"...) are defined are removed from the Bexquery. Avoid the use of these, prefer the equivalent calculation function in the report. * Do not use result rows. It is recommended to rely on Web Intelligence summaries instead. * It is recommended to avoid Formula with calculation depending on the layout (“Percentage share of result” ) thatare not supported. You can use equivalent calculation function in the Web Intelligence report. * Hierarchical measure structures are displayed as a flat list of measure. * Conditions are disabled. It is recommended instead to define the conditions on the report side by using thefiltering or ranking report capabilities.

Web Intelligence: cannot modify manually entered filter valuesADAPT01567281

When you enter values manually in a filter, run the query, and reopen the Query Panel, the values in the filtercannot be modified. This is a product limitation and occurs because the values are interpreted as having comefrom a list of values instead of a manually entered list. Workaround : Select the radio button “Constant” instead of “Value(s) from list”. Then you can set your cursor inthe field and change the values manually.

Different SQL syntax is generated in Universe Designer, Desktop Intelligence and Web Intelligence

This problem is resolved.

When you observe SQL syntax in Desktop Intelligence and compare it with SQL syntax of the same universe inWeb Intelligence a difference is noted. This is due to recent changes in the Web Intelligence code line. Thesechanges were introduced because some users need to ignore embedded select statements in complex joinexpressions while others do not. To allow both behaviors, a new universe dynamic parameter was introduced so that users could choose a specificdesired behavior. The default value of the parameter PARSE_SELECT_IN_JOIN is set to “NO.” This allows the user to ignore theembedded select statements in the complex join expression. The value of the parameter PARSE_SELECT_IN_JOIN must be set to “YES” If the user wants to display theembedded select statements in the complex join expression. This means that the user will revert to the behavior of QT, and the SQL will be the same in both DesktopIntelligence and Web Intelligence. Of course, the universe must be re-exported. This parameter is consumed in QT only. There is no impact on SQL generation for Desktop Intelligence /Designer. This parameter value is not associated with any PRM file. This is a default parameter. It is displayed for any newly created universe. For an existing universe, the user mustadd it manually.

When selecting Refresh Structure, the size of the OLAP Universe increases although no changes to the structure, the schema, or underlying database have occurred.

Unless there is any change in the underlying schema and database objects used in the Universe, the size of theUniverse does not increase unnecessarily. This problem is resolved.

Currently, you would need to click REFRESH STRUCTURE twice in order to get the universe properlysynchronized and not to grow unneccessarily in size. In the future upcoming Fix Packs, this issue will be fixed, and you will only need to refresh once to maintain the size of the universe.

Exporting a hyphen character to RTF results in what appears to be a hyphen, but when it is copied and pastedinto an ASCII code converter, is not a 45, but a 30, which is a blank space.

To resolve this issue, add registry key UseOriginalHyphen to control hyphen characters in RTF. The type of keyfor UseOriginalHyphen is DWORD. If its value is 1, the hyphen is - in RTF when exporting the hyphen of CrystalReports to RTF. If its value is 0, the hyphen is '\_' in RTF.

This fix is only for Rich Text Format (RTF) format. It is not for Microsoft Word 97-2003 format, which also uses theRTF extension.

Information design tool's OLAP connection wizard uses numeric format to save information concerning theSystem Number. When the SAP BW system has a System Number between 01 and 09 included, this prevents theconnection from working correctly in Interactive Analysis because saved data trims the first zero digit. The OLAPClient layer in Interactive Analysis doesn't override this incorrect value to enable reporting on published universeand connection.

The wizard in the information design tool now has a text field to fill in the System Number value, which allowsdouble digit values to start with a with zero (01 - 09). The OLAP Client layer has a fallback mechanism to add aleading zero in front of the System Number parameter when it has only 1 digit. This prevents incomplete valuesfrom occurring and avoids having a disabled consumption connection, and fixes behavior for connections createdprevious to this patch.Limitations:
