Having the title of “Plank Owner” includes certain rights and privileges—including bragging rights of being part of the beginning of a new adven-ture for Marines in Indiana.

30%

PLANK PROGRAM By Don Myers My fellow Marines, I think I've already written an article regarding what I call our "Choir Members" getting us to the 30% level of our FUND RAISING effort to purchase the building we are now in and also defray our operating cost. (It cost us roughly $50 every time we open the hatch (door) of our Marine Bar-racks Indianapolis. The term "Choir Members" of course refer's to those worker bee members and visiting barracks members that see exactly what we're doing and that is to make a place all Marines will be proud to visit. So here we are in the early months of the year 2010 and we NEED another 30% this year (or more) to make us ready for 2011 when the PLANK PROGRAM ENDS and we had better have enough funds to cough up the $35,000 to hand over to the VFW or get out. And that would be a lot of work and money down the drain believe me. The past three months shows that we've only had TWO new Plank Owners. We need to bring ALL HANDS into the fold. I know personally it is not easy to come up with the minimum donation of $500 for the BURMA TEAK level. I'm on a fixed income but think well enough of what we're trying to accomplish that I gave donations every month until reaching the Plank level I wanted. YOU CAN DO THIS TOO! Our wonderful Paymaster Melissa Jacobs keeps tabs on every donation that come into the barracks. All you've got to do is to discipline yourself to send in a set amount each month and before you know it you'll be a PLANK OWNER of Marine Barracks Indy.
