Month of December was loaded with activities along with many 'Governor Official visit' to clubs. The highlight definitely was the ICGF on Community Service coupled with the Peace Conference at Temple city of Tirupati managed by Rotary Tirupati Greater City in the perfect ambience of the star hotel, The Grand Ridge. RI director P T Prabhakar was prompted to express that it was the highest attended Community service ICGF he has ever attended. Rotarians had the opportunity of having special darshan of Lord Balaji along with their family.

I along with many of our RI officers had the opportunity of attending the 3 days Zonal Institute at Chennai where Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu gave us the message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to involve in Swatcha Bhartah Abhiyan. Past Rotary International President Raja Saboo gave us the pledge to keep India clean. It was heartening to note that the Prime Minister sent a congratulatory letter to Rotarians for having decided to join hands with him.

We already traversed the half way mark in this rotary year. It was by all means eventful and full of actions. But it is also time for us to revisit our plans and goals. Responding to the call of RI President Gary for growth in membership, we have seen an unprecedented growth in our district. With addition of 600 new members, we already crossed 4000 mark. But we kept our sight at 5K. Are we able to achieve it ? Yes,We can.

Many clubs have planned for extension. They are in the advanced stage. I call upon Club leaders to move with great vigour and pull it off NOW. I am sure in this special year of growth and extension, no club wants to fall behind.

The importance of contribution to TRF can never be undermined. By the humanitarian services undertaken around the globe ,Rotary Foundation is the one which gives us the recognition as Rotarians where ever we go in the world. Now is the time to plan for our contributions. I am sure, as always , Rotarians of our district will rise up to the occasion to keep the district flag flying high.

Shailja joins me in wishing Happy Sankranthi / Pongal to every Rotarian and family.

District Governor, RID 3190

DISTRICT GOVERNOR MESSAGE

“Rotary is of great value. It changes the course of human life. It changes the life of every Rotary beneficiary,

as well as the life of each Rotarian.” - Richard D. King, 2001.“We cannot talk about the future without talking about children. They are our future.” - James L. Lacy, 1998.

At the beginning of this Rotary year, I asked Rotarians everywhere to Light Up Rotary by holding a Rotary Day. How you do this is something I'm leaving up to you: It can be a full day or just a few hours. It can be organized by your club, by your district, or even across your entire country. It can be a service project, a festival, or any kind of event you want. As long as it's open to the community, embraces the whole family of Rotary, and is fun, it's a Rotary Day.

The goal of a Rotary Day is to shine a light on Rotary. For many years, we in Rotary felt that it wasn't appropriate to boast about our good work. We felt it was best to serve quietly and let our work speak for itself. But today, in many communities, people aren't even aware that they have a local Rotary club. Not because the clubs aren't strong, or because they aren't serving well. They are. But if Rotarians don't talk about their work, people will never know about it.

It is time for us to Light Up Rotary and let people know what we are doing. In the first half of this Rotary year, I've been thrilled to see how many Rotarians have taken up my Rotary Day challenge. I've attended Rotary Days in so many places, including the Philippines, Korea, China, the United States, Turkey, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Every one has been different, and every one has met the challenge to Light Up Rotary in its own way.

If you've organized a Rotary Day in your community, tell us about it: Email details and photos of your event to [email protected], with "Rotary Day" as your subject line. We'll do our best to feature as many Rotary Days as possible in the coming months.

And if you haven't planned a Rotary Day yet, why not? It's a great way to share your love for Rotary with your community. When we tell others about Rotary and let them know how membership can enrich their lives, we share a gift that was given to us when we were invited to join our clubs. By passing that gift on, we help ensure that Rotary, and its service, will endure for generations to come.

Gary C.K. Huang

RI President 2014-15

RI PRESIDENT'SMESSAGE January: In Roman times, this was symbolized by the two-

headed god Janus – one head looking back and one head looking forward.

This is the time for us to take stock and see, of the goals we set for ourselves at the start of the year, how many we have achieved, and how we can fully realize all of them by the end of this Rotary year.

How are we meeting our goal of polio eradication? Did we encourage our district to give 20 percent of its District Designated Fund toward the eradication of this terrible disease? Are we supporting National Immunization Days? There is still much to do. The number of polio cases in Pakistan in 2014 far exceeded the number in 2013.

Have you made your contribution to our charity – our only charity – our Rotary Foundation? Have we impressed on those Rotarians who have not made a contribution the need to do so? The number of Rotarians who have not given to our Foundation far exceeds the number who have given, and we need to reverse that statistic. Our target for the Annual Fund is US$123 million. Let us ensure that we reach it.

Have you considered taking advantage of the new grants program by using district or global grants? Last year, 858 district grants and 492 global grants were awarded.

Have you nominated a Rotary Peace Fellow candidate? Have you sought out a Major Donor to help fund the program? Have you registered for the Rotary Peace Symposium, just prior to the Rotary International Convention in São Paulo, Brazil, in June?

I have always held the belief that if the message of Rotary does not get to the Rotarian and the club, it loses its thrust. The Rotary club is the heartbeat of Rotary. What you make of the remaining months of the year, as you endeavor toLight Up Rotary, is up to you.

My New Year best wishes.

FIRST LADY SPEAKS!Year 2014 was a very special year for me. I visited so many places with DG and made many amazing friends. It all started with our weeklong Home stay visit to Florida, USA and then to the International Assembly at San Diego. Met many spouses of DGs from different parts of the world. Back home my First ladies Group is very special. I consider them as my Life time asset and the greatest gift I got from Rotary. Thank you Rotary for giving me such amazing friends for life.

DG and I were the part of New year celebrations organized by presidents with their family at Yelagiri hills. It was lot of fun.

Plenty of projects happening in our school at Jogupalya. Talk on anemic in adolescence by professor Dr.Gundu Rao from Minnisota, Distribution of Iron and deworming tablets , Distribution of sanitary napkins to all girls etc. Children thoroughly enjoyed the self Defense demonstration conducted by Ann Chanda Salgode.

My visit to the Jaipur Limb camp conducted by Rotary Peenya reiterated my faith in Rotary's humanitarian projects. Chief guest Mr Rajanna, commissioner for the dept of disabled, himself a person with both the hands and legs amputated was symbol of courage and dignity who inspired hundreds of patients who came seeking rotary support to be back on their feet. Let us look forward to the new year 2015 to be more vibrant and eventful.

38th Rotary District - 3190 Conference21 & 22 February, 2015

NIMHANS Convention Centre, Hosur Road, Bangalore

Greetings from Rotary International President Rtn. Gary Huang, District 3190 Governor Rtn. Manjunath Shetty, and the Conference Committee. We invite you all to the 38th Rotary District 3190 District Conference, scheduled on the 21st and 22nd February, 2015, at the Nimhans Auditorium, Hosur Road, Bangalore.

The highlight of Rotary District 3190, comprising 92 Clubs, spread over Karnataka, and adjacent States, is the Annual District Conference, a 2 day affair, that covers a diverse agenda, with brilliant speakers, eminent Rotarians, and inspiring and motivating presentations, to an audience of 2000 Rotarians, and their families, guests, and invitees.

For Rotarians, it is an opportunity to network with different Clubs and their members, learn about their collective strengths, and listen to moving presentations about how they can together impact the community, the world around them, and add value to their Rotary lives. It is also an opportunity to take stock, review our effort, and rededicate ourselves to the welfare of the community and the world around us.

Rotary International, which engages in humongous projects on a global scale, and our District 3190, that has spearheaded so many meaningful projects in the areas of poverty alleviation, literacy, health care and education, etc., needs the support of every one of you, to 'light up' lives around us, and bring noticeable change. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will help drive these noble causes, and give hope to thousands of the challenged, and less fortunate.

For Sponsors, Advertisers, and Donors, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their brands and products, reach out to affluent Rotarians, Professionals, and eminent personalities, with the understanding that every penny of their contribution will go back to the community, to support deserving and much needed causes, and to enhance lives in our community, and the Rotary World.

The Conference promises a lot, and offers something of value for everyone, with over 6000 footfalls over 2 days of presentations and deliberations.

Come and participate in this Mega Event, and help us meet the goals and objectives of Rotary Dist. 3190, and Rotary International. We look forward to meeting you all on the 21st and the 22nd February, 2015.

GOVERNOR OFFICIAL VISITS

President Ganapati Hegde and secretary Vanaja Th i rumurugan are prov id ing dynamic leadership for the club with a mega silver jubilee project of building a four story school building at Sumangali Seva Ashram. Adopted 3 schools under TEAH Mission.

President Ganapthi Hegde and secretary Arun are driving many projects under Health and TEACH. Most of the Rotarians being entrepreneurs, and the community is full of industrial workers, regular skill development programs are conducted. Providing school benches, support to Nele Narendra school where very poor and destitute children are housed and educated are being done. Unique project of free coaching to students for competitive public exams is well appreciated.

Rotary Nagamangala - 3.12.2014

The club in partnership with many clubs in Bangalore is implementing several service projects like solar lamps, school benches, Comfort station, and drinking water facilities. Secretary Pani Kiran is a great support.
