Father Brian Harrington, Pastor
The number of priests per Catholic has declined over the past 40 years. This makes it more difficult for individual parishioners to establish a close relationship with any one particular priest. Furthermore, priests are no longer the only ones who offer pastoral care to our people. Yet without a priest, no parish is able to be a Eucharistic community. It is important to reaffirm the importance of the priesthood of Jesus Christ
Please pray for our parish family members who are sick: Ella Mae LeBlanc, Mike Breaux, Leslie Douet, Susie M. We welcome our newly Baptized in our church in April
Wyatt Ray Allen
Please remember in your prayers: Brigette Frederick who was buried in our parish. May she rest in peace. May her families and friends be comforted by our prayer and God’s abundant graces. Thanks to all those who offered prayers & support to her families.
Question: Why does one Mass every weekend have to be designated totally for Our Lady of Prompt Succor Parish Family?
You may have seen in our parish bulletin that one of the Sunday Masses is scheduled “For the People”. In some bulletins they still use the Latin, “Pro Populo“, or perhaps they vary the wording a bit, such as “For the People of the Parish”. But generally speaking, there should be one such intention for every Sunday and Holy Day of Obligation. Here is what the Code of Canon Law says about it:
After a pastor has taken possession of his parish, he is obliged to apply a Mass for the people entrusted to him on each Sunday and holy day of obligation in his diocese. [Canon 534 – canon 540 extends this also to Parish Administrators]
If you have a question about anything and you prefer to stay anonymous, write it down on a sheet of paper and drop it into the collection basket. If you aren’t concerned about anonymity, email the question at: [email protected], or you can call the office at 337-369-6993. Fr. Harrington will answer the question and then publish the question and answer in the bulletin.
THANK YOU COTEAU FAMILY NIGHT
A HUGE thank you to Coteau Family Nite Baseball for the donation of the
funds for our NEW Family Restroom in our parish life center. The new restroom will have a folding baby changing table, handicap rails along side and back of the toilet and easy access for a wheelchair entrance. We thank all those who support this organization. We especially thank all those who are volunteer to run the program. Thank You Coteau Community for your support!! We thank our contractor, Mr. Eric Claudet our parishioner, for an excellent job well done.
Mausoleum Vase Lifter
We have recently purchased a vase lifter for our mausoleum
owners to use to replace flowers. It will be stored under the altar
near the covered patio. Please replace it there after usage.
The Diocese of Lafayette has made available an opportunity for anyone to further their education online in the convenience of their home. The office of Catechetics has a short 3 minute video on their webpage that will direct you on how to create an account. Our parish has already been placed in the system, so all you have to do is create your personal account. We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for us to grow in our faith. All you have to do is go to: www.francisanathome.com/diolaf to begin to create your account.
Dylan Allen, the seminarian staying with Fr. Harrington until the end of May, is thoroughly enjoying his time in Coteau. We are so happy that you are enjoying your stay in the greatest parish in the world!!
