This weekend, we celebrate "Pentecost Sun-day." Pentecost is our celebration and remem-brance of the coming of the Holy Spirit into the world to give
each of us the Grace to imitate Jesus in our lives. The Holy Spirit is also the heart of our One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church (See Acts 15:28 de-scribing the Council of Jerusalem and its decisions being that of not only the Apostles, but the Holy Spirit as well). Jesus told the Apostles that he would send His Spirit, Who would teach and remind them of all the things He taught. Therefore, The Holy Spirit teaches us all things (first and foremost through His Church) and reminds us of what is truly good. He prompts us to love God and each other as Jesus did, and gives us the Grace to act upon those promptings. Our devotion to liv-ing a life in Christ should be total, not partial. Reliance on the Holy Spirit at all times is necessary to live such a complete Christian life of discipleship.
Of course, none of us has reached a point of complete imitation of Christ, so we continue to examine our lives and change, or convert, in accord with the prompting of the Holy Spirit with our cooperation. The first way of knowing we are living in accord with The Holy Spirit is that we do all things that Jesus commanded us, beginning with the commandments as taught by Jesus and His Church. In doing that, we can learn to more fully love as Jesus loved. Memorial Day Weekend This past week we celebrated Memorial Day, a day when we take time to give thanks to those who have served in our armed forces and given their lives to ensure the freedom we enjoy. As we are reminded every time armed conflict occurs in our world, freedom isn’t free. In order to protect individual and soci-etal freedoms, including the freedom to practice our faith, an armed force is necessary. We are thankful for the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in our armed forces, and we pray for them and their families. We remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for us. John's Gospel tells us: "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." We thank God for
raising up these men and women who were and are willing to lay down their lives so that others have the opportuni-ty to live a life in freedom and full hu-man dignity. We pray that God will continue to bless our country, and that He bless and keep in his care our veter-ans and active service members. May we always appreciate what they have done for us! Pandemic Updates Tomorrow, Monday June 1st we should get more direction from our governor, followed by Bishop Deshotel regarding the Phase 2 directives. This may mean an increase in the number of people permitted in the church building for each Mass. Since these directives will be released after the submission dead-line for the next bulletin, we’ll send out any changes to the current directives and protocols via email and post them on our website and Facebook page.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU ARRIVE Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early for Mass to allow
time for seating. Nursery and cry rooms are unavailable, but know that
all of our children are welcome. Masks are recommended, but not required (we will
have a limited number for distribution at Mass if you forget to bring one).
Bring hand sanitizer for use before Holy Communion Bring missalettes if you have them. Bring a folding chair in case overflow areas are needed If possible, families should come together as one group. If at all possible, please take care of bathroom needs
prior to arrival. For emergency bathroom needs, the only available bathrooms with be those in the hallway by the covered drop off.
ARRIVAL PROCEDURE Parking is available campus wide. The church will be opened at least 30 minutes before
Mass time. Enter through the center door on the plaza where you
will be directed to your seat. Due to the current situation, you will not be able to
choose your seats. Larger families will sit in the nave, smaller families in
the transepts. All seating will be from the aisle on each side of the pew
inward with a 6 foot marking for the space between families.
LEAVING MASS Due to the need to prepare the Church for the next
Mass, private prayer in the Church is not available after Mass.
After the dismissal, use the nearest exit from your pew. Do not leave anything in the pews (missallettes, song
sheets, bulletins, etc.). Unfortunately, visiting with clergy after Mass is not
possible at this time.
Please Remember: Persons who are vulnerable to the virus (ill, with pre-existing conditions, age 65 years and over, etc.) should use their discretion in attending Mass and are encouraged to honor the below directives extended to us by Bishop Deshotel:
Until retracted or altered by Bishop Deshotel, all Catholics in the Diocese of Lafayette remain dis-pensed from their obligation from attending Sun-day Masses. Catholics may also fulfill their spiritu-al duty to consecrating the week (Sabbath) on any day of the week, including Monday - Saturday mornings.

tory, etc.) will be given to you during the liturgy. To prevent you from getting sick, staff will sani-
tize the Church with products made specifically for the fragile surface areas of the Church’s pews and furnishings.

Continued Prayers for the COVID-19 Pandemic This simple, three-part format for prayer is offered for those who wish to pray about the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important to remember that we are always united as members of the Body of Christ, especially when we pray, and in communion with the saints, who continue to intercede on our behalf.
The order of prayer includes: an invitation to prayer, scrip-ture reading, litany of inter-cession, and a concluding prayer.
1. Invitation to Prayer (in these or similar words....) During times of crisis, in moments of doubt, during periods of isolation, through seasons of uncertainty… we place our trust in our loving God.
Let us open our hearts to God’s word. In communion with the saints, in soli-darity with the suffering, and united with all people of good will, we pray for all whose lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Scripture Acts 11:27-30 In those days some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch, and one of them named Agabus stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine all over the world, and it happened under Claudi-us.
So the disciples determined that, ac-cording to ability, each should send relief to the brothers and sisters who lived in Judea. This they did.

3. Litany • Litany of Intercession For researchers working to develop effective treatments and vaccines; For administrators, staff, and medical per-sonnel working in hospitals; For para-medics, ambulance drivers, and all first
responders; For active-duty service men and women, and for reservists called to serve; For all who care for nursing home residents; For psycholo-gists, counselors, therapists, social workers, and hospital chaplains.
For people who are sick with COVID-19, especially those who are seriously ill; For seniors and people with under-lying conditions, who are especially vulnerable; For people in countries lacking sufficient resources to respond effectively to the crisis.
For friends and loved ones who are unable to be together; For people who are feeling isolated, alone, or anxious; For troubled families who find extend-ed time at home especially difficult; For federal, state, and local leaders of government; For the staff of FEMA & other emergency response agencies; For public health officials at the national, state, and local levels; For those charged with communicating official information to the public; For journal-ists, writers, reporters, broadcasters, and online news services;
For families and individuals struggling with financial hardship; For small busi-nesses struggling to stay afloat; For teachers and professors, school admin-istrators, and staff members; For ele-mentary, high school, and college stu-dents at home; For parents who are working and caring for children at home; For employees who are finding new ways to work remotely.
For people who continue to work in essential positions; For mail carriers, delivery services, package handlers, and drivers; For staff who clean and sanitize buildings; For retail employees who are working longer shifts and additional days; For cooks, bakers, and servers who con-tinue to provide meals; For volunteers who serve in food pantries, in homeless shelters, and at blood drives; For peo-
ple with resources who are sharing them generously; For poets, composers, artists, and musicians; For pastors, par-ish coordinators, and parish staff mem-bers; For all who are finding innovative ways to provide pastoral care.
For those who are not following social distancing or “stay at home” directives; For those whose behavior puts them-selves and others at risk; For patience during fast-changing circumstances and long stays at home; For the courage to focus on long-term goals rather than short-term inconveniences; For greater faith during this time of uncertainty and doubt; For greater hope as we face an unknown future; For greater love as we share the burdens of the corona-virus pandemic.
4. Concluding Prayer • Strength in Time of Storm
God our Sturdy Vine, in you we find nourishment and life. Apart from you, we cannot grow and flourish.
When strong winds toss us about and threaten to break our spirits, help us to remain flexible even as we cling to you.
Relying on your strength, may we weather every storm and, even when battered a bit, continue to bear fruit that will last.
We pray through Christ our Lord.

Hello St. Pius X parishioners! On June 6, 2020, Bishop Douglas De-shotel will ordain myself and Dcn. John Joseph of Jesus Crucified to the order of the priesthood.
Ever since I was young, I have always felt this call. Many of you can testify because so many of you and your prayers have helped me with this journey. I vividly remember watching the late Msgr. Mouton celebrate mass and saying to myself, “I could do that.” It is humbling to know that I will soon be able to follow in the footsteps of so many priests who helped formed me.
First and foremost, I thank my parents, Daniel, and Lisa Killeen, for their constant love and support. I also thank the faculty and staff of the church and school where my voca-tion to the priesthood was fostered and nourished. Finally, I thank all of you, the parishioners of St. Pius, who have helped me through these many years.
I would not be where I am today if it was not for this church parish. Please know that everyone here will always hold a special place in my heart. Also, I am scheduled to celebrate the 8 am and 10:30 am Sunday masses on June 7th. I hope to see many of you there. Please continue to keep me in your prayers as I begin this new chapter of my life.

To continue spending time in prayer, the Church is open daily. Please see the Church hours referenced throughout this bulletin. Adorers are encouraged to pray during Church hours if they are able, and are reminded that the Blessed Sacrament is just as present in the tabernacle as it is in the Monstrance. Additionally, every Wednesday, Adora-tion is from 6-7 PM in the Church, and will continue each week until the Chapel is able to reopen.
